From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

Permission is granted and Kiada nods a short nod to Sah before all hell breaks loose. She hurts her teeth, unable to follow the creature until after it’s already got its teeth sunk into Neron. So she reaches for Sah’s wrist, murmuring a quiet thanks before she sinks her teeth into his wrist, stealing away as much blood as she needs and uses the adrenaline pulsing through her to try and set aside the feelings it brings.
She pulls away and moves in a defensive stance, aiming to try and protect Sah against any retaliation the creature might have from what Neron does. And hopefully, it puts her in a decent position to launch her attack once it’s distracted. “Hang on Neron!” She calls out to him, reaching for the magic within to prepare herself to call upon it.
Kiada takes a bite from Sah and moves to block him from the creatures sight in case Neron’s attack changes its attention! She prepares to use the magic in the meantime and keeps her armor upgrade active!

As much as Sah would love to strike the beast with a good bold of lighting, Neron is too close for comfort. It's a bit of a surprise when Kiada moves to guard him, but given the blood still dripping down his shoulder, Sah tries not to let it bruise his ego. Instead he spares a quick glance behind them while the Ascended takes his blood.
Spotting the broken wall, he grins. Sah reaches with his telekinesis to grab the biggest chunk of the fallen wall that he can and chucks it full speed at the monster's head. Hopefully it'll stun the creature somewhat but not hit Neron. At least, that's the goal.
Sah lets Kiada block him and uses his telekinesis to throw a chunk of the broken wall at the monster's head. He still has his sword in hand, ready to block if needed, though the lighting isn't activated.

In a scale of Great to Terrible, things go about as badly wrong as they can.
Neron - probably because he's being chewed on, is unable to hit the monster with his ice, and shards of it fly wide and land in the snow or against buildings. Similarly, Sah doesn't manage to land a hit on the creature with his thrown rock, though we'll consider it a stroke of luck that he doesn't hit the Hailstorm either.
As for the monster? It shows you how it's done. Ice explodes out of it as it sits back from Neron, impaling the Ascended in all the softest and meatiest places, before it takes to the air once more, the darkness enveloping it. But as we all know, it won't be gone for long.

In place of pain, Neron's systems go into overdrive to inform him that he is in a lot of trouble. The capital T kind. But even as an Abandoned, pain didn't really bother him (quite the opposite in fact, ooh, kinky), and so he gets quickly to work. "It's going to dive again," he calls out without moving; a guess more than anything, but a very good one he thinks.
Reaching deep into his magic, he calls once more on the icy abilities he holds to create another shield, curling in on himself to make as small a target as possible while they wait for the creature to inevitably launch itself from the sky again. "We need to focus on the wings!"
Neron makes another ice shield and curls up defensively. He warns of another (possible) impending dive and suggests taking out the monster's wings.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” Kiada hisses as everything goes quite wrong, watching as the creature simultaneously impales Neron with his own magic and then rises to disappear again. At the very least she might be prepared now for it when it comes back down, and so it’s with her speed upgrade that she gets to Neron’s side, covering him the best she can.
She raises the crossbow to the sky, scanning through the dark, searching for anything and she shoots blindly into the darkness up above hoping that despite being unable to see it that she might still be able to hit it. If nothing else, hopefully it picks on her instead of Neron this time. “Next time it’s down I’ll light it up.” She mutters for everyone’s benefit, deeply hoping that she indeed can get an opening on the creature.
Kiada activates her speed upgrade to get over to Neron and kind of body block him and shoots blindly with her crossbow up into the sky where the creature disappeared into to hopefully bring it back down and turn its attention onto her. She keeps her armor upgrade active!

Sah curses under his breath and races over as well. "I'll try and get you an opening," he offer Kiada as a vague plan takes shape in his mind. "Once it starts to come down, I'll use my telekinesis to shove it into something. Hopefully that'll disorient it enough for you to land a hit." It very well might not work but they need to get some kind of damage in. This monster was proving extremely difficult and Neron was looking horrible.
Sah eyes the sky and readies his magic. The odd sensation of his telekinesis activating but not being used yet bubbles through him. Something else simmers as well, but he can't identify it. The second the creature makes itself known, Sah will activate his magic.
Sah rushes over and prepares his telekinesis and air magic (for the first time). The second the monster dives, he's going to use it to try and push it away and into wall. The hope is that it'll give Kiada an opening to strike. Using Halo's citizenship ability to make his air magic upgraded!

