What dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil must give us pause...

Shadows spread across the floor of an unfamiliar forest, deepening as the day turned and the sun began its descent towards an unseen horizon. What little relief the shade offered from the heat of the day seemed offset by the uneasiness it instilled in Rillian as the priestess quietly made her way through the woods. She'd been traveling for hours, it seemed, and neither the lake nor the familiar pines of the north-country came into view.

It had begun to dawn on Rillian that the lake and the mountains of the northlands she'd left behind were lost to her forever. Small things told her of the change; her magic felt almost thick in her veins, sluggish and heavy where it had once been light and flexible, and the very air she breathed felt strange and foreign to her. Where she was, Rillian did not know. But she knew that the light of her vision had taken her far, far from the dangers and mysteries of her homeland.

A sigh escaped Rillian's lips as she came upon an old, rotted tree fallen into her pathway. Rillian sat down on it, finally allowing her sore, bare feet a respite from the harsh growth of twigs and rocks that made her skin bleed and blister. Her shoes had long since been discarded, worn to uselessness by her travels. Rillian wasn't sure when or where she would come by new ones. As she sat rubbing her sore feet, Rillian listened to the sounds of the forest around her, alert for any signs of life. She'd sensed none so far, but with her luck, she imagined that she wouldn't fend off hungry beasts or vicious forest-dwelling tribesmen for long. Assuming these dangers were native to these parts.

Sascha was on his way back home since the time had run away from him and darkness lured around the corner. This always made him a bit nervous since he wasn't really known to be a good fighter and considering what could lure in the dark he didn't quite feel at ease where i hauled the rare wood through the forest. It had been hard to find after all, the guild didn't have this particular wood in storage and it was just this type that he needed which was the reason he had ventured out in the morning to find some. Considering it was nighttime soon it had taken quite a while to find it.

He must admit he had been lost a while as well but was finally on the right track home. It was way more difficult to find the right way in the looming darkness after all but after a hour he finally figured out where he actually was. The old tree came up which was on the way to town but as he saw a shadow beneath it he stopped in his tracks, tying to figure out if it was a friend or foe lurking underneath it. Should he go forward or stay put? The latter seamed like a better choice.. He did have his sword but as already stated he was more of a healer than hurter. So with that thought he cleared his throat nervously. "Ehum.. hello?"

Rillian was surprised by the sound of footsteps, and then even more so by a soft voice breaking her long solitude. She stood, wary of this stranger with a face unlike any she recognized, features distinct and belonging to no race that Rillian had ever seen. The language he spoke, too, rang in her ears strangely. It was not that she did not understand it--Rillian found that she did, through some strange power she did not fully understand. However, the words, though recognizable, still felt foreign to her.

It took her a few moments of concentration to form her own words in this language. She found she could speak it, but her accent was clumsy compared to the smooth and poetic notes of her native tongue.

"Hello," she said hesitantly. "Can you tell me--where is this place?" she asked. Rillian hoped he would understand her question, though she supposed it must be an odd question for someone to ask. Anyone with any sense must know where they were. Either her suspicion would prove true, and the light had taken her far from her homeland, or she would find she was indeed out of her senses after all.

Sascha stood where he stood, just as hesitant as she was and when she did speak he got the notion she was like he had once been; trapped in a foreign world far away from home. Was she from earth as well or from some other distant place? She didn't seam to comfortable with the language but miraculously could speak it, was it different in other worlds? Sascha could hear how scared she seamed to be and strongly remembered how scary this place had been when he first arrived as well. Maybe that was the reason to why he started to go towards her instead of running away. Nobody should be alone in Caido during nighttime after all.

As he approached he noticed her feet was hurt which made him pick up the pace to all of a sudden sink down on his knees in front of her to examine her feet. Worry filled his face as he witnessed the blisters. Did she not have any shoes? "You're in Caido, i take it you just ended up here?" He said before lifting his hands over the injured feet. A second or so later a strong light emerged from his hands and the blisters went away, leaving the feet healed. Thank the gods that she didn't have somethingbroken cause that was something he could not so easily heal.

"Cai-do..." Rillian repeated the name. She had never heard of this land. The way the man spoke of it, too, asking if she had just appeared here... Had he arrived by the same means, she wondered.

Rillian stiffened a little when the man drew closer, surprised as she was by his sudden movements. Though he did not seem hostile, appearances could be deceiving, and she tried not to shrink away like a frightened sheep. She stood to her full height, a little taller than the man, and tried not to flinch when he crouched down beside her and put his hands near her injured feet.

