Nephele
Nephele's empathy for non-Fae is not terribly high, so she'd had no qualms with flying away when the Fiat Lux monster had destroyed the festival. Had she regretted some of the demises? Yes. But in the end, how many Fae had died in their own natural order? How many had died as a direct cause of the Grounders? So though she does not return home for long, still too intrigued by the open lands beyond the border, it's enough to be swept away by the general celebratory mood of her people. Makes her perhaps a tad sweeter, more flexible, as she finds herself in the rare greenery of the Glade.

She is singing softly cradled in the top of a tree, a song often used during dances and midnight fires in the Village. A simple, easily repeated thing as most celebratory songs are. A dedication to the sun, the summer, the heat they try to capture as long as possible. The birds sing back, flitting around at a greater distance than those in the Greatwood, and she smiles as she basks beneath the sun's rays high in the sky.

Nikki was enjoying herself greatly as she like always was strutting through the glade, stopping once in a while to pick up a pretty flower to put in her bouquet. Nikki enjoyed walking through the forest areas immensely so it might not come as a surprise to spot her in a place like this. After all; she walked for a long time every single day. A soft humming came from her as she smoothly went forward through the lack of path she was on. Climbing over mossy rocks, fallen trees and whatever else may obstruct her path. Normally this woman was a bit clumsy but funny enough rarely when she was, or thought she was, all alone. The pure red hair shining in the rays of sun through the trees as it where not tied up in a bundle for the time being.

A beautiful ray of sunlight further away casted its light on a bigger, beautiful, yellow flower which ofcourse meant she steared her path that way. As she reached the flower she crouched down to pick it up and add to her colorful bouquet. She closed her eyes to feel the warm breeze at her skin and while she did just that she stopped the humming. Even though she had stopped she still heard a tune in the air which made her reopen her eyes and turn her face up towards the blue sky. A smaller shape of a person was almost straight over her with the shine of a pair of wings hitting her eyes from above. Slowly she stood up. A smile gracing her lips as she watched the shape above her. A Fae? Here? Without the slightest hesitation she called out to the shape high up in the sky. "Hello there! How are you?" She called happily, waving in the air towards the shape. It wasn't every day you ran in to a Fae after all!

Nephele
Nephele is not expecting company, though as she lays boneless and content beneath the golden rays like a sunning cat, she's far more inclined to socialize with a Grounder than normal. Hazel eyes peek open, indolent and incredulous as she turns onto her stomach on the branch when a voice calls up to her. Peering down through the branches, bright hair and a brighter smile meet her from the ground. She is silent for a moment, wings fluttering as she muses over whether to entertain this interloper or not. Finally, she calls back down, one hand propping her chin up as she stares down at the other woman. "I am perfectly content, LongHeat is here after all." LongNight had not affected her in nearly the same way as those in the Hollowed Grounds, but she craves for the season to be long nonetheless, to lengthen their celebrations in the Greatwood into a haze of good humor and happiness.

She rolls off the branch without a fear, wings catching the slight breeze easily as she flutters down towards the other redhead. There's no point in touching down on the earth, not when she has been lying still for so long. Hovering stretches out Neph's coiled spinal muscles and lets her make a quick getaway if the Grounder decides to stop being interesting. "Are you gathering flowers for your own seasonal celebrations?" Her head tilts in an intrigued, distinctly birdlike manner. Perhaps the Grounders have their own LongHeat festivals like Fiat Lux had been? If so she would like to hear more of it, record it in her mind to place in her archives later in the Undercroft.

Nikki had not a bad feeling at all when it came to the Fae's since that one one of few types of people that had never harmed her in any ways. She found them to be very beautiful as well with there smaller statue and shiny wings. She had many times wondered if her life had been better if she had been born a Fae instead of a human, silly daydreams that is. In many ways she thought she indeed would have been better off considering what her real family was like but she also knew that all type of people had their own problems to deal with so who really knew? She hadn't really met many Fae and not talked to them about more personal stuff like; what problems do you have over there? Since Nikki was a partygirl at heart they had mostly just had fun. That was what she had always focused on to escape all her bad memories after all. As the reply came fluttering down to her she couldn't help but to agree with a nod since this day, at least this far, was quite lovely. This was her favorite season after all thanks to all the pretty flowers growing in the forest. Plus it was a temperature she could walk long walks in without turning into a popsticle.

