Appearance
The definition of tall, dark, and handsome, Richard is the very personification of the man your parents told you to steer clear from. He is picturesquely stunning, intense energy radiating from every nonexistent pore on his body.

His hair is dark brown with lighter highlights through it when the light angles correctly, and he takes pride in maintaining his hair. There is always facial hair on him, though the amount can sometimes vary simply depending on his mood. His eyes are honey brown, sometimes even appearing to shine a subtle gold.

Richard has a phenomenal body, muscles rippling everywhere they could be, and he devotes a decent amount of time to ensuring he maintains his muscular physique. That being said, he’s extremely nimble and much prefers flexibility to actual strength.

Along with his basic appearance, the man makes sure he dresses well and tries to keep a varied wardrobe. He thoroughly enjoys his accessories, and will often be seen with rings and bracelets just for the hells of it. However, he believes that his greatest accessory is his smile. His smile is positively radiant, practically glowing when it’s genuine, but just as aesthetically pleasing when it’s fake. Just be careful to figure out what his smile means before trusting it.

Personality
Charming, sophisticated, and quite roguish, Rick Brandle is a dangerous man to get involved with. In his world, he was one of the most elusive criminals in the kingdom, a truly notorious thief.

He is fiercely intelligent and not exactly the most humble when it comes to displaying his capabilities, especially his charm. Charm, finesse, and luck have gotten him through life, and he fully intends on it staying that way. He rather enjoys proving people wrong, and he made it his mission to become a jack of all trades, master of some. Master of all would be reaching a little high, even for him.

Rick is an easily trusted person, able to gain people’s confidence with relative ease. He doesn’t shy away from challenge, sometimes making some things more difficult than they have to be only to prove that he’s capable of overcoming them.

The only thing that he believes is a fault is that he can sometimes care too much. It isn’t common that he will fall for someone, but when he does, he falls hard. That being said, to fall for someone means allowing them to get close enough to him.

Magical items are his favorite targets. He is a born thief, and he’s rarely ever even raised suspicion about his motives around people. His training and feather-light touch allow him to snatch a necklace right off of someone’s neck without them knowing it. He enjoys the sport of it, but he’s fair in returns policy. If he’s caught, he’ll either give the item back or offer something of equal value in return. Of course... That requires actually being caught.

History
Richard doesn’t talk about his early days. As far as anyone is concerned, his childhood was normal. The truth of it was a little darker.

He was raised by his abusive drunk of a father, and his mother was the sole breadwinner of the family, though women didn’t have the same opportunities men did, which made earning enough of a living as a seamstress to support her husband and two sons difficult. She did the best she could, but there just wasn’t enough money.

As the eldest child, Richard was expected to help. He was eleven years old when he started running small scams to steal from people, telling his mother that he got a job on a farm. As a handsome, young lad, he had a natural talent for the charm and sneakiness needed to pull off a successful con, and soon he was stealing enough to support the family on his own.

Over the years, he ran into other thieves and was actually taken under the wing of a man named Giuseppe. He was taught the proper way to steal without full blown cons, as well as how to cover his tracks, how to find a fence or a buyer, and how to fight. He viewed Giuseppe as a father, more of a parent than he ever truly had, and he was thankful for the guidance and education he received while gaining the man’s assistance.

When Richard was nineteen, he was the most notorious conman in the kingdom. He was one of the top criminals the king wanted captured, but he was too slippery to catch.

One day, he was on a job to steal a magical shield for a client who really, really wanted it, judging by how much they were willing to pay for it, and everything went wrong. He suddenly appeared in an unknown world, and the door that brought him there... He looked back, and it was closed.
