It felt weird but good to be seeking out Frey's shrines again. He didn't dare bother Mort too often, and Ludo had given him a bad case of anxiety over the years, especially when it came to knives. Frey, though... Frey was an old friend, and Tal was more relieved than he'd realized to be back on good terms with the god of sex and nature once more.

Though as intense as his last prayer experience had been, he was ready for the comforting familiarity of the god's more nature-based side this time!

And given what he was asking for, it just felt right to call upon nature.

The courier came alone for once; Boreal remained a shadow at Alys's side, watching over the seer for her cub until Sascha was back with them once more. So it was just Tal, who should have been comfortable in a short-sleeved shirt and his Frostbite Cuff as he laid out his offerings on the Rainbow Road's altar. Instead the courier shivered, pale beneath his tanned skin and with shadows lingering beneath his eyes. The morning light filtered through the Flowerbirth clouds and chased occasional flashes over the silvery sides of the carafe of coffee he had brewed up on a little brazier for both of them. Steam rose from it, mingling with that of the waters around the shrine as he set out cream, sugar, and honey to accompany it; little nods to the other side of Frey he had gotten to know and appreciate of late.

"Frey... well, or Rae?" Because it didn't hurt to aim high, right? "...If you're listenin', I could really use your help. I was hopin' y'might be willin' t'help me make another... another dagger? Like my other one, but one that'll cut with air magic instead this time." He poured a mug for the god and a second for himself, hands shaking so that a few drops spilled on the altar. The woman's face lingered in his thoughts, her throat, cut by the Dagger poisoned by Ludo's blessing at his request. Maybe if it hadn't been poisoned... "I know it's not its fault." All of that lay entirely on the hand that had wielded the weapon, after all. "But I... I just want a different choice, please. T'defend me an' my friends while I... I work through things." And if that choice could do extra damage to the Void that had put him in the position to make that mistake? All the better.

Frey
"Are you quite sure that coffee is a good choice there, sugar? You're jittery enough as it is." As a jet from a geyser nearby sends a spray of rainbow light and warm water overhead, Frey appears seated among the other various offerings in the shrine, golden skinned and brimming with health and vitality. Flowerbirth is naturally one of their favourite seasons, given the seeds bursting into growth and the trees unfurling fresh new leaves, and they reach for their own mug to add a generous helping of cream and sugar to it.

"Brave of you to craft another weapon, given the weight of the thoughts in your mind already," they remark with a tilt of their head, bringing the mug to their lips and drinking deeply with a hum of appreciation. "But who am I to stop you from making your choices?" Decisions are decisions - only Tal can decide if they are bad or good. "Very well. It won't be a typical dagger, but... I think I know what to do here."

Tal has received a quest! He must:

1. Complete a thread encountering a Cygnata and harvesting its crest.
2. Complete a thread making an offering of a shiny thing to a Cloud Wyrm.
3. Complete a thread obtaining (i.e. trading, stealing, harvesting) the pelt of a Ramphire and have it crafted into a dagger hilt.
4. Complete a thread with someone who possesses Air Manipulation and witness them use it.

Given the way that Tal flinched when the geyser exploded - even here in tropical Torchline, in the daytime and open air - Frey probably had a point. "Yeah... yeah maybe I shoulda brought decaf..." Tal admitted sheepishly. "Didn't think y'were one for moderation, though." It wouldn't be the first time that he had made incorrect assumptions about a god's preferences, of course, and Frey's in particular, but the offering was more for Them than the Messenger.

He just needed something to keep his hands busy while he prayed, was all. Yeah, that was it.

But he still surreptitiously set his mug off to the side while they talked, taking Frey's advice at face value.

The god had another point, and as it was made Tal ducked his head and rubbed at the back of his neck. "It's... complicated..." he mumbled, flushing slightly even though there wasn't any judgment that he could really hear in Frey's voice. He was a complicated mess of conflicting emotions over what he'd done and maybe this was a terrible way of coping with it...

But it was the only thing he'd come up with so far. If this didn't work... well. Maybe he'd try talking to someone about it then. Maybe.

For now, however, he leaned forward with hungry hope in his eyes as Frey listed what was needed.
