A blender in a lightning storm, disguised as a blessing I'm sure
Rubble begins to fall on top of them, and the dragon snarls his anger even if it’s washed with a fraction of victory for the lightning hitting the target. It’s a bittersweet victorious hit, and Sunjata shakes to try and rid himself of the rocks, another louder hiss and snarl leaving him as he follows Ronin, hoping to grasp Haai in his talons on his way up.

He tries to break the surface, following after Ronin’s dragon, to which he turns back just enough to unleash another bubbling lightning attack down at the gargoyle, pouring all of his hurt and grief and anger into the attack.

Sunjata tries to snatch up Haai with his back talon as he takes to the sky with Ronin and sends another blast of lightning down at the gargoyle.

REMI
then it went dark
Oh, am I invited? The kraken snarks back. Normally Ronin and Sunjata drank just with the two of them, though right now wasn't really the time for Remi's jealousy when it came to the two men to rear its ugly head. There was already too much ugliness just now as it was.

Sliding his hulking body across the sand and realizing he wasn't able to breathe, Remi wastes little time in trying to reach down into the cavern (which was now just a big hole), to try and grapple the gargoyle. If he could manage it, he'd raise it up to try and give both Sunjata and Ronin a free shot on it before being forced to shift back. I know I have 8 legs and just brought a rockfall onto your heads but watch your aim.

Remi reaches into the cavern to try and grapple the gargoyle in his tentacles and then hold it up for Sunjata and Ronin to get a free shot.

For any caravans who have the misfortune of finding themselves near the boneyard, they will see a kraken suddenly sprout from a hole in the desert, following swiftly by two dragons that seem to rise out of the ground like water from a fount. Turning, the star-bellied dragon blasts a stream of celestial fire at the gargoyle, which writhes and screams from deep in its stony pit. Unlikely, as Sunjata grabs Haai's limp body with one of his talons, his lightning attack is evaded by the gargoyle (perhaps already anticipating the beast's anger based on its lifeless companion).

Before it can attack, two large tentacles wrap around it like curious fingers, binding wings and legs. Its tail remains free though, prehensile and long as it is, and though Remi has the creature grappled, it is still able to try and snap its hooked talon at his tentacle. The kraken is able to avoid the wandering barb with a quick shake.

Struggling the gargoyle tries to break out of Remi's grip, but is unable.

Across the sands, the three landsharks draw closer.

there exists a tipping point between gods and monsters
This form is dangerous, and from the moment his attack hits Ronin knows (in the shrinking part of his logical mind) that he's going to need to be talked down from it after this. With a deep shriek that reverberates across the desert, the dragon both roars his victory and cries out for whatever grief Sunjata is still feeling.

The landsharks are given very little attention, not when there's a kraken holding the gargoyle nice and still. With his chest and throat aglow once more, Ronin lazily circles around the hole in the ground, waits until he's in the perfect spot, and unleashes another barrage of celestial fire at the stony prick.

Ronin dragons about and strikes at the gargoyle a second time with his celestial breath.

He scoops Haai up into a taloned foot and takes to the sky, growling and roaring his displeasure as the lightning blast misses its target. His predatory senses tell him of the landsharks that approach and with yet another snarl. He turns, trying to rise higher into the sky, and he reaches out with his Attuned abilities in the hopes of latching onto one of the landsharks.

And using that compelling ability of his, he tries to send one of the landsharks careening into the gargoyle, hoping that perhaps he can avoid Remi’s tentacles and simply get the shark to sink its teeth into the strange, tense meat of the gargoyle.

but baby i've been here before; i've seen this room and i've walked this floor
Holding out the gargoyle like some sort of stony bit of meat for Ronin to cook for him, Remi tries to close his eyes and tilt his head away from the barrage of celestial fire. Very much doubting he's going to get out of this without being injured by his husband or the Flood, Remi does his best to concentrate on holding still that the other two might get in their attacks.

Needing to breathe and thus being unable to retain this shift, Remi tries to throw the gargoyle into a nearby rib cage of some long-dead gargantuan creature, before shrinking dramatically and growing wings. Rising into the sky, just a man amidst two dragons (and landsharks now, apparently), Remi looks toward Ronin. Should we divide and conquer? Or just stay up high enough to deal with this thing? He wonders, unclear if the landsharks are 'on' the gargoyle's side and thus an obstacle to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

Remi tries to throw the gargoyle into some bones, and then shifts and takes flight partially-shifted.

Ronin 's blast of celestial fire burns the gargoyle and the tentacles holding it. Now it's unclear just where the savoury smell of charred meat is coming from. Surf and turf, anyone? As Sunjata compels landshark 1 out of the ground, it rises to ram into the gargoyle which necessarily hits Remi as well.

Thrown into a pile of bones, the gargoyle is quick to shake itself off. Flaring its own wings it takes to the air and races toward the man who had previously been grappling it. Remi is too quick, and the gargoyle isn't stupid enough to waste its energy on him. With a screech it points to the sand below and all at once the two remaining landsharks appear. Only they don't just appear, they fly up from the sands, swimming through the air just as easily as they did through the desert.

Landshark 2 goes after Ronin, while Landshark 1 goes after Sunjata. The starry dragon is able to evade his flying attacker, but Sunjata is not so lucky. The landshark's jaws snap shut around the Flood's tail, tearing away scales in a flash of white teeth.

