He’s built a lot of buildings before. Yet somehow, this one feels different. Now, whether it’s because it’s a brothel or because it doesn’t have the driving force of need behind it (like the buildings to sustain the safe haven), he can’t tell. But what he does know, is that it’s the sole thing he’s decided to dedicate a purpose to at the moment, and maybe it’ll just be a fad that lasts however long until he feels better, or maybe he’ll live the rest of his life within it as some other legacy of his.

We’re getting a little bit too deep of a look at it, so moving on; it’s cold in King’s End, and he knows that the second they start working it’ll be less chilly and he’d be less prone to frost bite, but for the moment as it stands, he’s bundled up – casting a glance toward Isla as he waits for everyone to show up. There’s a group of people from the safe haven that have offered to help, and he and Isla had taken care of carving out the base for the building, which certainly helps in the moment with how he can only imagine how frozen solid the ground is.

Alongside that, carts upon carts of material and tools – saws and wood, brick and mortar, all of it to start building up this space that he hopes might be the one thing that can distract him away from everything else.

Hiiiii all! This is a PQ to build a brothel in King’s End just on the outskirts of Wrenzoak's Refuge. Sunjata will have posted notices around on the notice boards of varying regions for how your character can learn about it. Please just have your characters arrive and we’ll go from there!

"It makes you glad that we made the foundations last season, doesn't it?" Isla murmurs to Sunjata, her voice muffled behind her scarf. Needing little of the warm clothing she wears, it's still nice to play the part of Deepfrost, and having different outfits to wear day to day is still somewhat of a novelty - so sue her.

And so she stands beside Sunjata with her hands buried in the pockets of her coat, her fair hair braided over one shoulder. She'll be more use in the supportive work than any of the brute strength involved, but she's still looking forward to getting all of this started. It's a distraction for her, too, though if one had told her a year ago she'd be building a brothel... well. Better leave that thought unfinished.

For the most part, Morgen is rarely part of these little gatherings because...well, ain't many of 'em around King's End. But ever since Sunjata set up the refuge more'n more folks been around, and though the wrangler is used to being on his own, it ain't so bad to see new faces every now'n then.

Arriving on Sweet with a few unicorns in tow, the cowboy dismounts and gives his mare a well-deserved pat. Mumbling something telepathically to her, the mare snorts and pins her ears, before turning and nudging the three unicorns off to one side. Removing his cowboy hat to ruffle his fingers through his hair, Morgen replaces it before turning the collar of his coat up to protect against the chill.

"Ma'am." He says first to Isla, pulling at the brim of his hat before extending a hand toward Sunjata. 'We ain't met yet. I'm Morgen. I brought some supplies, and those three—" Here he pauses and nods his head over his shoulder. '—are good for movin' stuff around." Of course with Sunjata being a demigod he probably didn't need much help with menial labour, but Morgen had always been taught to offer what you could.

Morgen brings along some unicorns to help move things around, and some tools.

So glad.” Sunjata rumbles toward Isla with a soft smile, shuffling as they wait for more people to arrive. And then, a stranger arrives riding a unicorn – a stranger that seems to know Isla which helps alleviate any internal worry that this might be difficult. The man seems like a decent one as well, as far as he can tell, and the bonus of having not just one but multiple unicorns on hand was simply a great opportunity.

So he takes Morgen’s hand and flashes him a small smile that tugs on the scar on his face, dipping his chin slightly in his own greeting. “Sunjata. Thanks for coming.” He offers easily, before stepping back and addressing everyone, including the small group of helpers around.

We’ve already carved through the foundation for it.” He pauses, nodding toward Isla, before returning his attention to everyone else. “Right now it’s setting up the supports and framing that needs to be done before we can start to add anything else.” It was literally to be built from the ground up, and with the help of the unicorns to haul the wood to each corner of it, it would hopefully make for an easy time to get the bottom supports in and stairs to get to laying down the floor supports for the second floor.

So he steps back and gestures to the material and tools. “Pick a corner and lets get started, shall we?” He waits to see where everyone else goes before picking his own corner.

Round one:
Pick a corner and start laying down framing! There’s a group of NPCs there to help make the job a little quicker too!

There are many creatures contained within King’s End, and while some are wonderful and effervescent, there are others many will want to steer clear of.

Like that shapeless, smoky, vapor-looking thing in the distance. Unless, you know, you want to go approach it.

It moves with no real purpose, floating along above a couple treetops, before carrying on, as if nothing happened at all. Phew!

