MORGAN
And oh, poor Atlas
The world's a beast of a burden
It felt good to be making strides again, doing what her people wanted and helping them to achieve what they felt would make the Citadel more their own. Personally, Morgan wasn't too invested in the idea of a Greenhouse; she'd never been a fussy eater, was fine with the meat and hardy vegetables they could get, but this was important to her citizens, so she would put into it just as much effort as she would anything else.

Luckily, by now she'd had some experience in setting down foundations and buildings. As always she'd gotten together a team of the best worksmen in the Citadel, taken instruction from them about how this would work. Luckily Frey was going to handle the main construction (or at least, she hoped so), so they were just to choose a place and build the foundation.

There were a few locations, but first they needed to gather a team to consider them. She had asked for anyone interested in selecting a place and beginning the work to meet her at the gates. Dressed in her usual heavy, dark cloak and with an even stare out into the Tundra, Morgan waited for them to arrive.

Noah followed Morgan out of their Council Hall, just long enough behind her not to catch up until she waited for the rest of the organizing party to join her. He sidled up to her, smiling some. "You were quick this morning. Almost missed you leaving the hall." Had it not been for his office door being wide open, he would have. "Any idea who all will be joining us?" He asked, making sure his jacket was tight around him. While they were coming into the warmest of the seasons, the wind today was biting.

Noah was glad to be working shoulder to shoulder again with the Warden. In the last few months, while they both toiled restlessly in their roles, the two of them had not worked closely together. Noah spent a lot of his days listening to the people, moving about the Citadel, and documenting his correspondence and leaving his notes for Morgan to go over in the morning. She had not come to him to go over anything, but he knew that she was working to help with the information given. Now, though, together they were working on the need of their people. Building the greenhouse was something that Noah continued to look forward to.

Maybe, in the dark depths of his mind, he thought Delphine might come back if the greenhouse was here.

DEIMOS
ache first, but then let the cuts close
spit out the blood
Deimos, of course, did not come from the Council Hall. He wasn’t even remotely near his office (because he avoided it at all costs), but within the confines of the barracks, once more delivering instruction into training regimes. He only oversaw a few multitudes and rotations before assigning the tasks to another formidable soldier, duties stretching along the indicated time that Morgan would be meeting with the rest of the assembled to lay out of the foundations of the greenhouse. Zuriel trailed alongside, leaving Belial to float above and harass other warriors.

He wound his long hair off his shoulders, placed furs back on, and carried on along the Citadel grounds, the unicorn doing the same in swift strides and measures, until he noted the gathered amidst the chosen area, settled into their spaces. Workers, some familiar, some not, hastened around, and then he offered a nod towards Morgan, Noah, and any others coming towards the same intrepid notions.

AISHA
Aisha too did not come from the council hall, but from the guild hall. The guildmaster was decidedly very involved in the greenhouse project, showing up for whatever she could to help. Halo had welcomed her and her ambitions so kindly, so it was her turn to give back to them whatever she could. Adorned in her warm hides, golden ribbon and sword at her side, she arrived to meet the usual bunch. Deimos and Noah seemed to be everywhere, but so was she. With a grin the leopardess joined the other Halovians, standing by Noah and Morgan, nodding to Deimos in all his stoic silence.

"I never would've expected this turn out," she mused sarcastically to her fellow hunter, playful and light in tone.

MORGAN
And oh, poor Atlas
The world's a beast of a burden
First to arrive was Noah; Morgan gave him a nod and a smile, surprised that he'd been paying attention to when she'd left. The Warden had always been an early riser and quick person, punctual almost to a fault (usually arriving far earlier than she needed to to most events). "No, I'm not sure. This is a decision that will affect all of us, so I put out the offer to anyone interested. We will see."

It seemed Deimos and Aisha were the only remaining citizens interested in the location of the Greenhouse; She welcomed both of them and snorted at Aisha's comment, offering a shrug. "It will mean less infighting about the decision. I am happy with this amount of people." Enough to bounce a conversation off of, but not too many that the location would become a huge issue.

