At the sound of his name, Ever's head shoots up, his blue eyes wide and looking very alert. It's with a mixture of concern and relief that he spies Paige. His stomach does this weird flutter of anxiety that has him swallowing hard, and he rubs one of his cheeks against his shoulder as if he might wipe away the heat he can feel there. "Yes, it's me." He agrees with a clumsy nod, rising to his feet.
"No, I did. The raven delivered it right away." Ever replies in a hurried stream. "I just...uhm.." Cheeks darkening, the boy swallows. "Well, no one has ever given me a present like that before, and I didn't know what to do, and so I asked around, and..uhm..." At a complete loss for words now, Ever frowns, considers, and then awkwardly turns to the bouquet left on the bench. Thrusting it toward Paige, he explains. "Uhm, these are for you. They aren't flowers because...well...that's Mateo's thing." (So?) "And mushrooms are really easy to take care of if you want them to grow, or you can eat them, and if you just throw them away because you don't want them, then they'll help the soil."