You’ve encountered a Enenra. This counts as a rare creature encounter for the purposes of levelling, but does not count as a Random Event for levelling or MP. There will be no further admin/re intervention. If you choose to follow this creature, you do so at your own risk, however, just having it in this thread is enough to satisfy your levelling requirements. (You may not kill your rare creature without admin permission. )

Enenra (rare/mythical) - Cousins of the Banshee, Enenra are creatures of smoke and vapor who possess a shapeless form, when the attack they generate a physical body of any appearance they like.

"Morgen," Isla murmurs, her eyes creasing with her smile at the sight of the unicorn wrangler and his entourage. "It's good to see you again. I hope Deepfrost isn't hitting you too hard." Giving a gentle nod towards him, she falls silent to listen to Sunjata; perhaps there will be time later for casual chatting. For now, there's a building to erect (har har har).

"No problem," Isla says, trudging through the snow towards one of the corners, greeting the workers there and beginning to set out to work. It's with keen eyesight and fingers tipped with claws that she gets to work, only glancing up at the strange and eerie sight of something nearby. "Have you ever seen anything like that before?" she calls to Sunjata and Morgen, her brows furrowing.

Isla picks a corner and gets to work! She is sus of the Enenra.

"Nice t'finally meet you. Heard a lot about what you been doin' around here." Morgen says with an appreciative nod before glancing to Isla and grinning. "No harder than anything else." He replies with a casual shrug as he takes a step back as well, hat in hand, to listen to whatever orders Sunjata might have for them. Pick a corner sounded easy enough.

Though it's Sweets who does the majority of the work in getting the other unicorns into formation, Morgen is close at her shoulder, rigging up harnesses that the unicorns might distribute the wood more efficiently. Glancing over his shoulder, the wrangler looks first to Isla before squinting in the distance. His frown touches only one side of his mouth as he huffs out a sigh and gives his head a shake. "Called an Enenra. Mostly harmless unless you piss 'em off." He answers. "Kinda like if you take a banshee but remove most of the piss n' vinegar." Morgen adds with a shrug, before turning back to his posse.

The unicorns begin dragging supplies where they seem to be needed, assisting first the gaggle of NPCs, before turning to see what they could bring for Isla and Sunjata. For his part Morgen keeps his head own, fitting boards together like some patchwork puzzle until he has everything in his corner just so.

At least it’s a ‘I’ve heard a lot about what you’re doing around here’ versus the usual ‘heard a lot about you’ that typically strains a lot of the interactions Sunjata has these days. But they all get to work easily, finding corners to start to build up and out from, the unicorns helping bring more wood to each of them as they start to spread from the corners to meet in the middle of the walls for the framing.

Sunjata’s gaze flickers to the whisp of smoke in the distance, brows furrowing as Morgen answers and enlightens them both. He has no idea, but he’d much prefer to ignore it. “Good to know.” He calls out to Morgen, while he takes the next lump of wood to start laying it out. He departs and leaves the corner in the hands of his NPC helpers, if only to start pointing out where windows and doors would go to make sure they didn’t cover those up too poorly and could reinforce the areas.

And once that’s done, they all have a nice little wooden frame they can build off of. “Alright, next we need to work on some stairs and finishing up the framing inside, as well as adding the actual wall portion.” He runs a hand through his hair, focusing on the material they’d brought to achieve such a thing, letting everyone else decide what to do first before he helps.

"We'll keep to th'outside." Morgen answers once new tasks are layed out.

Standing outside of the structure, the wrangler puts his hands on his lower back and leans against them to release the tension that was threatening to build up there. "Right, well. H'bout you three stand where there ought to be windows so that no one accidentally frames 'em up." Morgen suggests, though based on Sweets' body language, it's the mare who is actually conveying and giving the orders.

With three unicorns grazing near the frame to indicate where the windows should go, Morgen does his best to guide his gaggle of NPCs into getting some of the walls up. There's a lot of unladylike language going on, and were it not for the fact that Isla had already said she didn't mind much, Morgen would have been apologizing a lot more than he was.

"Oh," Isla says softly, about the Enenra as Morgen called it. "Well I'll be sure to stay well out of its way." If it chooses to bother them instead there might be something of an issue, certainly, but hopefully it doesn't come to that. In the meantime, it looks as though their work has been on point so far, and she smiles to Sunjata as he relays his next orders.