So, they began the tour. First Morgan took them out of the gates and turned to look forward at the Citadel, the walls and posts of the main gate rising up over them. "The first place we could build the Greenhouse would be along this wall out here. The benefit here would be that it was easily accessible for hunters or travellers, and the greater security around the wall would have it be easily protected. However, obviously, it's not wonderfully convenient for most people, and is separated from the rest of the Citadel if we for any reason need to stay within the walls."

Then they went back in through the gates, up the road to the half-remains of the Palace and the Council Hall snugly beneath it, where a space was available in what used to be an ornate courtyard - Morgan didn't really have use for such things. "Here would be central to the Citadel and the positioning by the Hall might make it more clear that this is a communal resource. The central location would make it good for deliveries and exports and it would be easy to guard in the event of a siege on the Citadel." Not that she felt that was coming any time soon (or at least, she really hoped not), but it was good to always be prepared.

Finally, she turned right and went down the streets and alleys that lead to the village and homes in Halo, where bars and small stalls mingled with residential gardens and yards. Some turned to look at the Warden passing by, some didn't seem to notice; Morgan stopped by the inner wall, where a ruined house had rotted away over time. "This is the final possible location. It is hidden from the gates and most of the main streets, so anything valuable stored within the Greenhouse is better protected. It's position here among the houses means that people would be easily able to take food if they needed to. As with the outer position, the proximity to the wall does mean it will be well protected. However, it will be quite out of the way for a lot of the workers and couriers that need to access it."

Hands clapped together, she turned to the three. "Opinions?"

DEIMOS
ache first, but then let the cuts close
spit out the blood
The Sword arched a brow at Aisha’s comment, but thereafter remained the quiet, diligent General as they wound their way through the streets, passing along familiar routes now outlined and flanked by other considerations. He appreciated Morgan’s descriptions and the parameters involved in the selection of the greenhouse area; a calculating, analytical figure by notions of means, measures, wars, and battle frameworks, but not without his air for diligence, and overall protection. Each insinuation had their own pros and cons, from the distance between citizens, to the comparable arch of shielding proportions, or the underlying condemnation of any siege.

When they’d completed the tour, standing nearest the ruined house, the fallen walls, the beast’s mind unfurled each scheme and pragmatic, before delivering his answer in the residual, rumbling tones. “I liked the second location due to its proximity and access for everyone in the community. It could also be guarded by the Shields in the Barracks, given its close vicinity.” Bearing in mind how many traversed by on a daily basis on their walks towards the market square, the notice boards, or anything else lacquered in between, it might be a considerable venue. Deimos’ eyes flicked back over to the rest of his constituents, pondering over the Naturals’ inclinations, trusting them to have a greater, grander standpoint – they knew the land, the world, far better.

AISHA
Morgan heard her comment, Aisha glanced the warden's way as she replied to it. The shield had no problem with this number either, it would make for a quicker decision, an easier tour. She nodded, offering a light chuckle at the response. And thereafter they set off, visiting each potential site and proffering pros and cons for each. Even with her playful and mildly sardonic mood, Aisha would take the task seriously. The placement for the greenhouse was just as crucial to it's success as it's foundations, it's growth and outcome.

When they were finished touring there opinions were asked. Aisha had it down to the internal locations, by the palace or in the residential district. Both had pros and cons, but she was almost skewed towards the residential area, so everyday people could easily access it. It might bring some more work to the outer areas of Halo, where most of the action seemed so planted to the center of the Citadel. So she voiced her choice, "I like the third option, it spreads our resources out so not everything is hinged on the city hall area. And I feel like integrating it with the residences would promote the community's interest in it. Make it feel like it's theirs, ours, just as much as it is for exports and trade."

