Though her first meeting with Frey had been far from a public spectacle, Evie finds herself on the Sea of Glass with her items when it comes time to return to Frey. Possessive and selfish with this rare, precious thing she has finally obtained.

Landshark tooth, Penolaeth shell, and volcanic rocks in hand, she sets the items down first before placing her actual offering on the altar; Torchline had been scarce in terms of fruit, so instead she had bartered for a dried and preserved wreath of barley and pampas grass, a throne befitting a herald of nature. “Frey? I have done as you asked, if you have a moment to speak with me.” The wind is far colder out here than the Citadel’s dome, but it is a peaceful solitude in comparison.

Evie has completed her quest for her shield!

1. Complete a thread investigating the toughness and endurance of the shark tooth. How you choose to do this is up to you! (E.g. Hit it with a hammer, try to carve it with a knife, etc. etc.)

2. Collect the 'shell' from a Penolaeth! (It can be whatever size you like).

3. Complete a training thread focused on defence.

4. Collect volcanic rock from either the Apopo or the Climb.

"But of course, little gingersnap," Frey purrs as they appear, as unruffled and as comfortable out here on the ice as anywhere else they have chosen to appear. Raising their eyebrows at the selection of goods brought (not to mention the offering), they raise their hands, causing the items to drag themselves closer, as if sentient.

Touching a hand to each one, Evie will be able to watch as, before her eyes, they warp and change and meticulously reassemble, until it isn't an assortment of ingredients before them, but a sleek and well-crafted shield.

"And there we have it," Frey murmurs, gesturing for her to take the item.

Longtooth Shield | A fang-shaped shield crafted from the tooth of a gigantic landshark and mysterious shards of bone. It is adorned with ebony flecks of volcanic rock. This item blocks physical damage at Evie's Basic level and requires a 2 post cool-down between uses.

She flushes primrose shades at the endearment, as easily charmed and sweet-talked as any child starved of such approval. It’s not so dissimilar when one is Abandoned.

The process is awe-inspiringly fast. Though her eyes witness it moment by moment, the logic of it escapes her. Magic it may be, but it is wielded on a far greater playing field than Evie could ever hope to attain. At the gesture she reaches for the - no, her - shield. It is as lightweight as the tooth had originally been, and a beautiful macabre mix of glittering black stone and weathered ivory bone. “It’s perfect, Frey. Thank you. Thank you so much.” And though the shield is beautiful, Evie can’t keep her eyes from coming back again and again to Frey, drinking in every single moment she gets to remain in the deity’s presence. It is hard to leave, but she has a land to rule - and another quest for Frey to finish, this one on behalf of her people.
