The spirit of Flowerbirth had begun to break into Gideon's mood; he had undertaken many a grim task lately and had been feeling suitably dark, but the rising sun and appearance of Frey's wondrous nature was beginning to melt off some of the unpleasant memories. He'd arranged for the Temple to be cleaned and decorated, for choruses to be practiced by the children's choir. Fiat Lux would be blissful, but there was plenty of Flowerbirth before that.
He had had an idea to create a display in the plaza, by Frey's shrine. There were of course already plenty of offerings there, fruit and flowers and milk and all the usual - his would be no greater than anyone elses, but he wanted to use the placement as an opportunity to test his new staff. Before he used it to sap an Ascended of their energy (which he very much intended to do), he would see how it worked.
So he had planted seeds in a beautiful pot planter by the shrine - purposefully in the shadows - and for about half an hour each day, stood and bathed them in the light of his crystal staff. No one really seemed to question him much; Gideon supposed a priest stood with a staff by a shrine wasn't that unusual. Secretly he did yearn for someone to ask though, so he could tell them it was a gift from the Gods.
But, he reminded himself, that wasn't what this was about. It was about the careful and gentle nurturing of the flowers, bringing them to life with a little work each day in a beautiful metaphor for his determined and consistent faith in the Gods. Standing with his staff spreading its light he smiled at passers by, giving the odd one well-wishes for the Flowerbirth season.
