WESSEX
after all is said and done
you're just a carnivore
let you in and drink my blood
you're nothing but a monster

Right, so - current state of events: Cera is dead, and though Wessex may seem like a cold-hearted bitch for not necessarily caring that his mangled body was left outside, she is, in fact, rather upset about the loss of the wolf kid. It’s a private kind of mourning that she does; the kind where you think you’ve prepared yourself to lose someone you know and probably like during LongNight, because there has never been one where they all survived. Some are expected. And some are very unexpected, some surprise you by how hard they hit, some leave you sitting against the side of the Temple dais once there’s silence and the non-existent adrenaline has worn off. Some leave your head hanging in your hands, elbows on your knees, wanting nothing more than to beat the ever-living shit out of something.

But that would be too loud. And Wessex didn’t know him as well as some others did - she just liked the kid and the way he handled himself during their ill-conceived exploration. Liking someone is enough to justify the feels in the Wraith’s books. She likes so few people, really.

When she finally changes position, her feet stretch out and rub against something that moves, which draws her attention. Curious, the Queen looks closer and discovers a loose tile. Carefully, quietly, she pries it up and finds a little book inside - dusty, yellowed, and old. Old old. And so, like anyone else with a hundred things to do, she opens it instead. This is where someone might find her, tucked away in a corner, eyes glowing blue as she reads what few others can.

For a while, Wessex forgets.
