She was among her last few days before moving, everything seemed to be in order, she planned to leave for Halo in a few days time. She'd been so caught up in leaving that she'd forgotten about some of the little things that had made her want to stay. Lots of her good memories were in her items, her trinkets that she'd picked up from friends, memories and stories. But there was also the fields, the tall grass that turned a multitude of colors and textures and always came back to soften her naps.

Aisha didn't nap upon the grass now, but she did enjoy the traction it gave her as she practiced some strikes against an invisible enemy, nestled under a tall tree. The sky was overcast, but she could be the sun, bright and golden and full of fire.

Iris was not lost, she was merely wandering.

And as her wandering dragged on, she marveled at how indistinguishable the fields were from one another. Luckily, she was well stocked for the excursion. Her pack contained salted meat and a bottle of disappointingly mild liquor she'd acquired at the Settlement's market.

After what seemed like way too long, she came upon another person. Curious, she approached, finding a warrior in fierce battle with the air. Despite the unformidable opponent, the woman's movements appeared practiced, form flowing as she danced across the grass. "I think you're winning." She noted, once she was within the stranger's hearing range. She stood at a safe distance, where her bow remained effective, just in case this particular stranger wasn't as glaringly friendly as the rest of the people she'd met in the Grounds.

Her's was an unfamiliar face, but a beautiful one. She caught Aisha off guard, pulling her from her practice maneuvers with a wild turn of her head. Her blonde curls followed after, landing in front of her face before settling back to frame it. The words that the other spoke registered moments after she'd looked her over, cautiously landing for a moment on the bow at her hip before turning to her eyes, a smile spread across Aisha's face.

"Sometimes I throw the match just for fun, gotta give em a chance," she replied sarcastically, swinging her blade up to rest on her shoulder. She considered the other for a moment before shaking her head, "I've never seen you around," she commented, prompting an explanation, a response. She was curious as always.

A smile spread across Iris' face in response. She noted the ease with which the girl handled the steel in her hands, strength reflected in grace. Iris was curious. There, in the middle of the solemn monotony of the farmlands was a stranger, like a flame in the grass.

Approaching seemed equally dangerous and exciting. "I haven't been in the Grounds long." Making up her mind, or perhaps drawn to the only sign of life on the moist fields, she unstrung her bow and walked over, leisurely. "I've been wondering what Grounders did for fun," Iris offered, playfully. "Though I was hoping you had a decent bar hidden behind a bush, somewhere."

Aisha nodded as the other woman explained, a smile resting on her face. She'd planned for alone time with the grounds, her home that would soon be that no more. Practicing in the fields and reflecting on the year gone by. But company would be welcome instead, especially company that carried a weapon, the promise of some kind of warrior or hunter at least. She gave a huff in response to the humorous comment. "You and me both," was her answer, shifting her grip on her weapon and bringing it down and to it's sheath.

"I know a few bars if that's what you're looking for, but considering you're out here maybe that's something for later?" she asked, a playful smirk on her face as she moved her hands to her hips, their usual comfortable position.

"Aren't you a ray of sunshine?" Iris beamed. The last few days have been solemnly gray. Wandering these benign parts she'd hoped to acquire a taste for the Grounds' beauty, but it had been hard going. Brooks, fields and forests were fine and good, but Iris was ready to sample the entertainment. Hopefully it provided some much needed vibrancy - or a fine distraction.

Speaking of distractions. "We could go right now. Unless you'd like to finish your opponent off first?" She came to a stop past the canopy's edge and gave a nod at the air beside the hazel-eyed girl.

Aisha gave a huff of amusement at the response. She tried to be friendly when she could, and when she felt like it. There were times when her rays of light were a bit too hot, angry, and those around could sizzle like an ant under a magnifying glass. But usually her beams were pleasant, relaxed, and humming. "You could call me that, name's Aisha though," she replied teasingly, with a slight nod.

Aisha considered the options the younger girl gave, then quirked a brow, "My opponents pretty beat, but if you want to tap in for a few rounds I wouldn't mind." The bow at the other's back had intrigued her, a fighter or a hunter? "Don't have to though, rums always a good placeholder."

"I'm Siri," Iris replied, quickly getting used to the sound of her pseudonym and enjoying the freedom that came with it. She preferred a fresh identity to inviting unnecessary risk and danger on her travels. And with a new identity came a new life, new acquaintances, new... sparring partners?

She came closer, circling the wild-haired girl and her weapon as she considered the offer. Definitely a difficult opponent. Iris' strategy was quick and fluent, hit and run. In a standoff, especially one with a physically strong opponent she was, more likely than not, outmatched. Still, a challenge like this was alluring.

She parted the edges of her coat slightly, revealing a pair of daggers at her hips. "I'm game." She slipped one of the blades out of its holster, threw it upwards and caught it by the hilt, feeling the balance of the familiar weapon. "I'm afraid I'm armed with toothpicks in comparison." She nodded towards the sheathed sword. "You won't be too hard on me?" She asked, a glint of challenge in her smile suggesting she wasn't going to give up easily either way.

