so, collect your scars and wear 'em well

It doesn’t take much time, but enough that they can gather at the Spire and explain the plan, before they’re able to head out. None of them, save for Darkeye likely, are welcome in Stormbreak in the first place, but that doesn’t mean they can’t skirt around the outside. They leave Wessex out in the water, far enough to keep any harm from happening, as he flies toward the Falling with Darkeye along his back, a pack and the infernbow handed to the dwarf for safe keeping while they fly above the water.

He doesn’t want to be overtly obvious, the black dragon far easier to have a target placed on his back than the smaller sleeker version of his Pegasus shift. He lands, long enough to remain in this form until Darkeye’s off his back. And when he shifts back, he shifts into himself. “Supposedly it’s something like fabric sticking out of the rocks?” He murmurs quietly to Darkeye. “And if it’s alive when we find it we’re going to have to lure it off back toward Wessex. I’ll probably pick the dragon shift then so you can hop on. Use the Infernbow too if you want to.” He offers it all up quickly, trying to scan the rockery for anything of note, keeping himself partially shifted to help fine tune his vision and keep his arms covered with a layer of his dragon shift scales.

Sunjata and Darkeye fly in off coast to the Falling to search for the fabric stuck into the rockery. Their goal is to try and lure it out of Stormbreak so Wessex can join in out of Stormbreak range

Darkeye
Nine strikes
Darkeye on the back of a dragon in the past would have broken the jaw of anyone who said such a thing without hesitation. But it was time to push his limits and this was more important than anything else. It helped a little that it looked like a Pegasus but that didn't change the situation. He also had his spear with him, as well as torches, some rope, and his axes - it remained to be seen whether he would need them at all. He hoped that no one would mind that they were doing this but it was clear that Wessex should not be seen.

He looked around, trying to be as observant as possible. Stuff in a stone gate should catch on quickly, especially to an old dwarf like him. He nodded curtly and tried not to look at Sunjata. He didn't like the scales. Mahariel was not there, he left her at home in the forge and hoped she was not angry with him. But his mind wandered and he forced himself to focus on his surroundings. "It could be anywhere around here, is there a more specific direction?" He said as quietly as Sunja as he began to look around.

so, collect your scars and wear 'em well

Without having much else to go off of, Sunjata works his way alongside the rockery, searching for anything that could be close to what the book had said. He works his jaw, partially shifting his eyes now in the hopes he might be able to fine tune them into being able to spy things that aren’t otherwise noticeable. “Just in the cliff face.” Sunjata offers Darkeye with a small apologetic grimace.

The Falling was huge and it feels like they might spend all day here trying to get even a hint of where it is. “If you see anything like fabric sticking out, that might be it. Just let me know and I'll let you know if I find anything.” So saying, he continues his search, moving along the one particular cliffside he’s on before moving further down.

Sunjata continues searching for any sign of a cloth sticking out of the cliffs, his eyes partially shifted to try and help him see further.

and on to the glory at my right hand
"So I figured before I go live with my ingenious Keep Our Cliffs Clean initiative that Tobi definitely didn't come up with first, it'd make sense to take a look around and find out how big the problem is," Ronin is explaining to Remi, his voice a little muffled around the straw from the milkshake he's drinking. "Oh, and then there's the whole spongey ground thing after that. I don't know if it's indicative of a relic, but we've looked most everywhere else."

They're standing in the Skyport just beyond where the latest ship from Torchline has just cruised into port. Slurping his milkshake and casually reaching out to slip his hand in Remi's back pocket, the Huntsman seems in very high spirits indeed. "Mel has been helping me look," he explains, "and we both need to get out more, so I thought I'd invite her along too. She should be on this ship."

Darkeye
Nine strikes
Darkeye thinks that this would take too long. He takes his axes and throws the 5 feet away and teleports back and forth and it looks strange because as soon as he would fall he throws the next one. Until he has come up a few meters. Then he does the same thing in the other direction and lands on Sunjata's back again. "I have to concentrate too much on teleporting." He concentrates his gaze on the surroundings, because of the cliff, the fabric could be pressed very hard against the wall, maybe even sticking to it because of the moisture. All the dirt could have already stuck to it and adapted to the environment. As he lets his gaze wander. He sees something that could be fabric. "Sunjata go down almost to the surface of the water. I think I saw something that doesn't look like felts." He points to the spot and now it's clear why they were having such a hard time.

Type: Grey | Style: Offensive | Level: Basic
Throwing Axes | A pair of throwing axes that only ever deal basic damage. However, they allow the wielder to teleport up to 5ft in distance.

Darkeye saw something could this be it?

Whatever Darkeye sees in the water is not the cloth, which, thanks to his enhanced vision, Sunjata does see. Flapping like an errant bit of spinach lodged between giant teeth, it waves a cheerful hello.

Melita
I never had a chance to be soft
I was always bloody knuckles
Melita was indeed on this particular skyship, fresh-faced, excited, and ebullient. Maybe it was because she’d been asked to help. Maybe it got her out of any potential doldrums. Maybe she was merely felt the notions of potential danger (and for that reason, left the companions at home), even if it was just “litter picking”.

