The Barrows - Rules


A grassy plateau speckled with burial mounds - barrows, ancient tombs for long departed souls. Hundreds stretch across the distance, each holding an iron door within a stone frame. Mist perpetually envelops the area, muffling all sound and staggering the senses.

Barrows Shrine
A graveyard is a strange place for a shrine dedicated to life. Or is it? Either way, at the top of one of the highest barrows lies a stone altar bared to the stars. The flowers and other offerings placed upon it never decay or degrade. This is a shrine for Vi/Safrin.
The Last Step
Those foolhardy enough to traverse the Barrows will eventually find themselves at the ruin of an enormous stairway. It spirals almost 30ft up into the air, before abruptly and completely stopping.
Meadowreach
A level space between two burial mounds gives way to a fertile meadow blooming with colourful flowers. Picturesque and calm, predators avoid this place, giving other animals and travellers a welcome moment of respite. Unicorn sightings are common here, as are blink hares and moushrooms.

Wrenzoak's Refuge
A completely self-contained paradise within the Barrows of King's End. Created by Sunjata Wrenzoak prior to the second war, the Refuge has been blessed with its own microclimate and sustained ecosystems. Food is plentiful and safety is guaranteed; attuned shifts, demigod abilities, abandoned magics, ascended upgrades and abilities, merfolk powers, and magical weaponry all cease to function while inside this board. Though animals are free to come and go, all those who enter this area at the start of the war will be kept inside until the fighting ceases.