The dark haired girl gave her name, Siri, and Aisha watched as this Siri came closer, watched her observe. She could see the gears turning in the other's mind, see her contemplate her chances. It felt good to be appraised, especially when deemed worthy by the end of it. The leopardess grinned when Siri agreed, watching her reach into her coat and producing a pair of daggers. "Course not, if I do there'll be no one to drink with after."

It almost didn't feel like a fair fight, unless the other was very fast. Aisha usually relied on calculation, brute force, well timed swings, but she was still quick. She had the advantage of range, and would certainly do her best to keep the other at a distance. It'd be interesting at least, and that was really all it would take to hook the cat.

She brought her sword up into a defensive position, pommel high and blade angled down and crossing her body. Come on.

Chuckling at the remark, Iris unstrapped the bag from her shoulder and laid her bow gently in the grass beside it. Then, she turned back to her opponent with a smirk that didn't travel up to calculating eyes.

Her dagger's twin slipped into her free hand in a fluid motion. Hours spent chipping away at various opponents (although admittedly, most of them had been training dummies) made the weight of metal disappear, steel becoming as natural a part of her as the flesh of her palm. But there was still the issue of living, breathing opponents. Actual flesh and bone. Although she'd happily spar with anyone who would indulge her, she felt that her family name and age made most hold back their blows.

She suspected Aisha had no cause for any reservations. Her eyes lit up in a peculiar way when her blade left its sheath. And so Iris stepped forward, turning the blade in her right hand inwards and moving in at the girl's left. She attempted to flank her, but approached bent at the knees, ready to jump back out of the way of the sword's edge.

The sword's edge would not be aimed today, she had no intent to cut in this spar. Rather her grip would be shifted to fight with the flat of her blade, the dull sides that might sting or bruise but nothing more. With that alteration in mind she shifted strategy, keeping any thrusts at bay and rather focusing on getting wide swings in, to knock the wind out of her opponent or send her stumbling away. This would be her only reservation, she would not go easy in this match.

Siri made the first move, the younger woman taking some steps in, trying to get close. Aisha did not want that, so she too moved. Right when Siri went left, avoiding any close confrontation. Her sword moved with her, taking the momentum of her step and swinging out towards the other's side, aiming to thwack her there.

There was a decision to be made - in or out.

Aisha was quicker than Iris expected. She saw strength and didn't assume such admirable flexibility. Still, somewhere between realizing this miscalculation and meeting the warrior's wide swing Iris made the decision to be bold and stepped inwards. She would win no points against Aisha by hesitating, and undoubtedly quite a few bruises.

She was just quick enough to avoid the large part of the blade, getting knocked by the cold steel just above the hilt, with not enough force to detrimentally disrupt her balance. She quickly widened her stance, digging her heels into the grass, and flipped the blade in her left hand aiming the hilt at Aisha's ribs, right beneath the armpit. Her hope was to hit her with enough force to make lifting that giant blade more painful.

Unfortunately, Iris wasn't as well equipped for close-combat offense as she was for evasion.

Aisha did not at all expect this reaction to having a sword aimed at your side, but considering this was a spar and the sword was not a true adversary, maybe it was the right decision. Allowing herself to take the burning flat of a sword, a spot that would certainly earn a bruise, Siri other took that opportunity to move in and get at Aisha.

Aisha moved as quick as she could, but the move surprised her, and ultimately the pommel of the younger woman's knife met the soft skin below her ribs. In a real fight, Siri wouldn't have had the opportunity to make this move, she would've been bleeding at the seems. But in this moment, it was smart, she was cunning, and Aisha was impressed.

Though not much by the force of the hit, stinging as it was it lacked the brawn of a warrior. Aisha sucked in air fast at the impact, drawing away but feeling the burn and switching her dominant arm in response. The swordmaster eyed Siri with fire, excitement, then lunged in again. Her opponent had proven speed, so Aisha had to be smart. She made as though to swipe at the woman's stomach again, but at the last moment sweep her blade lower, aiming to trip.

The pain in her side was easily overshadowed by the satisfaction that filled her up at the small victory. A silent grin sharpened her features as she moved in again, without hesitation. Another swing of the sword and Iris was moving in on the warrior's right, pressing the advantage she'd etched in her ribs.

Her grin dropped when the sword's swing changed trajectory, aiming to trip and incapacitate. A new sense of danger came with the assault, with the fear of meeting the imposing weapon at full force. Iris, without much room for thought or strategy, jumped.

A chill as sharp as lighting coursed through her body as the sword's edge scraped against the bottom of her boot. Only a hitched chuckle left her lips, whether amusement or relief, lasting only for a moment after her feet landed on the grass - both safe and whole. In the next moment, she was charging. Pushed to Aisha's left by the clever attack she once again moved to erase the distance. She aimed for the girl's diaphragm in an ambitious hilt-first swipe graciously fueled by a sudden burst of adrenaline.

It was only when she stepped on the foot that had just come in contact with Aisha's sword that she noticed a chunk of her sole had been scraped off. This made her slip further forward on the grass and shifted her aim lower on Aisha's abdomen. Hoping to mitigate the literal slip-up, Iris quickly moved to change her stance, hoping to get a proper grip on the terrain below and move further behind the agile warrior.
