The monster pauses briefly to regard Isla. However things made of gears and sinew, not unlike the rest of the ascended, do not frighten terribly easily. The manticore is intimidating, but like anything else, it can be killed.

Nate 's arrow sings toward the monster, shooting into part of its neck, as the ascended stabs the boggart once again, removing the last semblance of Sunjata's appearance as life drains entirely from its body. Adam 's arrow is not quite so accurate, narrowly missing the monster's eyes. The bad luck continues as Kiada unleashes a spire of ice toward the creature. Whether it's because of Kia's lack of practice with such an item or the creature's speed,  the blast goes wide, leaving an ice slab sticking out of one of the hedges.

Targeting Kiada and Adam, the monster opens its jaws and aims a beam of brakish and black energy at each of them. Both are struck directly, their energy levels sapped despite the lack of pain. Kiada's armor has absorbed part of the blast, shielding her from the worst of the attack.
