While her presence in Torchline comes down to happy things like wedding invitations and meetings with old friends, the weight of the encased flower in her satchel has Evie venturing out to the shrine on the Rainbow Road before she seeks out Hadama. It's her first time here, so it is later in the day than she had hoped by the time she arrives and Micah is grumbling silently at her ankle. Perhaps he remembers that this is where he'd lost his family the day he and Evie bonded.

The shrine is beautiful, though it doesn't inspire the same feeling of comfort and familiarity that the Sea of Glass or Citadel shrines do. Kneeling, Evie pulls out her offerings - fresh baked bread inlaid with rosemary sprigs and local incense that she lights and lets smoke - and also takes her shield off her back and unearths the flower container. Just in case. She knows it's still likely her prayer may go unanswered, but her people might be in danger, and she has to try.

"Frey, are you there? I need your help." Help to be stronger, more prepared, the same way Frey had helped her in the time before the war.

The offerings are lovely, the plea is genuine, and Frey has helped Halo more times than not in distant memory.

And yet, Evie is still an Abandoned, and on this occasion, nothing happens.

Evie waits a good long while before she settles back on her heels. Where once the disappointment might have been crushing, now there is only understanding, and she is able to face the silence of the shrine with a small smile. Frey has never failed Halo, and has responded to Evie even when she has been alone in the past - that is enough proof that her deity will not forsake her.

For now, she must accept that Frey is busy, or that her needs do not outweigh the needs of others around the world.

"I will try again soon," she vows, as a promise of fealty more than arrogance. And, just because she finds it peaceful to be here enshrouded by the idea of Frey even without their presence, she remains at the shrine for a good while longer, simply meditating on all the changes of the world.