Stepping off and thanking the workers politely, the youth looked about until she saw the familiar figures of Ronin and Remi, granting them a vibrant, boisterous wave, before bounding forth, parting out of the maneuvering crowd. “Hello!” She prospered and chirped to each, granting a wide grin, the fervent and restless energy of youth clambering about her motions as she hitched her bag further up her shoulder. “What’s the plan?”

sleep don't visit, so i choke on sun // and the days blur into one
It is a bit difficult, pressed against the side of the cliff face trying his best to move from section to section, eyes peeled for any sign of anything relating to the tip given. Distraction comes in how effectively Darkeye seems to traverse it, before Sunjata’s pushing back from the edge, shifting fully into that black dragon now as Darkeye hops onto his back.

He peers down into the water when prompted by the dwarf, only to find nothing there. Instead, though, something does capture his attention and the dragon moves to take Darkeye with him, to press up against the side trying to clamor to hold onto it, head nearing the waving fabric as if to inspect it further, before one clawed hand starts pressing at the surrounding rock to see if it’s hard as stone or if they might be able to excavate it.

Sunjata takes Darkeye and himself down to the cloth in his dragon form and he tries to press around the cloth wedged in to see if it’s easy to pull out or if it’s attached deeper.

the lullaby
And you should know,
I left but never lost my place
"Do you know, I bet you could set Everest and Mateo to lead this cleanup initiative." Remi murmurs, stifling a yawn behind his hand even though he'd already been up for hours. "I doubt Mateo would, but Everest would certainly take it seriously and would likely do a better job than anyone else." Like a dog with a bone, that boy was with tasks.

As for the rest of what Tobi had mentioned? "What does it even mean for the ground to be spongey ?" He wonders with a frown, though before he can theorize about what sort of phenomenon the doctor might have been describing, Melita came beaming through the crowd. Having always thought of her a bit as something like Ronin's younger sister, more perhaps a youthful niece given how the Huntsman spoke about her, it was actually a bit strange perhaps that the Honeybee and Lullaby hadn't interacted more. Strange that was, until you remembered the man that Remi had become over the years, and then it made perfect sense that he wouldn't have bothered to meet one of his husband's closest friends.

"Hello." He replies with a small half wave.

and on to the glory at my right hand
"Of that I have no doubt, but we are on the edge of some very steep cliffs," Ronin points out around his milkshake. "And I feel as though Tobi will not thank me for delegating to her teenage son." Not to mention potentially putting him in danger, even if his husband is absolutely correct about Everest.

He's also wondering what spongey actually means (and noisily slurping the dregs of his shake through the straw) when Melita appears, and Ronin offers a cheerful smile and a good morning! trill that's at least twice as enthusiastic as Remi's efforts. Not that Ronin doesn't consider those efforts adequate - these days, socialising at all is worthy of a celebration when it came to the Lullaby.

"Well, apparently there are bits of sail or something snagged in these here cliffs. So we'll have a swoop around and clean 'em up if we see anything, I guess!" Whistling up at the sky to call down his nimbus, he pats it to indicate that Mel should hop aboard.

"Would you mind being on the wing?" he asks Remi. "You know I love to ogle your feathers."

In the rocky crags of the Falling, something bright can be seen.

A bit of cloth? It's hard to see from here, but you're quite sure that there is indeed something stuck between the rocks. Almost like a bit of spinach between massive teeth.

The Honeybee wasn’t deterred in the slightest by Remi’s less than enthusiastic response – between the three of them they should’ve had a fabulous time cleaning up litter. She gave another beaming smile towards the Lullaby, tilting her head, truly intrigued and interested. “How are you?”

And from there on, it was plans and movement – bits of sail, potentially something caught amidst the cliffs. A little dismayed they hadn’t seen it before (maybe they just hadn’t been in the right spot), but otherwise chipper, the youth settled along the indicated nimbus, content. “Sounds good!” With a nod, she segmented her eyes towards those ramparts and slabs of rock, peering, narrowing her gaze, hands shielding her sight from the sun.

There might’ve been something bright – and since she was a bit like a magpie, the youth’s hand darted outwards, finger pointing in its direction. “What about that?”

Narrowing his eyes at his husband and offering a silent and amused running commentary about how likely it was that Ronin just wanted to sit next to a pretty girl for once, the alchemist shrugs and shakes out his wings Lucifer style. Less than chipper though he might be, at least this way he'd still have a mouth with which to speak.

"Seems as good a place as any." Remi agrees, narrowing his eyes along the cliff face that he might spy the slip of fabric Melita had already seen. "I wonder how something like that gets caught up in the rocks" It takes his mind almost no time at all to imagine someone tumbling from the cliffs, whether intentionally or not, leaving only a slip of cloth as their final mark upon the world.

"Shall we?" Taking a few steps away from the nimbus in order to give himself a few strides to take off, Remi flies a slow but steady arc upward.
