karma's a relaxing thought, aren't you envious that for you it's not?
The reddish trees of Ludo’s Woods breathe softly around her, their bark like weathered skin beneath her touch, rough and ancient, as if exhaling stories with every brush of her fingers. Flora steps lightly between them with the reverence of someone visiting old friends—her arms full of acorn-men. There’s one tipping an invisible hat to the shrine, his cap made from a lopsided thimble and a leaf too large for his acorn head. Another is seated cross-legged, a little twig pipe dangling from his mouth as he lounges against a beetle shell turned chaise. A third clings from the shelf of a tree with one crooked arm and a painted-on expression of sheer terror, mid-fall. Their tiny scenes form a sort of parade around the shrine, tucked into hollows and root-nooks like a secret audience.

Kneeling down, Flora folds her skirts beneath her, resting one elbow on her knee as she sets a final acorn man beside the candle—this one wrapped in a shred of black lace, pretending to be Ludo itself. "Hi," she begins, her voice low but bright, like the flicker of a match before the flame. "I was just thinking, since I’m about to build my new place, maybe I could make a few, um...design choices that involve you?" Her gaze slides toward the gnarled roots where the lanterns glow, expression half-hopeful, half-mischievous.

"I know most people don’t want ghosts in their cupboards or whispers in their walls, but I think it might be kinda fun, you know? So I was wondering if you had any spirits who might want to come haunt a cabinet or a curtain or something. Nothing too intense—no screaming portraits or blood-dripping ceilings—unless they really want that and someone deserves it. Just...little things. And I'll make sure to always leave them offerings to keep them in good.." She pauses, grinning wickedly at the shrine. "Spirits."

Flora is asking Ludo to help make her new house haunted (but in a fun way).

ludo

Braved the forests, braved the stone
Braved the icy winds and fire
Braved and beat them on my own

Ludo appears slooooooowly, its porcelain-mask peeping out from around the shrine right at Flora's level, its expression a comical of shocked delight. Much, likely, to both of their surprise, the little acorn men don't jump into animation, but a very gentle raggedy tendril does reach out to brush across the one dressed like the herald. "These things are the best things," it declares softly, tipping an invisible hat back to the creation at the foot of the shrine.

"Sweetling I have so many spirits who would like to do that, but I will have to interview them thoroughly to ensure they make the cut. You understand, yes?" Its masked face is grinning now, and it swoops up among the branches, head slowly turning until the mask is entirely upside down.

"I will also have to interview you, to see if you are worthy of having them in your home! Complete these tasks and come back to me - we will see if we can make you a match."

Flora has received a quest from Ludo! She must do the following:

1. Complete a thread dressing up as a traditional ghost, i.e. a sheet over the head, and spooking someone.
2. Complete a thread leaving offerings for spirits at a shrine of Flora's choosing. Be sincere! (Please post in the board that houses the shrine, rather than the shrine itself).
3. Complete a thread making a lantern specifically to hang in the house for the spirits, and choose where to hang it.
4. Complete a thread being spiritual, however you would like to interpret that. (e.g. meditation, ouija boards, prayer, drinking spirits...)

Flora’s grin blooms instantly, bright as lantern-light, when the herald peeks out at her, and only deepens when its approval lands like a warm pat on the head. "Maybe next time I come, we can make voodoo dolls of everyone who’s ever wronged us," she suggests sweetly, the wicked little curve of her smile belying the playful tone, curls bouncing as she tilts her head.

She nods solemnly at the mention of interviews, brows lifting in a show of agreement despite having no real idea what she’s signing herself up for. "Mmhmm, totally, thorough background checks, got it." What that would entail on Ludo's side, she supposed, wasn't necessarily any of her concern.

A laugh slips free, light and delighted, and she leans back on her heels. "I’ll come back with supplies for more acorn people and we can have a proper chat," she promises, waggling her fingers at the raggedy herald like she’s sending it a handful of affection to catch.
