Ronin opts not to be entirely shifted, because it's much more fun that way. And he is, indeed, being towed along by a kraken tentacle, his clothing billowing around him in the dark water, his eyes the dark, fathomless black of a leviathan. With a manta crystal pressed and bound against his throat, too, he's able to see and breathe as easy as any sea creature, though he does feel hilariously small as they sink down to the bottom of the Maw.

Knowing our luck, in the belly of some beast. Isn't that how it usually goes? His amusement belies the mantle of sobriety that sets his shoulders and his jaw.
