What do you get when two ruthless assassins raise their daughter travelling through the wildest reaches of Caido? Take one look at Theea and you'll get a pretty good idea. Cheerful and tenacious in equal measure, and curious beyond all else, she began her journey on a mission to find those her mother once called family. And find them she did, soon rubbing elbows with demigods, leaders and even ghosts from the past. Her determination is resolute, her thirst for knowledge unmatched. We can't wait to see where her next adventure takes her!

all the things we said when we were younger
"I certainly don't want to run the risk of jinxing us for next time, but it went very smoothly." Remi says, sinking down into the hot springs with an indulgent sigh.
Though Frey's Breath wasn't busy per se, given that it was the only safe place to look for the sorts of flowers that were needed to cleanse the world, Remi had expected it to be a good deal busier. It had him frowning a touch, his unease likely pulsing through the bond between he and Hadama though he didn't give voice to his thoughts.
Awash in various scars which are quickly hidden as Remi lets the water rush up to cover his shoulders, the Bastion glances over his shoulder toward the Tidebreaker. "It's a risky thing, having Ronin carry that relic in particular with me around, given what it can do and the way to break my immortality, but.." Having never been a cautious man, Remi can only shrug. "It all worked out better than we could have hoped."
"Mmh. It was well done," Hadama agreed with a sigh of his own as the hot, healing waters welcomed him and he sank up to his neck. Without conscious thought his lower body shifted to his mertail, even though the spring was not deep enough to require it. A matter of comfort and habit as he allowed himself to relax beside the Bastion and savor the taste of victory. "Very well done."
Their first foothold on Starfall, accomplished with no injuries to his Torchers or their allies.
It had been a powerful victory, indeed.
He glanced over at his fellow demigod at the unexpected brush of uneasiness in the bond, however. Though he couldn't tell exactly what had cause it he turned his head to scan the area but saw no threat. There were only a few young people in the distance, mostly hidden within the steam but audible in their laughter as they splashed each other in another pool...
Ah.
But he was surprised at the turn the conversation took, and he returned his attention to Remi with a curious tilt to his chin. "I... do not understand the immortality of demigods," he admitted slowly. "How did you gain it? And how does it work?" It wasn't the sort of thing that was commonly discussed among the bars of Haulani or the halls of the Underwater Palace, at least not within his hearing.

"Mm? ah." Twitching his lips to the side, Remi lifts a hand from the water to wipe the sweat from his brow, before combing his fingers back through his curls. "It didn't happen right away when I became a demigod, but down the line. Presumably, once I'd proved myself useful enough." aka level 8 "Mine has always been that I can only be killed by someone I love, or who loves me." Though his cheeks were already pink thanks to the heat, now they flushed anew. "It has caused considerable issues for me in the past, but...I think that's likely all part of how immortality is supposed to work." Immortality came at a cost, usually at the expensive of something very near and dear.
"So you can see why Ronin having a blade that can instantly kill is a very serious thing when we're together." He adds with a raise of his eyebrows and a slightly boyish tilt of his head. "Luckily I think Ronin could bring me back if he did kill me, though I'd not want to test it, especially not under those conditions."

Tendrils of hair with a metallic steely sheen floated on the surface of the water, coiling around the mermanta as he lounged beside his fellow demigod in the heat and steam of the great cavern. Curious as to what to expect - or at least, as to what others had experienced on their own journeys, given that so much of what they were and did seemed to be unique - Hadama listened with interest to how Remi's path had unfolded.
His serene expression shifted subtly to take on a more solemn cast as the catch to the Bastion's immortality was reiterated, this time with an explanation and context that had the Tidebreaker nodding slowly. "I see... thank you." At the lightening of Remi's own tone Hadama let the heat relax him anew, trusting to the other man's marriage and to the White Knight's skills to avoid the sort of friendly fire that had caused issues in recent... situations. "For Torchline's sake as much as Flora's, I would also ask that you not test it," he added, his voice serious but a glint of wry humor in emerald eyes as he met Remi's seaglass green gaze. "And I would like to drink tea with you again someday. At least once without the weight of the world on our shoulders." He tilted his head back then, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he let them fall closed to better enjoy their soak. "It would be... difficult. If you were in Mort's Halls."

Having leaned his head comfortably back against the stone boundary, Remi raised an eyebrow and as he tilted his head over his shoulder, cracked open his eyes a touch. Only the mere glimmer of amusement kept his brows from furrowing, and with a small chuckle the Bastion settled himself back. "I think Flora would find someway to bring me back, if only to yell at me for dying on her." He says softly, lips turned up at the corners. If anyone was capable of bargaining with the gods to have a parent returned for such a petulant reason, it was absolutely his daughter.
"Mmm, I would enjoy that too. Perhaps up in the cordillera? Ronin and I recently went back to see how things faired. Our old home has been entirely overgrown, but for the most part, everything is still standing. It's actually rather nice, seeing it reclaimed by the mountains." Not that Hadama had seen it back when the pair had first moved in, but undoubtedly he'd be able to imagine if they ever went.
"Do you have any flighted shifts? Or ways of teleporting there?" If not Remi would be happy to carry the Tidebreaker.

