Love mends even the broken parts
Grinning at the Jax’s’ enthusiastic response, Loren knelt down, heedless of the mud, to take a closer look. Seeing one of the pies teetering, he reached out a gentle hand and patted it back into shape, before standing and wiping his palm on his pants. ”Keep up the good work.” Turning to Phoebe, the smile slipped away. ”I know.” His voice came out quietly enough that the boys couldn’t hear it.

As she spoke, the summoner shrugged. ”You haven’t been a burden. And I’m not really doing anything at the moment, to be perfectly honest. But I understand. If you change your mind, though, let me know.” He smiled at the midwife’s next statement, though there was a sad edge to this one. ”I’m glad you’re content.” His tone was gentle and genuine.

However, the smile disappeared in a heartbeat at her comment. Running a nervous hand through his hair, he gave her a sheepish look. "I'm sorry about that, though I told him you had a very brief crush, not that you have one. I didn't expect him to tell you. Then again, I doubt you expected Remi to tell me either." The Launceleyn closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Sorry. Again. I shouldn't have done that." Opening his eyes, he bit his lip. "And I'm...I'm sorry I didn't...recognize, uh, didn't know. Before, I mean." His voice was awkwardly stilted, but contained an honestly apologetic core.

He nodded. ”Of course.” Sighing, he crossed his arms. ”I suppose my offer to watch over the boys was a bit selfish. I miss the Beatrix and Jace.” The deep sadness in his voice indicated that it went a little beyond missing them, but his features remained neutral enough.
