TANAU
The Climb is a strange place with even stranger inhabitants - and whilst most of you may be thinking of Dygra and her children, on this occasion, you'd be wrong.

This place is also home to Tanau - dark haired, golden skinned and shrouded in multicoloured fire, the Longheat deity is easily the friendliest and most social of the seasons, and for the first time in forever (insert Frozen gif here) there's peace enough in the world for some fun.

So if you meander up to the Crust, you'll be greeted not by bubbling lava pits and impossibly sweltering conditions. (Or, well, you will, but that's not all!) No, a couple of jaunty pillars have been set up along the solidified lava, between which shimmers a rope engulfed with kaleidoscopic flames. The rope should, by all rights, be burning to a cinder, and yet here we are.

"Limbo!" calls a disembodied voice, clearly intending to start the game now, if not sooner.

WELCOME TO THE DROP!

You have 48 hours to post your character arriving to play a game of LIMBOOOO with Tanau.

The prize for winning this drop will be +2 LUCK!

With this in mind, please make note of the following from the Stats page of the Guidebook:

Once all four stats have reached 30, you may then increase your stats above the limit resulting in feats of superhuman strength, dexterity, and endurance. Unfortunately this may mean that when winning stat prizes from OTMs, drops, KQs etc., these may not apply if they push a stat above 30 before the others. Stat prizes are applied automatically and may not be added at a later time - this is to keep things fair for the admins as well as for everyone else!

Sohalia Lumaris
When Sohalia had left the familiar lands of the Hollowed Grounds, she had not expected to be found picking her way through a molten landscape of lava, but here she was. It was perhaps the most dangerous place she'd been (by far), but it also held a strange kind of beauty. Despite being impossibly hot and sweaty, the young woman sat on a patch of solid ground, her journal open on her lap, sketching out a map of the surrounding area and including little drawings of the magma.

When she heard a call of 'limbo!' she tucked away her journal and got to her feet, gathering her bag and her staff, then making her way towards the voice. When she arrived at a makeshift limbo rope engulfed in flame, supported by two solidified pillars of lava, she tilted her head to one side with confusion. It had been years since she had played limbo, and this looked like an incredibly dangerous version of it. Still, as others began to arrive around her, she had to admit she was intrigued.

Not that hunting obsidian wasn't fun and all, but Alys was kind of over it when she left the Burrows. She carried a pickaxe in her hand and had a lump of the shiny, volcanic rock in her pack as she traipsed over the solidified lava. She walked along carefully and was so focused on her footsteps that she didn't realize how close she was getting to a small gathering before a rope of fire. When she finally heard voices and looked up, she froze, taking in the sight.

Pillars of solidified lava held up a flaming rope. A disembodied voice called out, "Limbo!" and Alys looked around with distaste. It had to be a god, didn't it, to have these multicolored flames and a voice that belonged to no one in particular? Besides, who, if not a god, would think up a game of limbo involving fire? That seemed like just the kind of pointless addition to an otherwise perfectly good game that a god would think up.

Still, she was already here now, so she may as well watch the fun.

if you don't terrify people a little then what's the point
Let it be known that Deimos was not an expert at limbo.

The call and echo of the game had him meandering, slowly, taking his time as more ambled towards the growing crowd – eyes narrowed and immediately suspicious. If it wasn’t Tanau leading it, he would’ve been even more wary and jaundiced, but with his penchant for fire, natural curiosity (nosiness), and particular range of antics, he still sauntered in.

Way in the back. Maybe hoping to not be seen.

His height and stature, while useful in many instances, wouldn’t be for this diversion. All well and good, perhaps, presuming he wouldn’t be within the activity’s threshold for long.

In the near distance, around another bend and of caverns, a roar can be heard – loud, potent, powerful. And were those flames, rounding along the corner?

That could be a black dragon: a pernicious beast of legend, ready, willing, and able to defend its home for little to no reason.

Maybe it would be best to go another way?

You’ve encountered a Black Dragon. This counts as an uncommon creature encounter for the purposes of levelling, but does not count as a Random Event for levelling or MP. There will be no further admin/re intervention. If you choose to follow this creature, you do so at your own risk, however, just having it in this thread is enough to satisfy your levelling requirements. (You may not kill this creature without admin permission. )

Black Dragon (uncommon/mythical) - Black dragons of average size. Highly aggressive with fiery breath that can instantly melt most substances.

MELITA
Okay, but that roar could’ve been anything.

The courting call of limbo though? Much more appealing.

Dashing away from whatever sentiments was summoning a dragon nearby, and from her potential ruby cultivating, the youth stumbled upon the immersed crowd, spotting a few familiar souls, and some favorite portions to her life. Fire. Tanau. Games. All great things to occupy a frequently impulsive and emboldened mind. “Ooh, fuck yeah,” she uttered with a content, if slightly manic and Cheshire grin, placing her bag amongst her companions and rolling up her sleeves, waving to Sohalia as she readied herself for the ridiculous festivities.

