[PQ+] it's a dream when we work as a team

Amun, by ditching the lovebirds, is safe. Safe from what you ask? Dunnnn-na. Dunnnn-na. Dun-na, dun-na, dun-na! (With all this prancing around, you didn't really think you'd avoid detection by a landshark, did you?) From the ground comes a sleek gray nose between with you'll see a horrific array of jagged teeth. Perhaps it's just showing off its new dental work and isn't actually planning on making a snack out of the assembled tangleweeds and perhaps an ascended arm or two. What say you, Isla and Varus? You've managed to corral your tangleweeds fairly well, but now there's a landshark loitering nearby to reap the benefit of your hard work. As for you, Amun, you're 2/2 caltrops camouflaged. Do you go for more tangleweeds while you're counterparts are distracted, or do you try and help?

First set of tangleweeds deposited, Amun dusted off his hand. Glancing in the direction that Isla and Varus' footprints disappeared into, the potter chewed his lip for a moment before shrugging. Instead of following his fellow Ascended's trail, Amun went in the opposite direction. His hope was to find tangleweeds that had fled from his compatriots and try to herd them to the area of the caltrops.

His shirt now empty, if he spotted any clumps of the strange creatures, he'd head towards them. If necessary, he'd use his energy blast upgrade to try and corral them into his shirt or at least move them closer to the trap.

Amun goes in the opposite direction from Varus and Isla. Amun tries to find more tangleweed, and uses his shirt and his energy blast upgrade to try and capture and corral them.

It is all going rather well, until it isn't. Isla is busy with her corralling, and she almost doesn't notice the predator in their midst - almost. Turning in time to see the teeth above all, the Remedy's eyes widen and she reaches out for Varus's arm. "Son of a bitch," she hisses under her breath. "Do you think you can use your laser to lead it in another direction?"

Hopefully the vibration of it through the ground will tempt the landshark away. And to ensure it goes as well as possible, Isla activates her static boost, lending a little extra oomph to anything that Varus wants to achieve.

Isla suggests that Varus direct his laser away from them to try and lure the landshark in the wrong direction. She also uses her static boost upgrade to give him a bit of extra power in whatever he's doing.

“Here comes trouble.” Varus mutters with an annoyed sigh, nearly getting the tangleweeds into a space where they can actually start to use them before he notices that the landshark seems to try and be diving for their quarry. Frowning, he glances over to Isla with a nod, accepting the little boost as he redirects his fingers, hoping to avoid the tangleweeds as he tries to capture the landshark’s attention, murmuring a soft “thanks,” to Isla as he starts to move.

If it works, it might be more like a cat with a laser, as he tries to guide it to something off in the distance, far enough away for them to be able to get the tangleweeds and get the fuck out of dodge.

VARUS

Amun leaves the lovers to it, and honestly, that's probably the right idea. With his shirt and energy blast, it does look a bit like the potter is trying to herd a group of sassy dustbunnies, but it is working. Currently there are 5 tangleweeds clumped together, more or less all going in the same direction. If Amun continues, he might risk the group flaring outwards such that he loses all of them, but if he's successful, he'll get all 5. Or he can narrow his focus to just 2, which he's almost sure to be able to manage. Isla and Varus are being very clever poptarts indeed. Following the vibration of Varus' laser, the duo will be able to see the mound of earth that indications where the landshark is begin to move away from them. However, given Varus can only extend his laser 10ft, sooner or later the shark is going to figure out that its prey is no longer moving. Any more clever ideas, or are we ditching these tangleweeds?

"That's it," Amun crooned at his sassy dustbunnies little crowd of tangleweeds. Somehow he'd managed to corral five of them in the generally right direction. However, he wasn't sure how long he could keep up the shirt flapping and the energy blasting.

So he scanned the group. Picking out what looked like the two largest of the creatures, he focused his efforts on them. "What a lovely pair you two are," he observed even as he used his upgrade to blast them and his shirt to flap at them to try and herd them in the right direction. With one last glance at the other three, he turned his full attention to the two he'd chosen.

It works, until they realise that it's an exceedingly short range solution. Isla smiles a little and glances up to Varus, tilting her head. "Do you think you can keep leading the shark away? I'll try and corral these tangleweeds back to where we're setting things up." They're not actually trying to hurt anything after all. Just... zap it in the opposite direction.