No one has asked Ronin to reign himself in yet (or even try to consider it), and so it's with pure beastly delight that the dragon responds to the suddenly flying snacks landsharks.

This is the best day, he all but purrs down the Attuned bond to no one in particular, thoroughly ignoring the gargoyle now to follow his instincts, which apparently tell him to chase the fishies.

C'mere, you! He goes after Landshark 2, his jaws opening wide to roar another blast of celestial energy at the creature.

A snarl leaves Sunjata as the landsharks appear and latch onto his tail, but he tries his best to keep a hold of Haai in the process, compelling the landshark into attacking its brethren instead (notably Landshark 1 because wow, rude) before he’s trying to get slightly higher than the gargoyle and away from the landshark party, even if a trail of blood drips from his long scaled tail.

A deep rumbled and bitter It’s not comes from Sunjata in response to Ronin, unable to bite his tongue from it, maw parting to send a blast of lightning back toward the gargoyle. Hopeful that it hits and he doesn’t have to take too many more hits.

Kraken's can't particularly hiss in pain, so the sound that warbles from the gargantuan creature is a low and long wail as both Ronin and Sunjata's attacks spill over. That makes us ev— Remi starts to say, before his husband's draconic purrs of enjoyment ruffle through the bond. Ronin He calls, bewildered at the Huntsman's lack of sensitivity, but then, it wasn't as though the starry creature trying to BBQ a landshark was entirely his husband. He is not himself, like this. Remi offers apologetically toward Sunjata, before fixing his sights on the gargoyle.

Unencumbered by landsharks, Remi takes full advantage of his position and races back toward their original foe. Reaching into himself for Ronin's magic, the Lullaby shoots three bursts of starlight toward the creature.

Remi aims three of Ronin's starbolts at the gargoyle.

Ronin might be in the minority when it comes to whether or not this is the best day. Sunjata isn't having a good time and neither is the gargoyle just now.

The dragon's breath strikes Landshark 2, which has it careening around to retaliate, though it misses its mark. Sunjata 's lightning goes wide as the gargoyle nimbly darts out of the way, moving with eerie grace and speed through the air despite its stony body. Landshark 3, still compelled by Sunjata, aims an attack for the closest landshark, which happens to be the one with the Flood's blood still dripping from its jaws (landshark 1). Snapping its teeth around the other creature's fin, it tugs and tears off a good portion of skin which causes blood to rain down onto the sands below.

Remi 's starbolts squarely strike the gargoyle, sending it stuttering back into the air. Looking quite rough now with most of its hardened skin seered away by starbolts and lightning, now the gargoyle appears to be nothing more than a pulsing bit of muscle formed into the shape of a gruesome monster. With a roar the creature flies toward Sunjata, knowing better than to waste its time with Remi. Lashing its tail toward the Flood, the barb misses the dragon. In close proximity now though, perhaps still angry about being stabbed before, the gargoyle digs its talons onto the dragon's chest and upper neck. Clinging there like some strange marsupial, it claws and slices, trying to keep itself tucked close enough to avoid more dragon breath.

Meanwhile, landshark 1 has retaliated against landshark 3, leaving them snapping and circling each other in the sky.

we shall heal our wounds, collect our dead
What, Ronin snaps back at his husband, before it becomes apparent just exactly what is the problem with his vicious joy. If the guilt and shame wasn't enough to put a dampener on the dragon's hold on him, seeing the gargoyle rush at the Flood and cling onto him like some stony leech definitely does the job. Hold on, he says, banking up so he can fly himself directly over Sunjata.

Once he's close enough, he shifts back into himself (all but the dragon wings, which seem useful) and tries to drop onto the dragon's back. Already glowing, Ronin unleashes his second supernova at anything in the vicinity. Are you good, Remi? Because while his attention might be occupied by gargoyles and sharks and dragons right now, his husband is never far from his thoughts, now that they're mostly his own again.

Ronin positions himself above Sunjata and drops into a partial shift (he keeps the wings) to get onto Jata's back. He lets loose his second supernova, hoping to damage the gargoyle and any landsharks in range, and to heal himself, Sunjata and Remi if he's close enough.

I know, Sunjata begins but is promptly cut off by the gargoyle that’s angled himself toward him, perhaps guided by the trail of blood that pours from his tail. He doesn’t know, all he does know is that he’s got a gargoyle attaching itself to him, and he’s distracted away from his hold on the landsharks to snarl out his anger at the hitchhiker. His wings beat to try and keep them both airborne and he distantly hears Ronin approaching. Motherfucker. Comes the irritated hiss.

Another snarl leaves the Flood as he twists his head down, maw parting and aiming to take a bite out of the gargoyle that’s attached to him wherever he can reach, hoping to not be unlike a crocodile in the way he tries to thrash provided he’s latched on. Sorry Ronin!

Following the movement of the gargoyle, Remi watches with a ferocious interest as it latches onto the dragon's throat. The world goes blinding white with light that eases the pain in Remi's bones for which he sends a wordless pulse of thanks toward his husband.

Deciding that the Flood and Huntsman could probably deal with the gargoyle (especially given the close range of it), the Lullaby instead sets his sights on Landshark 2. Aiming three blasts at it, Remi snarls something fierce and guttural as the scents and smells of violence grow all the louder in his ears. Ronin's abilities he's quite sure are stronger than his own talons and teeth are, but gods if it isn't tempting to shift and try and take the landshark out with more organic means of attack. But with so much lost already, Remi sticks to what has worked thus far.