As the question cam towards her she smiled while looking at the Fae woman in front of her. "Well i guess you can say that but i have not really figured out what to do quite yet. It's for a celebration that actually come from you Fae's but that i don't know much about. So im collecting some pretty flowers as a celebration even though i have no idea what the full story is yet." As she spoke she looked a bit questionable as she started to puzzle the pieces together. She was stating that she didn't know the story in front of a Fae that probably knew which made her feel a bit stupid to be honest. "If you don't mind; would you grace me with telling the story about the sun? As i stated i don't know much more then i heard a friend was trying to capture the sun? Oh! And i apologize! My name is Nikki, who might you be?"

Nephele
Birdlike, Nephele tilts her head and surveys the girl who stares upon her with the sun in her eyes and smile. She is far too happy as far as the Fae woman is concerned, but what does she know? She has met no more than a handful of wingless humans, and their personalities have been distinctly different every time. Perhaps she has had a particularly good day? Still, it makes her somewhat wary, unsure if this is a facade of some sort meant to lower her guard. It is hard to not feel vulnerable sometimes here in the Grounds, even if she has a method of swift escape that they are not capable of.

"Our celebration?" The curiosity makes her hum, only vaguely recalling last LongHeat when they had deigned to share their stories with the Grounders, recently arrived as they had been. Ah but first, it's clear introductions need to be made. "My name is Nephele," she answer simply, not bothering with any fluff such as 'nice to meet you' when that has yet to be determined. Deciding this may be a proper time, she settles her feet upon the earth and folds her wings down against her spine. "It's not as convoluted as you may think. The legend is that if someone - or with the the might of many - is capable of capturing the sun and holding it in the sky, the darkness of the approaching Leafchange cannot descend. You can harness it in many ways, but to capture it and keep LongHeat burning bright as long as possible is what we strive to do, and we celebrate the warmth and providence the season brings us." Of course all the Fae are aware of the devastation of a summer gone on too long, of the fires and destruction it could cause, but such things are part of a natural cycle that they themselves belong in.

Nikki was the type of woman who lead pretty much a nomad lifestyle, moving from place to place, not to mention having as good a time as she possibly could no matter the circumstances. She had been on the run all her life almost from both her father and her psychotic brother so a state of pure fear was always at the sidelines of her life. She dealt with it by ignoring it as best as she could and trying to enjoy every day of her life. She was however happiest here, not at the location itself but out alone in the woods gathering herbs, flowers and food items. Funny enough it made her feel safer to be all alone, not having to worry about what people knew her father or brother and was going to run to them with information about her whereabouts.

When the Fae introduced herself shortly Nikki nodded with a smile to then state a simple, but genuine; "Nice to run into you." Nikki wasn't however the happy and naive kind. She was well aware that even this stunning Fae could be a foe but she found no reason to not be nice until she was proven the opposite however. The Fae seamed to relax a bit by landing on the ground and folding her wings which in turn made Nikki feel alot safer. Logic. She listened interested to the story at hand and memorized it as she heard it. "Oh i see! Well then, i wouldn't mind doing my best for that cause for sure. One would lie if one said it wasn't alot more safe with the light around after all." She said while picking out one of the prettiest flowers in her bouquet to calmly hold it out towards Nephele. She picked out the flower that complimented the beauty before her as a small thank you for the information she had given. "It matches you perfectly" She stated and waited for her to either accept the gift or reject it.

Nephele
The niceties are unexpected, and Nephele can't quite mimic them with how her tongue rebels at the lack of truth. It is at least turning out to be a mildly pleasant encounter however, so there's not much for her to complain about. Instead her wingtips flutter together in a small sound, and she nods her head - a little uncomfortably - in imitation of the other Grounders she has spoken to. Hopefully one of the two motions will register with Nikki and let her know that Nephele is attempting to return the sentiment. Though she's sure they are of equal intellect, sometimes Nephele feels like she's trying to communicate with an entirely different nonverbal species. Or maybe she's just weird herself. Both are likely.

A slight smile comes forth at the free-flowing words that praise their ceremony. "Yes, there is safety and comfort in sunlight, which is why we strive so hard to please the land and the Gods to let it linger." Though ironically despite having grown up revering it, it's not her favorite season. What she isn't expecting is a gift however, and the Fae falters as she stares wide-eyed down at the flower. It's a beautiful specimen, and for a moment she shuts down that scientific part of her mind to simply appreciate the act of being given a present, no matter how small. Slowly she takes the bloom in delicate fingers, weaving it expertly into her hair behind her ear. Then she smiles, tentative but brighter than anything she has given Nikki so far. "Thank you." And, reluctant to leave the girl with nothing, she reaches into her own bag to withdraw a small fruit, similar to a peach. It doesn't grow anywhere in the Grounds, though whether that's due to its preferred climate or just the generally terrible soil is to be soon. She offers it silently, hoping the trade will suffice.

