i've seen fire & i've seen rain.
i've seen sunny days that i thought would never end
I'm a lava virgin, sadly. Remi called back, his voice surprisingly even for all that they were going through. He'd hardly even seen mountains before this, much less the earth opening up and vomiting molten rock. But diverting seems like a good enough plan to me He added with a mental grunt of effort.

But it was just hot rock. They should be able to best it, masterful wielders of earth that they were. Now if only they could breathe.

Reaching into the earth where the flow of lava seemed to be at its greatest, Remi tries to force a spire upwards, hopefully redirecting the bulk of the lava so that it starts to flow into the mote created by Jigano.

Using a mixture of telekensis and earth magic, Remi tries to keep the air within 5 feet of him clear of debris. He can't do much about the heat, but hopefully, he can shove the falling ash aside so that he can continue to breathe more easily.

"IF YOU CAN HEAR THIS—" The alchemist bellows loudly, the sentiment repeated mentally for any attuned around, "FUCK OFF TO THE BEACH IMMEDIATELY."

Remi tries to create a spire in the flow of lava so that it diverts around, flowing into the channel Jigano has made. He uses earth/telekinesis to try and clear the air around himself so he can breathe.
Speaks with a thick Italian accent.

Finally! It’s nearly a breath of relief as soon as he shifts and the people start to comply. He makes his way to Nate’s side nearly as quickly as he can, suddenly feeling the sand beneath his feet and the sea ahead of them. He shifts back, gulping down a breath of air to start to shout some sort of order when Nate’s hand reaches his shoulder and he glances over toward the Ascended as he speaks.

And holy shit, now is not the time.

A shuddering inhale as he tries to wrap his mind around focusing at the bigger problem – aka, volcano and saving people before giving Nate a nod to try and work through the pounding of his heart and the sudden whiplash of feelings and emotions that course over him – trying to get the people onto the block of ice. At the very least, it might help get them to the other side of Torchline and away from Haulani. He begins to step into the water, hopefully wading deep enough to shift to the whale form to push said platform.

Sunjata tries to help Nate get people onto the fishing boats and the ice platform before stepping into the water to shift to his whale form to try and help push it once they can get as many people on as possible.

It is a stark divide, these two worlds between beach and town. On the one hand, things at the beach are going... well. As good as can be expected. For a large majority, the crowds file onto the ice platform and the fishing boats, but Sunjata and Nate will notice that a few of those who panicked earlier (congrats, Crowd 3) are still a bit... pushy.

Some of the townspeople are being shoved into the water from the platform as more and more people attempt to pile upon it. It is not as easy as a push-me-pull-you - there will be some leadership required to keep civilians calm and to allow them all to get - and stay - on the slippery platform.

Saiden will arrive in time to see all of this unfold.

There is a different story back inland. All but abandoned by the group, it is up to Remi and Jigano to redirect the lava flow around the town. But who are they against a volcano? Let's find out.

Jigano's efforts are monumental, attempting to control the very magma itself, but it does begin to bend and flow at his touch. Further bolstered by Remi's earthen spires, the berm and the moat indeed seem to be doing the job. But if they look upwards they will see more lava, more mudslides, more... everything. Two men versus a mountain - the mountain will inevitably win. The two men must either change tact, or soon decide to flee.

Most of the townspeople file onto the ice platform, but some are panicking and shoving others into the water in their haste. Ash begins to clog the air at the beach.

Remi and Jigano continue to shore up the berm and the moat against the lava, and it will continue to hold for another two rounds.

The air quality in Haulani is now very poor.

Haulani infrastructure: 85%
Haulani air quality: 45%
Beach air quality: 65%

Whilst those who selected Option 2 will be able to divide their efforts between the town and the beach, those who selected Option 1 will not be able to return to town to aid their friends (or the infrastructure).

Post Order & HP:

Option 2 Saiden - 73
Option 1 Nate - 42
Option 2 Jigano - 373
Option 2 Remi - 328
Option 1 Sunjata - 130

As Saiden arrived at the beach he saw that the crowd hadn’t calmed down nearly enough. Scowling, he reached out to the ocean with his magic. It came to his call, hopefully and he lifted it threateningly, raising it on either side of him. ”No pushing!” It rang out as forcefully as he could manage.

He glared at the crowd, especially the ones on the ice raft. Then, warning and instruction given, he turned to the buildings closest to the beach. He began dousing them with water, hoping to keep them safe from any embers, ash, or maybe even lava that might get down this far.

Saiden orders the crowd to stop pushing, and threatens to blast them with water again if they don’t behave. He also begins to douse the buildings closest to the beach with water.

Water manipulation: Can manipulate water. Must be within a 30ft radius. Control is excellent

A smile is flashed towards Sunjata, more apology than mirth, then Nate is squeezing his shoulder and moving back towards the crowd. He doesn’t have magic to threaten the crowd with, but he’s not opposed to adding his voice to the din, shouting out instructions as he steps into the ocean.