Lena
hope is the thing with feathers
that perches in the soul
Lena’s own ventures into the Climb had been sparse and few; her last wandering into the thresholds of the molten, infernal atmosphere had been witnessing pools of crimson, blood, and then a dead body –

So they hadn’t been altogether pleasant.

But she’d be more than merry to experience multitudes of amusement and entertainment provided by one of the seasonal deities, alongside others. Stepping within, her eyes widened, taking in the surroundings, the fire, the incantations, the disembodied voice summoning them forward…perhaps it was just as well Mittens wasn’t in attendance today. She didn’t think the snowball would find the conditions suitable.

However, she did find a place near Sohalia, winking indulgently, before waiting further instructions and directions. Maybe all they needed to do was simply that – limbo.

Phoebe

Phoebe didn't venture this way often, but she had been in search of more obsidian or rubies. Why? They were pretty of course! Thankfully she was dressed for the heat, having pulled out some of her old Torchline clothes. It was still sweltering though. But the gathering of people near the crust caught her attention. What was this now?

So she ventured over, recognizing Sohalia but taking a place by Melita as the jubilant call of 'Limbo!' was cried out. Limbo? Like the game? Honeyed eyes found the fiery rope held between two pillars. Ah, it was the game so it would seem! "I think Deimos is at a disadvantage." she whispered conspiratorially to Melita with a giggle. The man was nearly as tall as the pillars! It wouldn't take long for him to be out she thought.

Then again her own height might work against her. Hopefully her flexibility made up for it.

Oh, what the hail. Tal found himself back in the Climb after his ruby-hunt with Ronin and he heard the call ring out for a game of... limbo??

Now, generally speaking, Tal respected the seasonal deities. Sure, he was most familiar with Eirachi and he was more afraid of her than anything else, and Ghilio had seemed pretty sour the one time Tal had seen him, but he'd heard that Tanau was the nicest of the lot and he figured: why not? It couldn't hurt to check it out... right?

He trotted towards the voice and was surprised to discover so many people already gathered. He waved to Melita, Phoebe, Lena, and Sohalia, but it was Alys he went to stand next to, giving her a quick grin. "Try not t'make me look too bad," he teased her from his own lofty height.

JUDE
you're like the sun, you wake me up
There are quite a few familiar faces hovering around by time Jude heeds the call, and he is pleasantly overwhelmed with all the options at hand. Most everyone is matching up, but Jude is confident his mother would be disappointed if he didn't join her regardless of her current company, so he nudges past a few strangers to her side. Phoebe and Melita knowing each other shouldn't surprise him, but he smiles tentatively at the redhead anyway. A familiar face, but still a stranger.

"Doing this on rock doesn't seem too safe," he murmurs mostly to himself, even as a slightly eager smile starts to find its way onto his lips. It certainly wouldn't prevent him from participating, but he would surely wince with every person who scraped their knees or skinned their elbows.

TANAU
Get out of here, Black Dragon - this isn't even about you.

It's about everyone gathered to play, of course. And while flames can't smile (don't be silly), there is something very jubilant about the burning rope as the crowd begins to form, cheerfully answering the fire's call. "Let's be nimble, let's be quick! Let's go under the limbo stick!"

Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is it dangerous? Maybe - you'll have to give it a go to find out. At present the rope stands at the shoulder height of, oh, let's say a 6'0 individual. So not too difficult. But hey - I believe in you to fuck it up.

It's time to LIMBOOOOO! You have 48 hours to post your character limbo'ing under the rope. (PLEASE NOTE: New characters can still join at this time, but you must post your character going under the rope to participate!)

if you don't terrify people a little then what's the point
Luckily most seemed to take his aversion to the crowds and lingering amidst the shadows as a sign to not even bother; so when the announcements rang up and the burning rope encouraged their movements, the Sword figured he’d just get it over with. Perhaps it’d encourage others to move forward.

Of course, the barriers were already low enough to ensure he would need to bend backward, and as he sidled up with a grimace already written on his features, Deimos attempted some manner of flexibility to ensure he’d be able to pass to the next round (but probably not).

MELITA
“Just means one less competitor for us,” she whispered back to Phoebe, as if this was a game that required such conspiring. Her eyes tracked the movement of the fiery rope, then the beckoning outcry, taking her place in line with a skip, a hop, and a bound.

A portion of her emboldened, audacious self nearly saw fit to be an outright ass and just glide underneath it, but then again, if she seditiously carved her way around, her fortune probably would mean her hair caught on the ends of it or something. That’d be embarrassing.

So she did her best bending backwards, complete with a wave to any onlookers.

Lena
hope is the thing with feathers

Lena’s eyes widened significantly as there were cheers and jubilance, even centered around the flames, and the rope itself. Glancing around to see if anyone else was bothered or apprehensive about this turn of events, she swallowed down the hesitation, but slowly, slowly made her way over to join the rest of the group.

More than once she watched others give their attempts, and by the time it was her turn, she didn’t feel much better. Even if the rope towered over her, the Attuned was determined not to have herself set ablaze, and strived to bend over backwards gracefully, striving to move beneath its sanction without touching flames and embers.
