Thankfully on the second go around the gate and fence seemed to hold steady (probably due to Deimos' work more than his own) and Bastien proudly admired it with his hands on his hips, nodding at the finished structure. "We can only hope they have been so successful as you and I, hm?"

All together, there was only one thing left to do: block the exits. Bastien admittedly was not entirely sure about the intelligence of this plan, wondering if being locked in the case of a monster breach was truly wise, but Deimos was the General and not him. Loyally he went to push furniture and nail up boards, whatever could be done.

At least this team effort goes farther than the previous events she has participated in, and Deimos' praise is met with a wry smile that speaks of how rare this kind of continued luck is. But Evie certainly isn't going to question it, not if it gets everything done quickly.

By the time they've run out of moss from their bags, every spare scrap utilized, the others seem to have finished as well. Evie stands, uncaring of the dust and dirt clinging to her hands, as natural to her as breathing. She moves with the small crowd to begin barracading the exits, helping whoever seems to need an extra hand.

DEIMOS
Fortune favored on this day; segments, boards, placed across any other exits successfully. Deimos had thoughts of uncertainty plaguing him on these notions too – but he also didn’t want anyone lured elsewhere. If worse came to worse, as it was prone to do, quick thinking, powers, and efforts would hopefully keep everything at bay (and gods, how he detested relying on hope). Their tasks and duties could manifest promise, precision, and predilection, and then everything else thereafter would come amidst the consternations, apprehensions, and upheaval. But they’d accomplished what they’d set out to do, and for that, he was grateful. “Done. Thank you everyone for your help.” A pause, a breath, glancing back over everything, accomplishments in storage, in quiet platitudes, in arms and alms. “Stay safe,” to those who’d be leaving them for other lands, and to those who would remain in these haunted grounds.

And he’d permit them to drift away, to come again on another hour, another day, when they would all become clustered in these thresholds, a sanctuary against the upcoming storm. The Sword had one last portion to the preparations, and grabbed hold of the jars of Ascended fluid and upgrade from Samuel, placing them down before the door. He also snagged the plaques previously designed and detailed, inscribed, etched, in his creation magic efforts – what Samuel had wanted, to ensure the world knew what he’d sacrificed. The herald would receive the same (though hers was purposefully larger; he figured she’d appreciate the sentiment). Once nailed to the aperture, all he had left to do was summon the goddess. Safrin, he noted, a quiet summoning within the threads of his mind. I have what you requested..

far side of the world
Though Safrin did appear, she was dim now. Completely sheer, as if not entirely tethered to the here and now, the goddess smiled soundlessly words Deimos as she looked at the jars and the strange mechanical device. If she noticed the plaque with Sam's name on it she gave no notice, but did indeed smile as her dark eyes wavered over the one announcing her efforts in all of this.

Silent still, perhaps intentionally? Safrin opened her hands though touched nothing before her. The fluid poured from the jars despite the physical laws holding it down, and it slathered itself evenly over the large door. Seeping in between the grains and grooves of the wood, Safrin did not stop until the entire door was saturated with it. Next Sam's upgrade floated into the air, pausing at the center of the door. In the blink of an eye it was thrust forward, rippling with hostile electric energy as Safrin seered its power and its genetic makeup into the door itself. When the light finally bled away, all that remained to signify anything at all had been done were the two plaques and the smell of electrical fire.

Soundlessly still, looking plagued and pained, the goddess disappeared.

The door to the main sanctuary entrance has been magically blocked thanks to Deimos (and you too, Sam). It'll definitely probably work just like Safrin said it would.

DEIMOS
Safrin was not herself, plain to see in the toiling and measures in which she appeared. His brows furrowed, and perhaps that was the only length of concern or apprehension he’d display, eyes watching as the magic took effect. Fluid maneuvered, slathered, lacquered, seemingly tethered to the wooden bombardments, and the upgrade followed, and he stepped back, well out of the way, as further magic instigated and ensued. Powers well beyond his measure curled, coiled, and electrified, and then nothing at all. His gaze lifted back to the goddess, his platitudes of persistent manners reaching through: “Thank you.” The aftermath, the question lingering along (are you all right?) wouldn’t reach any further into the fold, he knew better than that, but it’d be something he’d bring up to Amalia. Was it the press of LongNight, or something else altogether? Just one more insinuation of the world not being all that it seemed?

Regardless, perhaps for the here and now, they would have to pretend they were ready, for anything and everything.
