It is time.
Nephele does not fear death, let that be known. She is a woman of science, and in a world of God's even those without piety understand they have somewhere to go when their time is up. Though normal to her, she is aware that her kind are blessed with their lifespans. It is simply that she would like to return that gift.
Eriadne is gone. The Ascended have desecrated and destroyed the Máthair. Her people are scattered and on edge. Those she has spoken to in her hunt for her twin try to tell her it's normal, that her sister is of an age for independence, but Nephele knows better. There is nothing in this world that would keep Eriadne from returning home, far less adventurous than Nephele, far more devoted to their territory. To her. Eriadne would come home, always, and nothing would stop her.

So Nephele flies. She is stoic and calm in the face of what she knows to be a suicidal endeavor. Yes, it will hurt in the moment. But then there will be peace, and Mort's loving arms, and she will be reunited with her sister at last. Her heart already hurts enough, what's a little more in the pursuit of eternal peace?