Providing Varus agrees, Isla will turn her attention back to the tangleweeds, engaging her static boost upgrade again (on them, this time), trying to persuade them to keep going in the direction of the caltrops. "Good luck," she tells him, smiling over her shoulder at him.

Varus does agree, it’s the most logical step anyway. There are two of them, a hungry landshark, and tangleweeds that still need to be put toward the caltrops they’ve made. So the Ascended flashes her a fanged grin and a nod, stepping away to activate his lasers in a short line, trying to guide it in the opposite direction. “Be back soon!” He calls over his shoulder.

He aims for a space that may have some other wildlife, walking along as he activates it, sending little reminder streaks in the ground to get the landshark to chase, while simultaneously hoping that it works so that the landshark doesn’t think he’ll make a great meal. He’s mostly metal, anyway.

Varus continues to activate his lasers and walk away from the tangelweeds to try and guide the landshark somewhere else.

VARUS

Without any features to distinguish emotions by, it's hard to describe just how it is that Amun knows the tangleweeds are being sassy, yet he does. The three no longer under his direct supervision begin to dart to the sides, predictably tumbling away. Varus takes his landshark for a walk while Isla shocks her tangleweeds into submission. It's a good plan, so long as the landshark doesn't get wise to what's happening (but for now, it doesn't). With Varus taking care of the landsharks and Isla and Amun corraling, there is now a healthy supply of tangleweeds ready to be distributed around the Grounds. Since the Outskirts are mostly taken care of, shall we make our way towards the Woodlands do you think? Or do you want to stockpile them near the border of the Greatwood?

Amun narrowed his eyes at the departing tangleweeds. "I'll remember that!" he called out to them, even as he was focusing on the two he'd chosen to shepherd. They, at least, willingly let themselves be herded to the right spot.

Seeing Isla, he glanced past her. "What, lover boy couldn't keep up?" He winked at her, then examined their collective efforts. "This seems like a good amount for our purposes. You want to set them up properly along the border of the Greatwood?" He scratched under his chin. "I feel like that's the most likely direction for an attack, but I will definitely defer to your judgment." Inclining his head, he'd follow her lead.

Amun votes to set up the tangleweeds along the border of the Greatwood, but will defer to Isla's judgment and help her with whatever she decides.

That's more like it. By the time Isla sees Amun, she's happily corralling her couple of tangleweeds along as well. "Mm? Oh, no - he got distracted playing laser tag with a land shark," she explains with a smile. "Hopefully he'll be able to head back without bringing it with him." She hopes so, anyway.

Glancing at their gathered tangleweeds, Isla nods gently at Amun's reasoning. "No, I think you're right," she murmurs. "It would be a good idea to place these along the borders. I'm... well, I'd like to think that no one would press an attack from the Greatwood into the Hollowed Grounds, but you never know what the Fae are going to do."

Truthfully, Varus only wants to take the landshark far enough to distract it with something else, something large that might make it so Varus can slip out of the radar of it before he heads back toward where the tangleweeds are waiting for them. So it’s with that in mind that he walks his landshark with the lasers toward a deer trail in the Outskirts, hoping that perhaps they might stumble across a herd of deer, something that the landshark might choose to be a better snack than he is.

So he keeps walking, keeps distracting the landshark with his laser pointers, and truthfully hopes for a break so that he can get the fuck out of dodge of it.

VARUS

Sorry Varus, you rolled a 6 that landshark quite likes the vibration of your lasers and almost nothing that you're able to scare out of the trees is going to deter it from you. That leaves Isla and Amun (you really should have brought the Prince along, Isla), to scatter the tangleweeds and remaining caltrops by the Greatwood border while Varus takes his new landshark for a walk. Last round! This PQ+ will be complete as soon as you have all posted, so whoever posts lasts can slap a FIN on!

Both of Amun's eyebrows shot up as Isla mentioned Varus was stuck dealing with a landshark. Glancing in the direction she'd come from, the potter cocked his head to one side. "Does he need help?" He scratched his chin.

Shrugging, he made sure he had a firm grip on his shirt. Then he raised it and his palm. Electricity arched from his upgrade and he flapped his shirt at the tangleweeds. "Come on, you. Let's get you to your new home," he crooned to the creatures as he tried to herd them in the direction of the Greatwood. Assuming even moderate success on that front, he'd finally head over to see if he could help rescue the Remedy's boytoy from his predicament.
