From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

Maybe all you need is someone to trust
Where, exactly, was Paige going? He'd been lounging outside of the Halenani like any good father when he noticed the little girl slipping away. She was notorious for causing trouble and the urge to protect was strong with him lately. Maeve was with Edmund and Locke was trying not to be too overbearing, so following a little lost weasel shouldn't be too bad. And at first he didn't think much of it, expecting the little girl to get into general chaos.
And then she went through a portal.
It was, at least, to somewhere snowy. So he can't really fault her for. He actually pauses as the cold touches his paws. His eyes go wide but he doesn't say anything, not yet. He's never really been in snow. Sure, some Newleaf slush back in Stormbreak but nothing proper like this. Maybe, just maybe, Paige will want to play in the snow with him.
"Little ways from home, aren't you? I won't tell your Ma if you don't tell Maeve."
Paige is still getting used to being able to shift. She's still getting used to keeping track of her surroundings. Which means she is completely unaware of the jaguar hanging out outside of the Halenani. She doesn't even know how to feel for other people's emotions or how to control her own. Paige is too excited to even think about it as she slips among the many feet of those around her and making a beeline for the portal.
The girl jumps through, ending up in someplace snowy and surrounded by trees. A place she's never been before. Her whole body almost disappears into the snow, head popping up just in time to hear Locke's voice in her head, making her eyes go wide. Paige whips around, scrambling backwards, "I won't tell!" She chirps back, her voice sounding through his mind and her surprise slipping along the bond.

She's gone in an instant and he's already trying to figure out how to explain it to her mom but then a little head pops back over the snow and her excitement floods his system. Good. It's more fun to play in the snow with someone else. Although he's roughly 100 times her size, it's fine.
He sends the thrum of excitement back to her, testing out how well the bond is working. It's clear she's new to this and he's never been around a shifted child so it's interesting. He wonders, for a moment, if Edmund will ever Attune as well. Something like curiosity and love slips through but he's not sure the girl would even understand. Do you want to play hide and seek? I bet you'll be hard to find in the snow... He doesn't notice the pepperminty scent right away but it's fine. Right?

Paige
Much to her relief, Locke doesn't seem all that interested in ratting her out. Which is great given the fact that she really likes him and would hate not to like him anymore cause he got her in trouble with her mama. Paige feels his excitement feed back into her and it only serves to make her even more excited, creating a feedback loop as she practically vibrates, white fur blending into her surroundings. I've never played in snow before. Paige tells him, climbing her way out of the snow drift until she's lightly standing on top, only her paws sinking into the powder.
The young Attuned feels those emotions, but she doesn't know what to make of them and she's unsure of how to even ask. Instead, she lets it be, too interested in the prospect of playing. Especially hide and seek! That's one of her favorites. Okay! You count first and I'll hide! She chirps, tiny paws pitter pattering onto the snow as she wiggles in place, waiting for him to close his eyes and comply.
The rest of their time is spent digging in snow and playing silly little games that most adults would likely turn their noses up at. All in all, it's a good day and Paige is glad that she gets to share it with Locke.
