It's weird how wounds heal, isn't it? How flesh knits itself back together after a while, leaving little more than a small scar to show that it was ever cleaved apart. That's what happens to the MYSTERIOUS FLESHPIT OF MYSTERY, too - and at the first sign of the meaty hole starting to close, the two ominous guardians of the place make their departure. There's probably something more interesting going on elsewhere, etcetera.
For those who decided to bite the fleshpit Nate, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that it tastes spicy. Or your sensors will inform you of this fact, even if you taste nothing. And for those who decide to take a sample? Congratulations, you now have a lump of flesh.
