Nate can't stop the laugh that leaves him, actually leaves him out loud, at Wessex's immediate assertion regarding Sam. Well someone should tell him that then. There's no small amount of mean spirited glee in his mental voice, but he's far more willing to talk about himself, now that they've had a small bonding moment. Even if I don't deserve better, I've got it now. It had taken some messes, probably made more, but he was happy.
While Wessex shifts on the surface, Nate dips under it, taking a breath out of habit and sinking into the inky blackness. If he doesn't look up, there is nothing. Just an inky blackness that fades into true void. It feels like a strangely fitting place to be, when the Demi-gods next question rings in his head. I like what I gained. He answers immediately, pausing to consider his next words more carefully. It feels like... I lost more than I gained though. Not to mention the continued silence, shrines feeling more and more like churches back home, where everyone else seemed to feel something.
