"Come in," Jigano called from behind the mostly-closed door. It was usually open a crack unless he was sleeping or working with a book deemed dangerous for being either Sentient or gods-touched. Any would have been welcome, of course, but Maea's voice was instantly recognizable and he felt a momentary pang of anxiety. Fiat Lux had been a lovely interlude, but the world had continued to spin, the sun to rise - and there was no longer anything so immediately dangerous to life and limb that he could put this conversation off any longer.
He placed a feather in the book he had been annotating, gently closing the ancient volume and pushing it to the side as Maea entered. The Provost was looking better than he had since Maea had first met him, the weariness gone from his bearing and the shadows beneath his eyes filled in again with light. Blue eyes glinted with wry humor and his lips quirked in their usual wry smile as he gestured her towards the other chair, tilting his head at her curiously. "Time is something we never seem to have enough of anymore," he said, but his voice was light. "Careening from one emergency to the next. But that just means we have to make it for the important things. I'm sorry I didn't seek you out sooner... but I'm glad you're here now." His smile quirked a little sadder as he folded his hands decorously on the desk between them. "How have you been? I saw the boy carry you off from the Spire the night the barrier fell... and I've not seen your face within the Hall since. I wasn't sure you wanted to see me, in all honesty," he admitted, smile fading entirely at the last.
