Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

Traveling was ok for a little while. But even an unsatisfied heart such as the lioness’ needed somewhere to cling. Somewhere to call home. Halo was too far north, too cold and too bitter. Her broken heart and grief for her family would not allow her to go back to the Grounds, even if they were as changed as rumor had them. Torchline was a good choice….except for the giant star sitting in he water. Stormbreak was where she fled from. That left only here — the rolling hills, with little but a brothel set in (but that she had visited, and that she liked).
But she was a nurse, and would be useful anywhere.
Right?
She hoped so.
Before she could settle, though, she needed to seek her goddess. Kneeling at the altar, Ellyra placed her offering. A beautiful bouquet of flowers wrapped in some vines, and pinned together with her silver nurse’s pin from the clinic in Stormbreak. ”Lady Safrin, I need you.”
Ellyra would like to ask Safrin for a quest for a new shift!
From around the base of the shrine a pale snake splotches with bands of terra-cotta stretches and then uncoils. Slithering slowly out of the warm stones, it wraps its body around the offered flowers and vines. The pin Ellyra has placed with the blossoms is still warm from her body, and against it the snake coils, quite content to syphon the remaining body heat left by her fingers.
Lifting its head, the creature regards her with deep black eyes, its forked tongue peeking out between its lips before slipping her scent back into its mouth.
There was silence for a while. Ellyra waited, her fingers fidgeting with hand nails and tugging at dry patches of skin. She closed her eyes for a bit, until she heard a rustling sound. She opened amber eyes to see a snake coming towards her. She gasped slightly, not having liked the creatures much in general. Before she could scramble up and away, however, something inward gripped her.
Could she be such a coward at the shrine of her goddess who unleashed from the depths of her soul a lioness?
Absolutely not.
The shaky confidence kept her in her place as the snake wrapped around the coiled bunch of flowers and seemed to nestle into the silver pin. Ellyra let out a sound somewhere between a scoff and a chuckle, ”Hey there.”
Watching the woman with the heart of a lioness with quiet, dark eyes, the snake once more sends its forked tongue to sense the air around her, before slithering up onto the shrine itself in order to bask in the sunlight.
"Okay, I see." Ellyra said, her voice dropping slightly in response to the dropping of her heart. Safrin would not be coming today. Sighing, Ellyra lifted her hand as if she were going to stroke the snake, but stopped about a half a foot away. "Tell her I said hi, and that these are from me." She then gestured down to the pin and bouquet that the snake had wrapped around moments ago.
Standing, the lioness pressed her skirt down and shook off a few bits of dried grass. Tucking her long hair behind her ears, she sighed again before turning and heading back to where she had come from.