Deimos and Aisha are the ones that arrive and ultimately answer his question. The hunter is not surprised that they are here, aiding in this effort. Deimos seemed to put his hand into everything when it came to aiding the people of Halo, and Aisha was excited enough and activity was like a magnet to her. For outlanders, they were truly dedicated to making Halo their home, it seemed. Noah appreciated that, and each were greeted with an earnest smile before they all set off to explore the options.

Noah, in typical fashion, listened silently as they traveled throughout Halo to the places Morgan had been thinking would be good fits for the Greenhouse. She had a point for each location, each one incredibly convincing on its own. Deimos and Aisha both gave their input, and the hunter finally spoke his piece. "The third location is best for the citizens as a whole." He paused, looking to Morgan before turning his attention back out to them all at large. "Those who will need to travel further to the Greenhouse can afford to, but in this location it serves those who do not have the ability to traverse far. There are quite a few elderly, now, that are standing on the doorstep of being shut ins--but I think having this in an attainable position for them might hold that off."

MORGAN
And oh, poor Atlas
The world's a beast of a burden
They all gave their reasoning to her, all of it sound; she understood both what Deimos and the other two had to say, but it was a majority rule. Regardless, it would be within the Citadel and hopefully able to provide it's benefits to them within the next season. "Then it seems like we'll put it here, by the wall. I suppose it's useful that we're already stood here." With a little joking smile she turned with her hands on her hips to look over the space.

A makeshift coop had been constructed on one corner, blatantly ignoring the marked out space; an elderly man in a rough farmer's garb sat by it, holding a squawking chicken in his arms. Several others pecked around in the ice and snow, which was strewn over the ground; Deepfrost had been warmer in the Citadel, but not by any means hot. Halo was still Halo and snow had always been a part of the scenery.

"If two of you could stay to clean out this space --" Morgan asked, pointedly glancing over at the man with his chickens. "--I will need one person to come with me and fetch things from the builders. We only need to build the foundations. It should hopefully not take too long."

---
Place 3 it is - by the residental/agricultural area. Sorry Deimos!

Now that we have a place we can start setting the foundation - but first we need to tidy up.

1. A stubborn farmer has decided to keep his chickens here. He will need to be convinced to move.
2. The Halo classic, snow and ice are accumulating around the corners and edges and must be cleared.
3. Help Morgan to bring in the supplies from the builders - lifting and hoisting large pieces of stone and wood.

AISHA
Choice three for the win, Aisha gave a small smile, avoiding the temptation of 'haha'-ing at Deimos. Her and Noah's reasoning was apparently sound enough, and Aisha was satisfied. Hopefully by the end of the project, everyone would be, or at least find some use for the greenhouse and it's crop.

Building the foundations came next, Aisha eyed the old man and his chicken as Morgan gestured their way. Normally she'd be happy to take on the persuasive task, boasting her friendly and charismatic demeanor. But wasn't somebody else supposed to be working on that, the opening up and being amiable bit? She shot Deimos a look, playfully jumping her brows at him before turning quickly to follow after the warden. "I can help you," she hummed, taking up next to the other warrior's side.

From there she'd follow her to the supplies and help load, carry, and transport anything that needed moving.

DEIMOS
ache first, but then let the cuts close

A shrug rippled through his shoulders as the decision didn’t go in his favor; muffling a very quiet snort at Aisha’s look. In truth, he wasn’t bothered at all, and presumed Noah’s discernments would be far more than his own – it scarcely mattered, as long as they could ensure the greenhouse’s construction would be brought forth.

As the necessities and plans were orchestrated, he caught the fellow Shield’s look, and had a sudden sense of panic – glancing over at the farmer, and knowing full well his charisma was fundamentally lacking, his eyes widened. As she quickly snagged at Morgan’s request, his options swiftly dwindled, and he snagged at the Halo fundamentals. Sorry Noah. “I can clear the snow and ice.”

And so he set about towards the first corners, where the man and his chickens weren’t lingering, intending to utilize his fire and water incantations to unfurl and chip away at the rime.

