From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

This is what’s called a Pyrrhic victory. It wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t what he wanted. He doesn’t regret it. Truth be told, it will probably happen again. It probably should have happened earlier. He wonders if its unfair that he hasn’t even felt it, whichever had been the killing blow.
Wessex is going to kill him.
Scales shed away to skin, and the ground rushes up, an inevitability that Nate keeps his eyes wide open for. With the last gasp of breath in his lungs, he laughs, giddy and hysterical and stolen away by the wind, and then by his own lack of oxygen.
Sunjata will understand.
He thinks it’s unfair that he won’t feel the impact, but he’s gone before he even finishes falling, the wet thud and crunch of his body a blank final page in a sad story no one will read.

Gods, he's tired. Tired enough that, for a moment, he doesn't truly believe what's happened, wings beating to keep him at the same height, watching Nate shift back and slap into the ground. But it's true, however he feels about it. It started as 4 vs 1, and now its just he and Wessex. Ronin might have laughed if it was even remotely funny. Instead, panting, he gazes down at Wessex for a beat.
"Take his body and go," he grates down at her. "I won't stop you. We both have a lot to do now, and you know it." Perhaps now it will be worth it to leave. Perhaps now they can draw a line and end this.
Meanwhile, within the Tower, astral!Ronin relays Nate's death and holds the evacuation efforts for a moment.
HERE IS MY SUMMARY I WON'T FORGET MY SUMMARY: Ronin tries to reason with Wessex again. He says if she takes Nate's body and leaves, he won't stop her.
His astral projection relays the news about Nate to everyone in the Tower.

That makes two of them that don’t fully believe what’s happened. Her head knows Nate’s immortal and will come back, but her heart… well, in the past 24 hours she’s seen three of her sibling's dead bodies and she’s not leaving until there’s some equity between them. If not Ronin, then the Order. Both, preferably.
Mentally marking the spot where Nate’s body lands, bird!Wessex changes targets and aims for the nearest Tower window. Ploughing into it at 60 ft in the air, she is heedless of the damage it might do to her (though perhaps her metal body will provide some protection), much like any madwoman driving a large SUV into a hapless building might be. If she can breach the wall, she will try to launch some feathers through the floor create as much damage inside as possible with all her razor-sharp bits and edges.

Wessex drives herself into the Tower via the nearest window and tries to do as much damage possible inside by shooting some feathers through the floor. She also tears around with her talons, beak, and razor sharp feathers.

Metal feathers shoot into the wood floor as claws and the beak of a mechanized bird carve through Sera's belongings. The floor begins to crack and buckle, causing Sera's heavier furniture pieces to slide dangerously towards the center as the walls groan.

Cool, he'll go fuck himself then.
Switching places again with his projection, Ronin turns towards the door and blasts three starbolts at it, hoping to destroy the barricade he put in place not too long ago. "Everyone out!" he calls, urgency filling his voice. "I can't fight this one, not alone. She's going to bring this Tower down one way or another - go."
Assuming he's able to get the doors clear, Ronin will bellow up to as many as he can (presumably they're already fleeing for their lives, even before Wessex's rampage) and start to corral them all outside.
Ronin switches places with his projection and blasts the door barricade with three starbolts to try and clear the way. He tries to evacuate as many people as he can.

Clawing and tearing at personal belongings isn’t nearly as satisfying as taking her anger out on another person; Wessex changes her mind at some point about this mode of destruction and shifts back into her human form. She eases back to the edge of the hole she’s just created and sets her Lasers on to the wooden and other potentially flammable (??) surroundings, hoping to set them on fire and let that do much of the job for her; let it work its way both down to the lower floors and up to the higher floors, including blocking anyone from the top of the Tower who might still be up there from making their way down.
As soon as that’s crackling away (aka if she has time), she’ll teleport herself down to the ground, to start hunting the Huntsman.

Wessex shifts back to human and gets back to the edge of the hole she's just made. She tries to set the apartment on fire and if there's time, teleport down to the ground.

Rocks blast outwards from the maindoor of the Tower. Civilians and patients pour out, but there are still many more inside.
The fifth floor, the apartment of some NPC member of the Order is opening up slowly beneath the buckling weight. As Wessex shifts and blasts it with her eyes, a bright blaze appears which quickly begins to spread.