Her eyes widened when she felt magic coursing into her skin, sealing up the cuts and soothing the blisters until her feet were no longer torn and bleeding. She felt a little foolish, a healer needing help from another healer, but she just gave the man a slight smile and said, "T-thank you. May I ask, is it... normal? To appear here from... other places?" Her voice was hesitant. She did not know if this man would think her mad or if using magic to travel in the blink of an eye was something normal for people of his land. After all, he possessed magic not unlike her own. Perhaps his mages were simply more advanced than those of Eng'gahli.

Sascha felt a bit bad that he might have frightened her as he hurried over to heal her injuries but it was in his nature. If he saw someone hurting he couldn't help but to do whatever he could te ease their pain. He got a bit one tracked minded when it came to issues like that, as stated he was 99% a healer and 1% the opposite which was a rare quality to find. Heck if he ACCIDENTALLY hurt someone he would probably cry himself to sleep for WEEKS. As the question came at him he stood up from the ground and looked at her a bit hesitant. When he had learned the truth he had broken down and it wasn't surprising that he shied away from hurting someone. He was pretty sure she would not like the whole deal of; no way back home. But he wouldn't like her to live on false hope either and then break down during a more dangerous point in time as she learned the truth. Especially since LongNight was around the corner.

"Well.." He started a bit awkwardly, trying to picture how to lay it out for her. "It is quite normal to end up here, yes. But unheard of to get back home.."

"I see," Rillian said. She was not sure how she felt at this news. There was nothing she'd left behind her that she hadn't already had cause to mourn, no attachment to her homeland that would make this turn of events tragic. Perhaps she was meant to come to this strange land, and that was why she'd dreamed of the light that had taken her to this place. To Caido.

"I thank you. For the information, and for your help," she said as she put her hands together before her and gave a slight bow. For a moment, Rillian hesitated, her gaze wandering to the dense woodlands around her.

"If I may trouble you a little longer," she said hesitantly, "is there a town or village nearby where I may be able to find shelter?"

Sascha was surprised over getting such a warm bow as a tank you since he hadn't met many else like him that bowed in thank yous. It was refreshing in a way and he bowed back as the good Chinese man that he was which felt good since that was a long time ago (it felt like at least) that he could do what he was raised to do. As her next question came involving to trouble him he blinked in surprise. Trouble? Oh no you are not troubling me at all miss! I was actually on my way back in to town and if you like you can sleep in my house until morning. I can fill you in on whatever you need to know if you like?"

No there was no trouble at all, besides he was indeed on his way back in to town and there would be no way he would leave her all alone in the middle of nowhere.

Rillian was rather surprised by the man's offer. She hesitated a moment, not sure if she could trust a complete stranger from an altogether different world than the one she knew. She'd always had a sense for people, though, and Rillian didn't think he intended her any harm. So she gave him another polite bow and said, "Thank you for your kindness. I will accept your offer of hospitality for the night."

She wasn't exactly sure what "filling in" entailed, as her mind could not put such words into a context she understood. But Rillian had questions, and she expected this was some sort of offer to address them. But where to start? Rillian had no concept of what this realm of existence was or what it might expect of her. Was it merely another realm of the Sun God where her pain and service were his expected boon for saving her from slavery? It seemed the sort of cruel joke that he would play on one of his priests.

"If you will lead the way, I sense that it would be best to be out of the forest before night falls," Rillian said. She had very minimal experience with the wilds outside of civilization, having grown up in the grand marvel that was the Marble City of Eng'ahli. However, her brief encounters with wildlife in the past few months had discouraged her from trusting such places.

Sascha smiled kindly towards her and bowed his head as well to thank for the thanking kind of deal. Maybe they would start a bowing olympics one of these days, it was just refreshing to go back some to his old ways to be fair. He of course didn't know that some terms where unfamiliar to her and had he known there would probably be more of an apologetic bow involved as well. But since he had no idea he just kept smiling until she asked him to lead the way. Getting a better hold of his loot he nodded his head towards the direction they were going towards before starting the thread through the forest. "You are actually pretty lucky, we are not far at all from the city. You see i'm a bit late and was on my way back home and have already walked for quite some time! If you look past the leaves you can see the lights of the city." He stated, nodding his head towards the flickering lights from peoples homes.

He actually was stocking up some supplies for longnight just in case that he was bored being locked away from all the monsters. Maybe that would keep him safer this year since now he wasn't ill and not wanting to move. How would it go this year? Would he survive? It was quite stressful to be honest.