"We'll look at the framing on the inside," she announces. "It might be better to do those two things in tandem, in case of any issues." And so, heading off with her own gaggle of NPCs, Isla ensures that tools and supplies are to hand and keeps an eye on the written plans she'd made, along with the sketches she's drawn up.

Everything starts to look like it’s coming together – minus a few snags for everyone involved. With Morgen on the outside, it begins to go well enough that perhaps some things grow a bit laxed, some of the NPCs accidentally slamming their fingers with their hammers. But alongside the chorus of curses, the beams get up and the wall’s framing are up and ready to be laid out easily.

In Isla’s case, the inside framing starts off rocky, one of the NPCs starting to build on a section that doesn’t match up with Isla’s diagram. Luckily, she’s quick to notice and fix, and before too long everything’s in working order similarly to the outside where Morgen is with his NPC group.

Sunjata ends up with the stairs, which seems like it might be a relatively easy task – mostly trying to measure out where they’d go, how many pieces of wood they’d need for it, and sawing them accordingly – but his snag comes in the way some of the piles got mixed up, thinking perhaps a few had gotten too short to be used when in reality they were simply in the wrong pile. Once that was fixed, it goes smoothly with adding the stairs into place and they feel surprisingly sturdy once they’ve managed it.

Round 3!!

Morgen and his NPCs can work on filling in windows with their frames!

Isla and Sunjata and their NPCs can start laying out the second level framing! (floor and walls!)

Used to running an infirmary, Isla doesn't panic at least upon realising that one of her volunteers is going rogue, and she gathers them all in a quick huddle to go over the diagram before letting them back at the frames. Smiling to see it going to plan, she even has time to pop her head out through one of the window gaps to call a "Cooee!" and wave to Morgen. Then it's back to work, Isla testing out Sunjata's new stairs as she goes.

"We can take the floors," she murmurs. "It isn't too much different to the framing on the ground floor." That's the hope, anyway. And with more lumber and tools - and the help of many hands, she starts to erect (hurr) the second floor of the new bordello. That's a fancier word for brothel, according to the book she's reading.

Fully taken by his task, Isla 's shout from what was now the second floor had the wrangler looking up with a puzzled expression. He tries only to figure out what she might have meant or wanted for a few seconds before his attention is pulled back to the task at hand.

Not needing the unicorns for this, he waves a hand at them that they could go and graze as he motions for his gaggle of NPCs to come and help. "Biggest windows need to be here and here. Sun comes up there, so this'll give that room the most amount of light." He explains, miming the movement of the sun before pointing at the various windows. "Them corner windows won't matter much, so if the glass is a bit warped ain't no one gonna notice." He continues, pausing to make sure everyone was on the same page.

"Right. Let's git 'er done."

Morgen advises where to put the larger windows to maximize the amount of light let into the various rooms.

Sounds good.” Sunjata offers to Isla as he, too, tests the stairs. So far so good in that aspect. Now that the framing and walls have gone up, it’s quick work for Isla and her NPCs to work on laying down the support beams for the second floor, only running into issues when some of them lose their handle on the boards and they end up crashing through to the first floor. Luckily, not too many of them are damaged beyond use, and after a lot of elbow grease, there’s a nice floor to walk on for the second floor.

In the mean time, Sunjata works on the walls, ensuring that there’s room for the second floor to place the insulation like they had on the first floor, and him and his group work on enclosing the second floor before working on the walls on the inside, separating it out based off of Isla’s diagrams. Of course, for the second floor, there are gaps in the wall to the outside where Sunjata hooks a support there to help the next stage with the windows on the second floor for Morgen outside.

Morgen’s window adventure goes surprisingly clean, each of his NPCs listening to every word he says, taking it to heart and working diligently and carefully to get each window into place without breaking a single pane. The warped ones do get put toward the corners, and before long the whole bottom floor has windows and is mostly enclosed, except for the doors.

After a quick break, Sunjata calls out to everyone again. “Alright, good work so far! Just a few things left. Morgen, we’ve got to get some windows up to the second floor and put in. Perhaps the unicorns can help lift them up.” Like a pully system, using a rope and the supports he’d added in. His gaze slips toward Isla, her NPCs, and his own group before continuing. “Then we just need to add the roof.” So that way it would mostly be enclosed, and everything else they can do a bit easier so long as there’s some semblance of shelter to keep the snows from getting in.

Round 4! (LAST ROUNDDD)

Morgen and his group can use a makeshift pully system to get the windows up into the second floor and placed!

Isla and Sunjata and their groups can start on putting the roof up!
