WESSEX
the wraith
she tied you to her kitchen chair
she broke your throne and she cut your hair
A hundred years from now they might kill for something like this, she muses to herself, wondering what it might be to live as long as 108. Would they lose their emotions too? Would the world become otherwise dull and every new horror bring them scrambling to see what fascinating thing the world’s coughed up? Would death cease to phase them? It’s something the Wraith doesn’t care to contemplate right now. In fact, she pauses and tries to reassess what the pressure means for them.

Mmmm, that’s exactly how I felt about the Old Gods growing up. And that realization makes her both worried for him again, and a little sad that this has been his experience with the Goddess she so loves. Turning to totally face Nate, she tries to offer some sort of encouragement and consolation. I’m sorry. I don’t know why or when She appears and when She doesn’t. She’s left me empty-handed before, too. So it’s not just you, if that’s any consolation.

There’s a ghostly, pale - or shiny- movement of something that they might be able to see. A deep sea shark, but Wessex couldn’t possibly know those exist. Or maybe it’s the stirring of a tentacle. Either way, it’s time to go. Between the pressure and that, they’ve probably seen enough. Back up? If he agrees, she’ll adjust to head for the surface and begin to kick back out of the hole.
and from your lips she drew
the hallelujah
