When we can’t control fire,
we name it “wild”
After returning to the Greatwood proper, Alina had been restless. So she'd grabbed her bow and arrows and took to the skies. Flitting from tree to tree, she scanned the ground. Eventually she spotted a set of tracks and a grin spread across her lips for a brief moment.

She followed it from the air. Making sure she was downwind of the potential prey, she followed its trail for a while. Then she spotted it: a stag, head bowed, munching on some leaves.

Grabbing an arrow, she nocked it and pulled the string back. Taking a deep breath, she aimed, and release it. Unfortunately, the deer moved at the last moment, and the arrow struck it in the flank instead of the heart.

It bolted, leaving a trail of blood behind it. Growling in annoyance, she followed the crimson droplets and puddles. It was faster than her, but with a wound like that she'd catch up to it when blood loss tired it out.

Oliver
Just like Alina, Oliver was out for a hunt. He had to get some progress done while he wasn't sick. There wasn't enough food around the manor and he needed some fresh meat and plants for him (and whoever actually showed up to dinner anymore). That's when he picked up on the scent of blood.

Curious, Oliver broke out into a sprint, heading towards the source of the scent before he saw it: An injured deer, one who was bleeding out at an alarming pace. Normally, Oliver would take this opportunity to slay her, but he could smell something on her. Something familiar.

She was a mother... and had a fawn he had smelled earlier, but obviously didn't kill because what the fuck. Why would he kill a fawn?

Shifting down into his fox form, Oliver knew this was far less scary for the doe and made his approach. He tried to calm her down by showing he wasn't going to hurt her. Once given the chance, he had full plans of shifting back into a human and fixing her up nicely.

Finally, Alina caught up to her quarry. As she did, she frowned and rubbed her eyes with her free hand. She must still be recovering from her stint in the dust storm, as she could've sworn the deer she was hunting was a stag. However, a doe was standing before her, staggering from the wound and from blood loss.

It was too late now for the Fae to fix her mistake. The easiest thing would be to put the creature out of its misery. Taking out an arrow, the huntress nocked it and pulled the string back to her ear.

Then she loosed it. However, as she did a flash of movement caught her eye. She twisted with surprise and her shot went wide, thunking into a tree trunk. It was just a fox, though, and she grinned, pulling out another arrow.

OLIVER
A low growl leaves the fox as he finds himself shifting back into his human form, but not before making sure he was fully in front of the doe (obviously to be dramatic).

Standing tall in front of the doe, Oliver glares at the fae. "Please leave her be... I know I can help her." It is simple and to the point. He doesn't want to start a fight and he can understand why she'd choose to attack, but he also knows how important the doe is. The doe has a fawn, one probably very close by, and it would be awful to let that fawn die. Kill a stag, sure, but not a mother.

Oliver was prepared for opposition, but he hoped it wouldn't come to it. For now, he stared forward, his back straight and tense. Hopefully, it wouldn't come down to it, but he knew nothing of this fae. Nothing of how she'd treat him, especially seeing as she didn't even consider the fact that he could've been an Attuned.

As the fox shifted to human, Alina narrowed her eyes. An Attuned then, not that she particularly cared. As the man stepped in front of the doe, she snorted. Taking an arrow from the quiver on her hip, she nocked it and pulled the string back to her ear.

Aiming directly at the stranger and the deer she growled at him. "Move. It's too late to save her. Best thing to do is put her out of her misery at this point." With the amount of blood the animal lost, it would indeed be a mercy. Which is why the huntress loosed her arrow, figuring the Attuned would just duck out of the way.