Living in Halo means at some point you've digested a small amount of mageglass. As long as you live in Halo, you can increase one of your magics to a higher level, once per PQ/PQ+/KQ/Drop. (In order to use this ability, you must specify the magic to be increased at the bottom of the post in which it will be used.)
The monster does dive, but this time it's not nearly as sleek and agile, and for whatever reason, it goes wide of the shield and all of those hiding within it. Unfortunately, that also means it isn't quite in the position to be hit with Sah's air magic, and whilst a gust of wind does send a drift of snow high up against one wall, it leaves the monster unscathed.
As for Kiada? Her attempt with the crossbow does not go to plan at all. Indeed, the bolt doesn't even fly out of it, and whilst it was a very slim chance to hit the creature at this distance anyway, instead the crossbow jams and is rendered completely useless for the rest of the fight.
Free to attack, the monster again goes for Neron, but this time at least the ice shield is there to take the blow. The ice splinters, adding yet another layer of sharp shards to the cobblestones, but the Hailstorm remains unscathed for now.

Y'know, it doesn't at all go to plan but Neron knows a bone when he's thrown one. And as it's ice that comes showering upon him instead of steel jaws, the Ascended rolls into action. He positions himself near Kiada and Sah, inhaling deeply despite not needing it. "Okay, hit it with all you've got," he growls, and this time it's the more insidious of his magics that he draws upon.
Water manipulation seems to be doing nothing more than covering the ground with ice, so he lances out with life drain to try to drag more energy out of the monster. And since this is his home turf, and it has been since he came to Caido, he's going all out.
Neron keeps his upgrade up and uses life drain on the monster. He also engages with his citizenship ability!

The monster dives again and as Kiada moves to shoot the crossbow, well, nothing happens. The crossbow is jammed and she hisses a variety of curses under her breath, strapping it to her side to probably throw at the monster later, because right now she’s brimming with energy and she’s certainly pissed the fuck off.
She reaches in deep again for the magic taken from Sah, filtering through the variety of them until she settles on the lightning magic. She pulls at it hard, bringing it to the surface, and aims to launch it right at the creature — hoping it might malfunction its wings or at least take it down a bit longer than this continuous back and forth.
Kiada uses the bite from Sah in this thread and aims a bolt of lightning at the creature! She keeps her armor upgrade active!

Sah grits his teeth, blood nearly boiling at this point. Frustration, fury, wounded pride, and concern for Halo competing for his attention. "Agreed." This thing needed to die, preferably painfully (If it can even feel pain). The Abandoned feels his magic reacting to his emotions, surging to the surface. Sah happily lets it do as it pleases, letting the magic run wild.
He sends his lightning out towards the monster, aiming for the bulk of it's body. It's the largest target available to him, and Sah intends to use it to his advantage. At this point, doing as much damage as possible is the goal. The monster has already done a number on them. They needed to return the favor.
Sah sends another lightning attack at the monster!

And so it comes to pass that no one at all is able to actually make use of their Citizenship Ability in this KQ. Even though the monster is at point blank range, seemingly, neither Neron nor Kiada are able to land their hits. How embarrassing.
Luckily, Sah is there to save the day. Lightning crackles and lances through the air, shrouding the creature and causing it to seize and jerk unnaturally as the current races throughout its body. Certainly some damage has been done, but it soon proves that it's not down for the count yet.
Kiada is the focus of its ire this time, and it sweeps in with a scathing rake of its claws. The Ascended will find a few cuts opening along her ribcage, but luckily they are shallow for now.

"Son of a bitch," Neron curses into the night, not bothering to lower his voice at all. He doesn't give a damn who hears it in fact, because fuck this fucking Longnight monster come to haunt them again. And given that he can't seem to do shit with anything subtle, once more the Hailstorm reaches for the magic that has been his namesake for so long.
It's with ice at his fingertips that he aims once more for the monster's wings, wanting to prevent it from escaping into the air. It wouldn't do them any favours - and worse, should it so happen that the monster has enough fo them, it could end up flying elsewhere to cause trouble.

“Bullshit!” Kiada curses actually quite loudly. At least one of the attacks hits, but she’d used up her one shot unless she wanted to bite from Sah again. Truthfully, she’s more than willing, if it weren’t for the fucking metal monster turning its attention onto her, adding yet another scrape of claws to her torso among the ones from worlds before.
She can feel the fluid bubble up and she staggers back, bracing for the pain that never comes (thank you Ascension), and she’s quick to reach for that throwing knife again to launch herself with her speed upgrade again, back at the creature hoping to sink it into the wing joint, hoping it might prevent the use of it.
Kiada uses her speed upgrade to launch herself back at the monster, aiming to sink her throwing knife into the wing joint. She keeps her armor upgrade activated!

Sah grins ferally as his magic makes a direct hit and the monster is left twitching for a moment. "Fucking finally." Not wanting to lose the slight tip in their favor, the Abandoned acts fast. He's about to strike once more but now Kiada is in the crossfire. Instead the Outlander turns to his sword. Calling forth his lightning, he laces the blade in crackling energy. It'll likely fade quickly so he throws the sword both physically and telekinetically at the monster. Given that Kiada is going for the wings, he goes for the flank. Just another measure to ensure he doesn't hit her.
Sah charges up his sword with lightning before throwing it physically and telekinetically at the monster's flank. He tries to throw it fast enough that the magic on the sword doesn't fade.