Moving along the crowd is a struggle, but Nate does what he can, moving around the ice berg to the deeper water, trying to help people back onto the platform, lifting them and instructing those already on the ice to help, as much as possible. He doesn’t shift yet, needing arms to help still, but he’s ready to, to start pushing people to safety as soon as they’re all on the platform.

Nate moves around to the opposite side of the i energy to help people who have fallen off back on, as much as possible.

That makes two of us-- he started to say, but broke off to focus on wrestling with the lava thirty feet away. We need to divert it somewhere else somehow. Gods least fortunate, if only Frey or--

He went silent for a second as thoughts skittered and then solidified all at once. RAE!

With the first river of lava beginning to finally flow into the moat and around the city instead of through it, Jigano hoped it would help to drag some of what came after with it. Enough, at least, to do some digging of his own as he reached out with his Mastered Earth Magic and began tearing back the largest holes his power could manage at the edge of his range, as deep as he could make them as he began searching and flinging the excess soil and stone to strengthen the walls of their barricade. Rae’s Fingers! If we can get the lava and mudslides flowing down into them, they’ll channel it away from the city!

Jigano begins trying to create openings down into Rae’s Fingers with Mastered Earth Manipulation, pulling the extra earth and rocks up and adding them to the barricades to continue strengthening them. Maybe the new lava can be channeled down into the old lava tubes and away from the city?

Don't think they're listening. Remi replied dryly as Jigano's expletive took the form first of the herald of nature and then Rae themself. Sweat was pouring down his face and back from exertion as much as heat, and with breathing become and more ready problem, he was finding his energy dwindling faster than he'd have liked.

Under...? Remi began to repeat, sounding confused. He thought the air problem was their greatest worry, but perhaps if the inhabitants had already found their way to the beach, the ash above the town wasn't such a concern. Then again, if the air was toxic, underground might be their only option for survival for the next few days.

Lending a magical hand, Remi tried to remove the earth at the base of the spire and barriers; that way as the lava reached the town it would flow beneath into the Fingers and old lava tubes. Any that backed up would hopefully be stopped by the remaining barrier.

But the air. Something would need to be done about the air.

If this works, we need to reinforce the town...all this ash will make the roofs collapse. He was thinking of those with thatched rooves that would hardly be able to withstand this sort of height or weight. Now would be a good time for someone to spontaneously develop air magic Remi added, only half-joking. Stranger things had happened, after all.

Remi makes holes into the fingers as well as per Jigano's plan + reinforces current barriers to withstand anything that spills over.

The platform holds while people start to align on it, and Sunjata slips away from Nate’s side to try and get the rest of the crowd that still remains panicking to calm down. He can hear Nate’s voice, Saiden’s voice, and a multitude of words slipping from the crowd. And eventually, as he wades within the water and helps people along, he’s had enough of it. “Calm down! There’s room!” He shouts back to the crowd that’s pushing, unsure if there is really enough room but willing to try it out anyway while he focuses on something else to enforce it.

He reaches out for the pink hued dolphins he’d seen around in the waters here, hoping that they might be able to approach and corral those that try to stray or wander – perhaps enough to summon some clouds of rain to clear the air and wet the beach in case the city ends up truly lost.

Sunjata shouts at the crowd to get them to fall in line and reaches out to compel two Encantados to help corral the people onto the platform and hopefully bring a rainstorm with them to wet the beach!

The attempts to calm the crowd are mixed at best. For Sunjata he is (again, sorry) the unlucky one. Not only do the crowd nearest him not stop pushing, a few of those on the platform fall from it and into the water, landing atop the guildmaster.

He is at least able to compel the encantados, which race across the waves and attempt to corral those who have fallen into the water towards safety. A similar success is noted for Nate who is able to get the people back onto the platform safely.

Then Saiden arrives and his voice rings across the beach. Clearly it is recognisable, and the crowd - not wanting to be soaked again - file onto the iceberg in a more orderly fashion. All is going well, but for how long? Nate and Sunjata especially will hear the low whine of the ice struggling over under the weight of the townspeople.

Back in town, the tide is turning. The lava tide, that is. Jigano reaches deep, deep into the earth and breaches through to Rae's Fingers. The move is truly a stroke of genius in such dire times and, with Remi alongside him to help, the lava flow is successfully redirected downwards and into the smuggler's tunnels.

Haulani's infrastructure has been saved, miraculously. Now it's just a matter of reinforcing the houses, and getting the heck out of there.

The townspeople have been successfully corralled onto the ice platform, though it is groaning under their weight. Some of them do fall into the water also... onto Sunjata.