This was a pleasant encounter for Nikki as well. She really didn't expect to run into someone in her flower gathering activities but it was appreciated none the less. As The Fae speechless tried to return the sentiment Nikki smiled in a nice way and nodded as a reply to the silent message vibrating through the air to both say she understood and that words wasn't needed to be forced out. She could see how a sudden conversation from a different species might be a bit puzzling after all and even though she herself was an outgoing party girl it of course didn't mean that everybody else were the same way. However , all was weird in their own way and Nikki thought of it as a good thing. Imagine how boring life would be otherwise.

"Ah yes, the darkness brings both fear and danger so the sun is highly appreciated to keep those at bay." She agreed whole heartedly as the memories of all the fear she had felt last LongNight came fluttering back momentarily in her mind. She choose however to let them flutter back out just as fast as she presented the flower the Nephele. The wide eyed look that ensued from her was however surprising to Nikki and made him look happily surprised over the expression at hand. Didn't someone ever offer her a flower before? It had to have happened right? Considering she was highly attractive, maybe another Fae? She didn't however know how common that gesture was in the greatwoods and for a second she considered the possibility that they might not have that type of giftgiving at Nephele's home.

When she accepted the gift Nikki smiled again and watched her weave it into her hair with that thank you coming Nikki's way. "I knew it! It fits you perfectly~" Nikki was soon the one to acquire a surprised look upon her face as Nephele actually gifted her back. She looked down at the fruit and knew exactly what she wanted to say but first she accepted the gift gracefully and bowed her head in gratitude before lifting her hand to smell the fruit that indeed smelled wonderfully. "Ohh thank you so much, Nephele! But you really didn't have to, the flower was a gift so no trade was required. However im pleased none the less"

Nephele
Nephele dips her head in agreement. "The sun has its own flaws, but light and visibility will always be safer than what darkness brings. Perhaps it will help you here, where LongNight's monsters prowl." Potentially an insensitive thing to say but Nephele has no way of knowing that. To her it is a simple fact that the Hollowed Grounds suffer monsters in the sunless time, and the Greatwood does not. Whether that is a cause of the barrier or some other curse that continues to poison the Grounders Nephele isn't sure. It is one of her greater subjects of curiosity.

Nikki's surprise is well hidden but spotted nonetheless, and Nephele's cheeks flush with warmth at her own surprise. "Gift-giving is...uncommon for my people," she explains stiltedly, though she cradles the flower with incomparable gentleness as she places it in her hair. Clearly appreciating and cherishing the gift despite it being a rarity for her. When the other woman accepts her gift but verbally declines it, Nephele feels she has misstepped somewhere. Until the last few words at least, which release her from the bindings of her anxiety. "Not a trade, a gift in return. A thank you." She leaves it unspoken, but it's implied that she is grateful for having received the flower as a gift, something that has rarely ever occurred to her and never outside of her family.

"Well who knows, maybe i will try to get someplace safer this year during the LongNight season, i'm getting a little to tired to witness all the pain and suffering that LongNight brings. Just not sure where to go really." She said in a way that clearly spoke that she was prepared to get locked away in a cage once again, just like every year before it. So many times she had managed to avoid death, would this year be the same or a literal end? Who really knew? Nikki's thoughtful expression and hidden surprise changed rather quickly however when Nephele shared that gifts was uncommon for the Fae's. They didn't get gifts at all? Not even on birthdays, holidays or such? Surprised she had to ask; "So you never just give someone something as a thank you or like a birthday present?" She blinked surprised and waited for the reply to this. If they didn't even get a birthday present Nikki would simply have to make p for all those missed gifts!

"Well i highly appreciate it! What is this fruit called if i may ask?" She said with a smile on his face, looking at her gift that she had not seen before. She doubted that it even existed in Hallowed Grounds.

Nephele
Nephele hums softly instead of responding. Unwilling to let any Grounder in the Greatwood during LongNight, protective as ever of the forest and its benevolence. Though she does spare a brief moment to feel sympathy for the woman and her plight.

"We live much longer than you. Birthdays are not celebrated as much as milestones." Otherwise they'd get tired of celebrating very, very quickly. Or, well, quickly to them at least.

"There is no word for it that I'm aware of in your language, but we call it-" she says the word in the Fae language, something old and misshapen to the ears of any non-Fae. "I hope you enjoy it. Unfortunately I must return home before it gets too cold." With a dip of her head, Nephele lets her wings beat harder to lift herself back into the air, giving a small wave of her hand to the shape below as she begins the long flight back to the Greatwood.
