From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!

While the triumph could’ve been short lived, at least it was something. Good work he acknowledged with a low rumble to Remi, as his eyes scanned briefly over the illuminated tentacles - the sheer size and scale of something even beyond the Lullaby.
For half a moment, the Sword’s gaze widened, jaw slackening at the gargantuan size - before clenching it all over again. Steel and resolve. Determination and power. Snagging st what they could.
So now to take the opportunity, with bundled and bound limbs. Another flare of his Life Drain surged, striving to avoid Remi again, while aiming to hit and pummel the gigantic beast.

Whooooooo lives in a crater at the bottom of the sea DAD EE KRAK EN.
Ronin 's starbolts hit the correct kraken, lighting up the inky waters so that all might witness the writhing tangle of tentacles. Coiling tighter, despite how the much larger kraken squirms, Remi is able to keep his hold of it, enabling Deimos to hit it with ease (he too only hits the Daddy Kraken).

All things considered, it's going pretty well, which means that it's likely to all go to shit soon. Until then, though, Ronin does his best to make the most of their good luck, taking his husband's silence as testament for how serious the situation was. I'd suggest we spread out a bit, but the size of this thing... he murmurs to Deimos.
Still, with the manta crystal at his throat and Remi busy grappling the daddy, Ronin allows himself to sink down a bit in the water before he fires off more starbolts, hoping that they can continue their strategy of do the hitting without anyone potentially getting hurt.

Remi has no thoughts on Ronin's strategy; his focus is solely on keeping the writhing tentacles of his fellow kraken contained. Beneath his thousands of suckers, he can feel the kraken writhing and bulging with power. Quite how he's been able to keep it restrained even he doesn't really know (its because of Ronin's advantage, that's all it is), but you can bet in the aftermath of this Remi is going to find himself doing a lot more strength training. He'd taken it for granted that he simply was the biggest and strongest thing on land and in the sea, and to find out that he wasn't? Well, it was an unhappy realization.
Remi continues to try and hold on!

If Ronin aimed to sink further into the depths, then the Sword opted to swim a little higher, kicking his feet quietly, stealthily, opting not to gain any attention from the kraken. It may not have mattered, given the creature’s current state, but the General had never been one to take too many risks and chances. Unless today counted (it totally didn’t).
With those minuscule movements, and the massive creature still being successfully grappled, Deimos aimed to use his life drain incantations again, intending to continuously drain the animal of its strength. With any luck, he’d still manage to miss Remi.

key quest
Ronin 's startbolts find their intended target once again, but this time as the Daddy Kraken struggles in Remi's grip, the alchemist isn't able to hold on. Despite the fact that the Kraken is shockingly huge, without Remi holding onto it and with the murkiness of thew after, accuracy is no longer a given, and Deimos ' attack misses.
Wasting little time, the Daddy Kraken lashes out with two tentacles tipped with what will feel to Remi like daggers on the end of its arms. Slicing into his blubbery skin, the larger kraken slashes open two deep lines of red into Remi.

Ronin almost says he called it, but it's really not the time for banter any more. Not as the daddy kraken breaks free of his husband's grip and is punctured by two tentacles that make Remi look small by comparison. Oh fuck-- comes Ronin's eloquent reaction, the Huntsman not bothering to move himself further in the water because, to be frank, it's really not going to make much of a difference.
Already the glow that rises within him makes his dazzle seem little more than a whisper of light, Ronin just has a chance to call out a Cover your eyes, Deimos, before his supernova detonates. He might not be able to cause as much damage as this ungodly creature, but hopefully he can help them to last a little longer down here.
Ronin changes tactics and detonates a supernova to heal Remi and attack the kraken.
Magic: Supernova | A blast of celestial light emanates from Ronin in a 60ft radius. Any allies hit by the light are healed, whilst any enemies take damage (Mastered healing/damage). May be used three times per thread, with a two post cooldown.

then it went dark
Deimos and Ronin will be treated to a series of inhuman and inarticulate bellows of pain as the Daddy Kraken wounds with laughable ease. There's pain, the likes of which Remi has dealt with many times, and then there's this. Perhaps it's because he's boneless that it feels as though the pain has nowhere to settle such that it ricochets around his body, or perhaps that's just how all-consuming it is.
Either way, it's a gross injustice that Remi doesn't have lips or vocal chords with which to scream. That, too, makes the pain seem even larger.
I can... It's hard to both reach for the other kraken and think at the same time. ..only one more.. He has one more attack like that in him.
Reaching out, Remi tries to again restrain his counterpart, knowing that if he fails, things might take a very bad turn for all of them.
Remi tries really hard to grapple Daddy Kraken again

The shared pain was nearly an insurmountable feeling - and he had to swallow it all down, down, down into the dregs of his chest. He could list off a thousand apologies for Remi’s siege, and it wouldn’t matter. Ronin seemed to have the notions covered though, and the Sword could only nod swiftly, quickly, as his hands came to cover his eyes, shielding from the radiant blast through the sea.
Perhaps it was a good thing then, that he didn’t need to use anything other than compelled incantations to usher his magic forth again. The life drain shot forth, barreling towards the kraken.

Ronin detonates, striking both Remi and the Kraken Daddy in different capacities. Whether it was the healing to the Lullaby or the attack on the kraken that does it, Remi is able to reassert his grip around the larger kraken. Deimos continues to ebb away the kraken's lifeforce, still with complete accuracy (I can assure you, Remi says thank you for this).

Getting his metaphorical breath back (thanks, manta crystal) as the light fades and Remi keeps his grip on the kraken daddy, Ronin goes on the offensive once again. If you want to switch, let me know, he calls out to his husband - he might not have tentacles, but the leviathan that lurks in his bones considers this more of a challenge than anything else.
For now, though, Ronin throws three more starbolts out at the colossal creature (the one that isn't the Lullaby), aiming to hack away further at its life force.
Ronin goes back to Plan A and throws more starbolts at the kraken daddy.

Trying to dilute his thoughts such that he could try and control each and every sucker poised against the largest Kraken, it's all that Remi can do to hold on. Although only a few moments had passed, already the alchemist's tentacles were burning with exertion, and his mind felt like it was on fire from both effort and pain. Desperately he tried, as those well aversed with pain will do, to divorce himself from the feeling such that it existed outside of himself where it could flare and scream all it liked, but not hinder his ability to keep the other kraken contained.
If you have the relic... He thinks infragmented bursts. ...give it to us and we will let you go..

Things were, for the moment, under control. He watched as the kraken was brought back to heel, as strength whittled away from its form, as some resolve steeled over them again. To take advantage of this for however long it lasted, for however long they could persist. More and more until they could unfurl and uncoil - though the sentiments extended forth were clear. Would the kraken just give it up?
He doubted it, but perhaps some monsters were sensible. Or maybe they were the insane ones.
Once more, from his higher vantage point, the General unleashed his torrent of life leeching power, eager to decimate, to ensure this ended soon.

All three will hear and feel the violent frustration bubbling out from the massive creature, though whether or not it has decided to accept Remi's agreement is currently unknown. For now, it simply continues to struggle and writhe, content in the knowledge that should it break free again, it will have the upper hand(s).