While normally not a prideful man, Noah felt warmth spread through his chest as Morgan agreed to place the Greenhouse where he --and Aisha -- had suggested. Morgan had always heard Noah, and trusted his word, but it was a nice feeling deep within him every time it happened. When he had satisfaction in his work, he felt he was moving towards his purpose, and that brought him peace.

The Warden laid out what needed to happen, and the warmth that spread through Noah's chest turned cold as he moved his eyes to the farmer. The hunter frowned for a moment as the weight of his title fell on his shoulders. While in office the man usually had others come to him for help or was used as a middle man to help settle disputes -- but Noah had never had to change someone's mind like he would need to do today. Taking in a deep breath and summoning all of the courage within him, he set out to speak to his fellow Halovian.

"Hey," his voice was smooth as he closed the distance to the chicken farmer, and lowered his body into a crouch, "Arnold, right?" Noah recognized the farmer from the old, dingy bar in Halo that most people frequented before the construction of the Kraai. The older man grumbled in response, holding his chicken a little tighter. "We're going to construct a Greenhouse, you know." Noah tried to make it seem as though he wasn't uncomfortable with this situation by keeping his face soft and his eyebrows slightly raised. "But we can't do that with your flock living here. I know that there is some room over by Chulane's ningo farm, and he would be glad to accommodate your chickens. How's that sound?"

MORGAN
And oh, poor Atlas
The world's a beast of a burden
Morgan and Aisha set off to get their supplies in good spirits, but upon arriving would find the builders shop in quite some disarray; some family argument or internal business matter had erupted and delayed the preparations. Morgan swiftly used her status as Warden and the fact they were doing Important Business be known, but it would still take a while for the supplies to be gathered into the correct amounts. With little else to do, she leaned against the wall and waited, turning to ask Aisha: "How are you finding your time in Halo so far?"

Deimos, managing to swerve social interaction, went to sort the ice and snow. For a while it was uneventful, the ice becoming water and washing away over cobbles and through cracks. Soon though, as Deimos was clearing out a corner, the snow being removed dislodged something that clattered to the ground. Upon further investigation (and after coming within dangerous proximity to his foot) he would see it was a blade, hastly made out of rough metal with a wrapped bandage for a hilt.

Going to talk to the man and his chickens, Noah would have slightly more success than the others. The farmer narrowed his eyes at the approach, but upon hearing his name nodded and relaxed a little, listening to the rest of what Noah had to say. Unfortunately though, it wouldn't be quite that easy. In a thick accent and with not a small amount of bitterness, the man replied: "Not puttin' my birds with that Outlander. He don't know how t' look after a gnat's ass. I'm only movin' if y'promise me he won't touch 'em."

---
Rolls:
Aisha: 1 - Nothing to do but wait and chat for a round.
Deimos: 4 - Deimos finds a rather dangerous looking improvised knife under the ice. What to do with it?
Noah: 10 - Convince the farmer Chuy isn't going to do anything untoward with his chickens

DEIMOS
ache first, but then let the cuts close

Customary means and machinations, so much that he hardly had to concentrate on their form and flow, ebbed and contorted from his mind – until there was a unmistakable clink upon the stones. He ceased with the water and ice proportions for a moment, looking down to find a blade very close to his boots, crouching downwards, raising it with air proportions so that he might inspect it without his hands twisting over the roughened proportions. Someone had clearly fashioned it out of unwieldy circumstances, and his eyes narrowed in the pondering wiles of his normal machinations. Better to be safe than sorry, he conjured some wrappings, and turned, twisted, them around the object, until he could find a better manifestation of disposal, or find its owner.

Thereafter, he pocketed the blade in some portion of his deep furs and jackets, and set back to work, resuming his pace with the residual maneuvering of the icy throng (listening, perhaps, because he was very nosey, to the conversation occurring nearby; and struggling not to laugh).

--

Deimos wraps the blade up and puts it in his pocket, then continues trying to clear out the ice and snow.
