He can feel Nate’s arms growing tighter too, and he exhales a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding.
And maybe his throat is a bit tighter than he lets on initially, trying to swallow hard against the tension there. “What happened to ‘until the end?’” He asks with a breathy laugh, trying to cover up his worry – the idea that maybe… Maybe they should talk about what they really were, the ritual performed, what did that make them? Did it keep them as partners or more than that, with only Haai as their witness and an empty boxing ring to hear the confessions.