Civilians and patients and Ronins pour out of the doors, the Huntsman calling for those within to continue trying to get out, but he can already start to smell the smoke on the air. And if Wessex is determined to kill innocent people, there are only so many that Ronin can save. Even so, he directs his projection towards the Tower while he moves elsewhere.
To Nate's body, to be precise. The demigod might not be in there any more (more's the better, probably), but there's something of his that Ronin would quite like. And if Wessex is having the Tower, then Nate's fair game.
With draconic claws, Ronin carves out the optical upgrade from the Lone Ranger, standing over his body once he's done to watch as more people pour out from the burning Tower and flee.
Astral!Ronin begins flying for the Tower. Real!Ronin runs to Nate's body and carves out his optical upgrade with dragon claws, standing over the body when he's done. Finders keepers and all that.

From up here, Wessex can see a lot - she can see sky!Ronin coming towards her and she can see someone - oh look, another Ronin, doing actual things to Nate’s body. So that must be the real one, because they’d at least managed to neutralize the Astral projection before it all went sideways.
Wessex teleports from the edge of the hole in the Tower down to the ground, aiming to end up right in front of Ronin. Face to face over Nate’s body, someone, someday, might find this terribly poetic (but probably not today). Once she materializes, the Wraith aims to blind the Huntsman with her lasers - and if not that, then at least leave him with some gnarly burn scars across his pretty little face.
And maybe, you know, drop the upgrade.

Fast as Ronin, right now Wessex is faster. Burning light sweeps across him, spreading into his eyes and filling them with red light leaving him disoriented (read: will roll with disadvantage for the next turn).

Ronin doesn't scream when Wessex suddenly appears in front of him. You didn't hear anything, and you can't prove it.
When she shoots him in the eyes with her lasers, though? Yeah, he screams then. The disorientation staggers him back and away from Nate's body, and there will be gnarly scars, but we'll have to get to those later.
For now the Huntsman is already warping and changing, crimson and golden feathers overtaking his body as he dons a phoenix's form instead. And with avian eyes streaming (it's still crying even if it's not from being sad, alright) and fire beating from his wings, he takes to the air.
In / on the way to the Tower, his astral form disappears.
Disoriented and full of owies, Ronin shifts into a phoenix and uses his healing tears on himself. He takes to the air. (Phoenixes are fiery and shit by nature but he's not actively attacking Wessex, so ig that's just narrative flair/passive fire?)

See? There it is. That satisfying scream. That’s what she was looking for when she came down to the ground. In her current state it’s pure music to her ears.
However, as soon as there’s an inkling of flames working their way across Ronin’s body, Wessex tries to retreat out of the Phoenix’s fire-range, or at least until he gets into the air. At that point, the Wraith is conscious of the fact that she does much better in a close-quarters situation, and summons up her Minokawa again. Up above her, it tries to attack the Phoenix from behind by shooting more feathers at it.

Ronin cries his special magical tears for no reason other than to heal himself (or so I've been paid to say) as he flaps into the air. In his talon, he'll feel that Nate's upgrade is growing hotter far faster than he'd otherwise expect it to...
A metal bird appears above the fire bird, shooting metallic feathers at him. It probably isn't luck so much as it's hard to target an opponent who is disoriented and flapping around (those were some rolls, even with advantage for W and disoriented disadvantage for R), but whatever is to blame, Ronin is able to dodge the feathers shooting at him.

It's weird how Ronin thought his finest moment had already happened in this fight. But then we've got this awkward, painful flapping mess happening, and y'know, maybe he makes it look fashionable (he doesn't). Even so, internally he's still kind of screaming (but externally it sounds like cool bird noises, probably), and although he wants to rise up into the air, to give himself more time to heal, the summoned Minokawa very quickly changes his mind.
So it's with an awkward, feathered version of stop, drop and roll that he lands again, tumbling into a partial phoenix shift (mainly just a ruffle of fiery feathers) and transferring his eyeball prize from his talons to his hand as he does so. Half crouched on the ground and with two harlequin stripe burns to show for Wessex's handiwork, he fires starbolts at the minokawa to try and get rid of it.
Ronin lands and tumbles into a feathered partial phoenix shift, transferring the optical upgrade from his talons to his hand. He fires starbolts at Wessex's summoned minokawa, trying to take it out.

Phoenix Armour | Encased within an invisible pendant, when Ronin shifts or partially shifts into a phoenix, the pendant will activate. Dark fire-proof leather will replace his clothing, inlaid with golden strands of starlight that perfectly fits his body and is extremely easy to move in. In the dark it will appear nearly black, while in the light it will have a golden sheen to it. Constellations of the Warrior shine on the front and back.
