The path to the shrine was familiar by this point, and Thal swam through the dark water with more ease than before. She might have chosen the Temple to pray to Dygra, but after getting cursed there last time... she wasn't very eager to return. There was also something about the privacy of the dark cavern that brought her comfort, like a calming embrace or a mother's womb.

As she surfaced from the water, Thal lit a small flame above her finger like a candle. It wasn't that she needed the light, easily able to spot the glowing rubies of the shrine, but just that she could. She could tell that she'd become stronger in the recent months - since the recent epiphanies and discoveries that had settled against her nomadic heart - and she relished in the power she felt growing within.

But she wanted more.

Kneeling next to the sharp gemstones, Thal didn't hesitate to plunge her hand onto their sharp tips. The pain didn't faze her, or the blood that pooled beneath it, although she let her flame wink out in a moment of reverent respect for the goddess she called upon. "Lady Dygra, if you have a moment, I would appreciate your help with something."

In the dark, she removed her daggers, placing them against the damp stone that glistened like oil. "I saw someone able to recall their daggers during battle. Could you help me do the same with mine?" Her heart raced with anticipation, her eyes fixed to the way her blood deepened the red of the rubies as she waited for Dygra to announce herself.

---

Thalassa is asking Dygra for a quest to give her daggers the ability to be recalled/moved with her singing/voice!

At the very least, it isn’t a curse that greets the young Ancient.

But it isn’t Dygra either.

Instead, there’s the feeling of being watched, by multitudes of beady eyes against the cracks in the wall. Don’t worry, it isn’t anything Family related, but a bunch of arachnids come crawling out of the walls in droves, aiming for blotting out the rubies in the cavern and most notably the one in the center with the sharp gemstone still harboring bits of blood that pool there.

Seemingly ignoring Thalassa for the moment, the spiders move again, aiming for the blood to gorge themselves with.

Had Thal ever mentioned how much she hated spiders?

At first, she hoped she was just imagining the little scurry of legs, the feeling of hundreds of eyes on her hunched form. Maybe the shadow in the ruby red glow was an evil spirit come to curse her again - which might have been preferred to the eight-legged monstrosities. Honestly, most things were preferred to the itty-bitty creepy crawlers, and she prayed (again) to Dygra in hopes that it wasn't what she thought it was.

She hastily lit an orb of flame in her bleeding hand, only to reveal the little devils crawling nearly on her hand. A jolt of electricity shot up her spine and she choked back a scream - because she would not scream. Biting the inside of her cheek hard enough to draw blood, she stumbled back into the water, grateful that they couldn't follow her there. And with a very 'relaxed' and 'elegant' departure (not panicked or desperate like the splashing suggested), Thal dove down into the water, taking refuge amongst the waves that were very spider-fee.
