He takes another deep swig of the drink, wincing internally as it burns its way down. It’s clear he’s trying to do it to get as drunk as possible to numb himself from what’s happened, a clear haphazard attempt at stowing away the pain and anger and frustration of everything that’s occurred. It does little, however, the buzz hasn’t even begun before he hears her question.
He shakes his head, taking another deep sip before sighing. “I killed a cannibal.” He informs her as though it were nothing more than saying he’d gone out to grab the Sunday paper. But as he sets the mug back on the counter, leans onto it somewhat to run his hand through his hair, to rub at his temple… well.
“We got a dragons heart. Just not the one we’d hoped for.” A hollow laugh escapes him, spending a few more moments to run at his face before asking for a refill to be taken to his room for a more private conversation, before he gets too drunk and inevitably breaks apart. At least there it’s secure, it’s hidden aside from Maea.
Something tells him she wouldn’t care.
