Character of the Season
Frail in body but dangerously quick of mind, Nikandr is the sort of character who proves that curiosity can be just as perilous as any weapon. A necromancer, inventor, and problem-solver with more ambition than self-preservation, Niki approaches the world like a puzzle box begging to be opened, even when what’s inside has teeth. Blunt, dry-witted, fiercely independent, and carrying a history best left partially buried, he has a knack for making even failure feel fascinating. Whether he’s raising the dead, moving across Caido to King's End, or experiencing a hangover for the first time, Nikandr brings a wonderfully strange spark to Caido, and we can’t wait to see what trouble his brilliant mind wanders into next.
Congratulations, Niki!

“Hard to tell,” he surmised – eyes narrowing as he began to build the crescendo of Air and Water incantations again, pulsing and presiding, ensuring the clouds were pushed away. “They are known for their mischief.” And given Belial’s notable irksome actions towards them, the beast probably deserved it.
Nor did the dolphins seem to enjoy their lack of prowess upon the Sword’s constant volleying and rallying back and forth between their elemental displays. But then they shifted, diving underneath, and one of his brows arched, watching, waiting –
Before tails rose and hit the water nearby, sending a trajectory of sprayed water droplets cascading towards them.

Alys
The cloud roiled and rolled, but Deimos's magic successfully held them at bay. Alys, helpless in this particular instance, merely watched. Again, she was uneasy; she hated to steal his armor in a situation when he might need it, but she had to admit that he was better equipped than she for any mischief or mayhem that might come, even without his armor.
Sascha grumbled again, and the seer silenced the ursur with a gentle hand atop her head. The encantados dove beneath the water, and Alys frowned, watching the rippling surface carefully. When the dolphins emerged once more, it was with tails flying nearby, smacking against the water to send a volley of droplets towards the humans and companions alike. Surprised by this turn of events, Alys was nonetheless protected by Deimos's armor. The drops of water collided with the metal, but it was like nothing had hit her at all, and Alys blinked at the odd sensation.

Deimos rolled his eyes as the dolphins alternated their mischievous assault. He probably should’ve seen it coming, but he’d been occupied on multiple fronts, and wasn’t the least bit surprised when their launch was successful. Droplets of water rained down upon their makeshift group, and snorting, he flicked some of it out of his face. “You all right?” He glanced back at Alys, hopeful that the armor had done its job.
But thereafter, he was quite done with the encantandos and their inability to do much else but bother. “Enough of this then,” he murmured, narrowing his gaze and placing his focus upon the water instead. Indulgent in his incantations, he unfurled his Mastered Water and Air simultaneously, forcing a massive wave in a combination of effects, and casting the dolphins elsewhere as they maneuvered with the water. Then, to cease and desist the whole matter, he kept the tide and current rolling, while constructing a miniature fortress of Earth, as it shuddered and bound and wound its way in front of them as a barrier.

Droplets of water rained down, but Alys hardly noticed. The armor was quite effective, even if it had been overkill. At Deimos's question, the seer snorted. "It's just water, Dei," she reminded him, rolling her eyes affectionately. Then, softening: "I didn't even feel anything through your armor." Sascha, on the other hand, had been moderately drenched, and she grumbled dramatically as a result.
It seemed that Deimos had grown tired of the encantados, and Alys watched as he shepherded them away with an onslaught of water and air. Where the seer might once have been envious of his mastery over the elements, now she could only watch, impressed, as he built a wall of earth to protect them from any further mischief. She'd grown attached to her own power, such as it was, and no longer wished for that of others to bolster her abilities. With the dolphins dismissed, she turned her gaze back to Deimos, shrugging out of the armor. "Here you go," she said, holding it out to him. "Thanks."

His overprotective nature seemed to have not found its footing in this case, and he could feel his jaw tighten when he was admonished for the simple inquiry. Sometimes ‘just water’ was more than that, and he’d seen more than enough quandaries, issues, and problems arise out of something seen as innocent. But he nodded just the same, watching in the distance as the encantados looked around, seemingly confused by how they’d arrived at their current location, yards upon yards away from their last point. “Good,” as Alys mentioned the armor, content it’d done its job.
Taking it back, he placed it within his bag of holding again, then looked back at the assemblage of vegetation he’d grabbed to bring forth to Halo and his family. “You are welcome. I am going to head back, but I can make your trip shorter if you are going home too,” unless she wanted to stay in these portions.
