Ahi Coast - Rules


Lined with tiki torches that glow white and cool during the day and yellow and warm at night, Torchline's Ahi Coast is always alive with fire and song. White-sand beaches stretch towards the city of Haulani, or else disappear into the crystalline waters of the Arclight ocean.

Kaiholo Port
Always rife with activity, Kaiholo is a dense sprawl of docks, boardwalks, and brightly painted buildings pressed hard against the sea. Ships crowd the harbour in uneven rows, ropes creaking and hulls knocking together, while the air hangs heavy with salt, smoke, and fresh catch. Market stalls choke the walkways in a riot of colour—some polished and inviting, others more discreet, their wares kept just out of sight. Crates, nets, and barrels clutter every path, forcing you to weave through the press of merchants, sailors, and travellers alike. By day, the port is all easy smiles and open trade. By night, the lanternlight lingers on quieter deals, and not everything bought or sold is meant to be seen.
The Rainbow Road
The southeasterly islands of Torchline positively burst with colour; a marvel made possible by the vibrant volcanic rock that covers the area. The surrounding coastline is even more curious, churning and bubbling as a result of the multitudes of geysers that lurk beneath the waves. Just as extravagant as the rock upon the surface, the waters surrounding the islands are a haze of foaming hues, making navigation difficult, yet strangely charming.

Aumakua
Aumakua is a small island just off the coast, connected to the mainland by a narrow stone bridge that spans the shallow water between. At its centre rises a three-storey lighthouse built of pale stone, its structure simple and solid, with a magically lit beacon burning steadily at the top. The surrounding sands glitter like scattered stars at all hours, catching and reflecting light even beneath cloud or darkness. The island itself is otherwise open and exposed, with little in the way of cover beyond the lighthouse, the constant sound of the ocean pressing in from all sides.

Miana Pool
A few metres out from the coastline, the waters widen into a large, circular pool carved into the volcanic rock, its edges dark and jagged while the centre drops away into an almost unnaturally deep blue. The surface is strikingly still compared to the surrounding ocean, as though sheltered from the currents, with only the faintest ripples disturbing its glassy surface. Merfolk and fisherpeople alike believe that if you make a wish and toss a brightly coloured stone into this area, it will be taken by the evening tides and deposited into the L'ma's lair far below. Rumour has it that those who offer the most beautiful stones will find their wishes granted.

Ahi Coast Shrine
Hundreds of feet below the surface, resting on the ocean floor just beyond the Ahi Coast, lies a weathered shrine to the old gods. Though deep, it is not unreachable—those with the means, such as manta crystals or other magic that allows for breathing beneath the waves, can descend to it without great difficulty. Built from pale, timeworn stone, the shrine rises in a simple, compact structure with arched openings on each side, its edges softened by years beneath the sea.
Kuali'i Isles
An ever-changing number of islands that act almost like a sentient hive-mind. Melding into each other and then breaking away, the islands never stay in the same place or shape for long. Some are several hundred meters wide while others are merely large enough for one person to sit on. Pay attention to your surroundings, or you'll surely end up far from where you started.
Apopo
Dominated by smoke and magma, the north of Torchline casts an eerie glow that can be seen by departing ships for miles around. Once a long dormant volcano, Apopo has now completely collapsed into the ocean on one side. The waters surrounding it boil and steam, and the land is unstable at best.
Metacarpal Island
South of Apopo, a beautiful yet macabre phenomenon peeps from the ocean. From a distance, all seems serene; pale stone, pure white sands and glorious red flora. A closer inspection, however, reveals the gruesome truth. It is not stones but skeletons that make up the structure of the isle, the debris of hundreds of bones bound and tangled together by crimson roots. Every plant that flourishes here is carnivorous, and every victim only adds to the growth of the island. Some Torchers swear that it moves through the waters like a living thing, though this has never been proven.
Wildering House
Rising above the Ahi Coast, Flora Kaito-Taliesin's estate is vast and glittering, carved from pale coral stone and crowned with terracotta roofs. The mansion spans multiple levels, its arched balconies gazing out over the sea. A sweeping staircase leads down to the private beach, while outside, a pool fed by the healing fountain sparkles under the sun. Within, a grand living room blazes with colour from a massive stained glass skylight. The house boasts countless rooms—each crafted for Flora’s friends—as well as a greenhouse lush with tropical blooms and an observatory tower reaching skyward to chase the stars.

The Northaven
Rarely found in the same place, The Northaven is a modest-sized houseboat owned by Remi and Ronin Taliesin. With a small patio, deck, and lookout perch, the majority of the houseboat's form is hidden by the various plants growing all along her sides and hull. Inside is a cozy bedroom, kitchenette, dining area, and hidden couches and seating. With no sail or motor to speak of, The Northaven is moved via a handle beneath the hull, pulled by either a leviathan or kraken.