Remi and Jigano have successfully redirected the lava flow from the volcano into Rae's Fingers, and the town is no longer at risk of damage. Both are beginning to suffer damage from the toxic air.

Haulani infrastructure: 85% {SAFE}
Haulani air quality: 40%
Beach air quality: 60%

Display done, Saiden gathers up as much water as he can. Trusting Sunjata and Nate to take care of things from here, the cook turned his attention back to Haulani itself. There was still no sign of the lava or any fire or heat, but he wasn't willing to trust that would stay that way.

So he strode in to the city itself, wetting the buildings as he passed to again hopefully prevent any stray fires from cropping up. However, he began coughing almost immediately. The deeply unpleasant sensation of being unable to breathe unfolded within him. As it did, something else awoke inside of him.

The air around him began to stir as his air air magic did. He began pushing the ash and gas as far away from him and the buildings as he could manage. It turned out to be a lot farther than he'd ever gone before, and even with the danger, he grinned.

Saiden wets some more buildings. He also tries to clear the air as best he can, and move the toxicity away from himself and the buildings.

Water manipulation: Can manipulate water. Must be within a 30ft radius. Control is excellent
Air manipulation: Can manipulate the air. Must be within a 30ft radius and allows the user to levitate medium-large sized objects up to 5ft above the ground . Control is excellent.

Wrangling people is a hassle, and in any other situation, Nate would have given up long before this point. But his efforts seem to be working, at least a little bit, and it makes it easier to keep trying. It’s not perfect, and some people are still more in the water than they are on the ice, but they need to start moving. Ice and a volcano is not a mix that ends in their favour.

Nate leaves the few people left in the water to Sunjata, after a glance to make sure he’s not knocked out. Taking a moment to prepare himself, he taps into the power he’s stolen, shifting into an orca and bumping the ice towards the port, away from danger. He has to be careful, both with his strange new body and the ice itself, but if he can get it loving, they stand a chance of getting away.

Nate shifts into an orca and begins to push the ice as carefully as he can, trying to avoid jostling the people around too much.

It worked. Gods most fortunate, maybe Rae was listening after all. Jigano tossed a quick prayer of gratitude to the twin god just in case as he drew a deep breath of relief--

And promptly started coughing as the ash made it through his hair-scarf and lacerated his throat.

Healing himself as he spoke, he nodded weakly to Remi's observation. Not sure what we can do to reinforce the whole town, one building at a time. Maybe we should just use our earth magic to pull as much of the ash off the roofs - and sky - and into piles on the ground as we can? Easier to clean up later, when it's safe to come back, he suggested.

Satisfied that the lava was now directed downwards and away, he turned his attention to the buildings around him, reaching out as far as his magic could to draw the particles of floating mineral and glass from the air and roofs, condensing it into a neat mound in the center of the road, then moving on, zig-zagging a steady path to clear the roofs and air as he went.

It wasn't perfect, but even if he only shifted a few pounds of ash off a given roof now, it might be enough to stop it from collapsing later.

Jigano Heals himself to ease his breathing, then uses Mastered Earth Magic to collect the ash he can reach on roofs and in the sky, condensing it into neat piles on the road. He continues this as he begins a slow, steady zig zag through the city towards the beach, intending to lighten the load on the buildings he can reach as he goes.

Had....had it worked? Half expecting the ground to erupt beneath their feet at any moment, the alchemist continued to add smaller and smaller holes that any steam released would have a way out. But other than that, by all the gods—listening or not—it seemed to have worked.

The entire town owes you several drinks after that. Perhaps a stage named after you. The alchemist chuckled silently, not daring to open his mouth with the sky having turned grey with settling ash.

Agreed. Hopefully with the weight off, they'll be able to stay standing. Moving away from Jigano to widen their magical net, Remi pushed with both earth magic and telekinesis to remove the ash and debris from the rooves, settling it into neat piles on the ground. Or neat enough, anyways.

Well, he was free for a little while at the very least. Instead, as he compels the encantados to corral the stragglers, he focuses on trying to get the people onto the iceberg – distracted momentarily as the crowd continues to push and a few of the people atop the platform subsequently fall off of it onto him. And fuck, that hurts a fair amount.

So he tries to push up through those that had fallen, arms extended to help them get back onto the platform, but he can hear it groaning and it worries him a fair amount. But if they get enough people to the other side of Torchline away from the volcano, they can come back for more. The encantados continue to try and corral people to get them together for the next trip as Nate begins to try pushing the iceberg away. Sunjata shifts too, trying to push off and reach the iceberg to get out from beneath the people that had fallen on top of him as well as push the iceberg toward the other side to let people off.

Sunjata tries to get out of the people that had fallen on him, trying to help them get onto the platform before shifting to his orca form to help push (or get out of the tangle of people I guess depending on how this goes LOL) The encantados, meanwhile, still try to corral people.