Relaxed enough that his usual stoic mask was slipping, a quiet huff of laughter escaped the Tidebreaker at the image of Flora, hands on her hips, making her case to Mort with all the considerable persuasion she could muster. "I would not be surprised," he agreed. "Your daughter is formidable." All the more reason she made a staunch co-ruler, and a good friend.
The steam of the springs filled his lungs and eased his breathing as the waters leached the tension from his muscles. His tail flicked lazily beneath the surface, the gold of his tattoos shimmering in the low light of the cavern as Remi mentioned the Cordillera and Hadama turned his head to look over at the Bastion with interest. "I have never been," he admitted, curiosity bright in emerald eyes. "I would enjoy that, thank you." He rolled his head back, a thoughtful hum rumbling his chest. "I can teleport within a region. Though only at night. I am working to improve the ability to cross all of Caido..." He paused and his light tone faded to a more serious mien. "But I must travel to the northern edge of the Wildwood." A daunting task given the current dangers of the region, and a significant risk to anyone who came with him.

It's perhaps not an entirely appropriate question, and yet Remi finds it weighing heavily on his lips as the conversation continues to linger around his daughter. Biting at the inside of his cheek, the Bastion exhales softly before hazarding a glance over his shoulder toward the Tidebreaker. "You don't...know anything about who she's currently...dating, do you?" It's tentatively asked, with Remi not really wanting to know the answer, so much as to be told that his worries were for not.
"Mmmmmm." The hum is in response both to the Tidebreaker's limitations as much as the task (no doubt given to him by Safrin) that he was meant to accomplish. "If it would help..I'd be happy to fly you through the northern edge of the Wildwood." No doubt it would still be a dangerous undertaking, but perhaps less so from the sky.

There was the faintest flicker of surprise through the Attuned bond at the question, but Hadama quickly regained control of his emotions. Fatherly concern was something he could understand after a moment to consider it. Still, he could not answer immediately as he cast his memory back to those who he had seen most often in her company.
"Mmh. We have not discussed it," he admitted frankly, turning his head to meet Remi's gaze. "She has many admirers. But I do not know if she is serious about any of them." Another pause, and a faint furrow between steel grey brows. "Although... there was some trouble recently. With the leader of the Hollowed Grounds and his enforcer. Though I am not... entirely certain if it was a romantic dispute." He was not entirely certain it wasn't, either. He had not pressed Flora beyond discovering the names of those who had roused her ire and sent her red-eyed and hungover into the ocean.
He had not intended to press the Bastion for assistance given the risks the other man was already taking on Starfall, but nor was Hadama inclined to look a gift seahorse in the mouth when it was offered to him. "It would help a great deal," he admitted. "Thank you. Is there a night that you are available for it?"

Having no choice but to sigh at the mention that his daughter had many admirers, Remi can only nod wearily. That Aoife was no longer in their lives could never be thought of with anything less than grief, though Remi was distantly thankful he didn't have to deal with the love lives of two daughters at once. "Oh? She did come home from a trip up North and then disappeared rather quickly to visit her mother..." Biting at the inside of his cheek, he hadn't sensed anything at the time, though Flora did have a tendency to seek out Hotaru when she was feeling a very particular kind of pain.
Grumbling and sinking down deeper into the hotsprings until the water threatened to trickle into his ears, he hummed a note of appreciation toward the Tidebreaker before following it up with a more robust pulse of gratitude through the attuned bond.
"Maybe in a few days?" Glancing over his shoulder, Remi shrugged softly to indicate he could be swayed to go sooner or later depending on what suited the merking best.

The challenges of fatherhood were not ones that Hadama envied Remi. Especially when children on Caido had a habit of growing up rather more suddenly than expected, presenting entirely new trials to a devoted parent. He listened solemnly to his fellow demigod's musings but remained quiet to give the Bastion the time and space to think through what little new information he had been able to provide.
He let his eyes drift closed, sinking down to his chin as the healing heat did its wonderful work and the steam cleansed his sinuses. At the pulse through the Bond a ghost of a smile quirked one corner of his mouth upwards and he blinked lazily over at Remi once more. "Mmh. That works well," he assured him. He could travel to the Frostfields in the meantime, without rushing the Bastion. Though he would not want to keep Safrin waiting too much longer.
For the moment, however, there was no need to race back to Torchline. Self-care was an important facet of leadership, too, and Hadama was determined to pursue it with the same diligence he put into his coastal patrols.
