He doesn’t even know where he would run to. Already at the one place he’d ever consider as close to home as he could get. But he supposes, just as before, home was with the people you surround yourself with. He has his with Nate and Melita, with Ronin when the Star returns, with his fumbling friendships that mixed their way into his life. And perhaps that’s why he doesn’t need to run anymore, even if the thought terrified him. The thought of more people he loved and cherished being ripped away from him probably the largest fear he has now. One that would continue likely for the rest of his life.
“You can cheer with anything.” He replies, flashing an easy smile her way, bottling everything up once again to the depths of his mind, before his glass clinks against hers and he downs the rest of the liquid in his. His attention returns to her after he’s set the glass down, when she nudges him with an elbow and speaks.
It’s… Sweet, really. A similar talk he’s gotten with Vai, a similar one with Ronin. And it instantly shifts the smile toward something a bit more playful, even if it doesn’t reach his eyes entirely. “Good. I need someone to kick my ass now and again.” He leans in a bit, shoulder bumping against her leg as he evens out on the couch and looks across at the ring theyd left prior. “If you’re up for it, that is.” Steel slide over to her face, that roguish smirk playing on his lips even if it seems hollow.
