Character of the Season
Once known as the Butcher of Whitebrim, he's now The Butcher of Dygra, stepping forward as the first created demigod of the Ancients. There is no question that Astaroth casts an intimidating silhouette. Tall, domineering and dangerous, if looks could kill you'd be dead already, but to get up close and personal with the Grounds' resident cannibal tells a much different story. Dripping with charm and clad in only the finest attire, Asta is a gentleman monster, as polite as they come and committed to his role as security for the Dusklight and those who have earned his loyalty. Be careful of that smile, though - those teeth are sharp.
Congratulations, Asta!

With the payment plans decided, and Noe happily content to simply buy next time, the girl scanned the cafe for a place to sit and led them to their table. As Thorn responds to her, his bouncing brows drawing a snort of laughter from the engineer, Noe considers the ways that King's End had surprised her. "Ugh, don't remind me of the ghosts," she said, but there was no real bite to it - just a certain air of amused resignation. "Gods only know how I'm going to find enough folk to build this house I'm working on that close to the Barrows. I guess I could hire out of King's End, though," she added, musing to herself. "Get people who already know the lay of the land, and how to avoid the ghosts."
Then she shifted her attention. "No, I haven't been to the Castaway Exchange yet," she said, tucking away her work plans for later consideration. "I honestly haven't done a ton of traveling. I spent most of my time in Stormbreak before the fall. And then outside of that, I spent a lot of time in Torchline, where my best friend lived, before he disappeared on me..." She trailed off, mood darkening for a beat before she shook it off. "Anyway," she said breezily. "Now I'm getting in all the traveling I should have done before."

Nodding, Thorn settles into the seat of the table they’d picked, sipping from his coffee as he focuses back in on Noe’s plan over how she’d find enough people to build the house this close to the Barrows. “Y’should ask around New Haven. Plenty of people lookin’ for work that’d probably be more than willin’ to help out.” At least in his experience, anyone that needed help and asked around usually found what they were looking for eventually.
As for the Castaway Exchange, this perks the courtesan up. At least, until she mentions that she hasn’t done a lot of traveling and how her best friend lived in Torchline then vanished. He can’t help the frown that crosses his face as he lets his fingers toy with the handle of the mug. “That sucks. Sorry t’hear that.” About her friend, that is. But, for getting the traveling done now, he lifts his cup of coffee in a little makeshift toast. “Better late than never, though.” Toasting to that, should she join, Thorn takes a sip of his drink before setting it down.
“I didn’t travel much before too, but I grew up in Halo ‘n life took me t’Torchline an’ now to here. I get out where I can but if ya ever want a travel buddy occasionally, I’d be happy t’join ya.” Even if it was to Halo or even the far reaches of the Greatwood. Thorn wasn't much of an adventuring type, but he loved stories. Oftentimes that was enough to get him to go pretty much wherever.
"Thanks for the tip!" Noe said, delighted by this turn of events. Hiring workers from King's End would be cheaper than shuttling them in from wherever else she managed to find them, and besides - there were plenty of former Breakers here, people who knew her and who she knew she could trust to do a good job. She just needed to ask around in order to find them.
Joining in the toast, Noe sipped at her drink and hummed her approval of the rich flavor. It was easier to focus on Thorn and the present than it was to slip into anger about the past, so she simply didn't allow herself to wander down that particular road. Instead, she perked up to hear that her friend might join her on her travels. "That would be awesome," she said with a grin. "I mean, don't get me wrong, having some solitude can be nice, but it's so much more fun to see the sights with someone to appreciate them!"

“’Course.” Thorn hums, pausing to take a sip from his drink. Already he’s imagining the groups of people that would be more than happy to show up to help build a home for the region. One thing he’d learned about King’s End is that they were more than happy to expand and grow their surrounding areas, because more people would do wonders for their budding town and region.
Pausing to take a few bites of his food as well once he’s offered to be a travel buddy, his seafoam gaze flits upward to see her reaction, blooming a bit under her response. Swallowing down the bite, he grins over at her with a soft laugh of agreement. “Honestly. An’ what better than t’go with someone just as happy t’see the architecture. You won’t bore me talkin’ ‘bout eaves ‘n wainscot.” He bounces his brows playfully.
King's End was admittedly not the most civilized of regions, Noe could admit that as easily as the next person. But she had to admit their drive to improve, their desire to better themselves, to build up their region into something worth visiting or even living in. While she wasn't yet sure where her life would lead her (and, as it turned out, it would end up being Hak Etme), she would certainly keep King's End in mind for her future endeavors.
In any case, she nibbled at her food and sipped at her drink until Thorn offered his company, which brought her no small amount of pleasure. With a gleeful laugh, she nodded. "Oh my gods, we have to make a tour of Caido's architecture now!" she exclaimed. "You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find someone to really appreciate it." Or, you know, maybe he would, seeing as they seemed to be, in some ways, cut from the same cloth. "Okay, is there anywhere in Caido you've never been that you really want to see?"

Content to nibble at his food and drink the warm coffee that infinitely lifts his moods, the rain starts to dry out of his hair and the first layer of his clothes as he hears Noe’s suggestion. His gaze brightens immediately, and much like a flower Thorn starts to perk up and brighten, shooting a vibrant grin over at his friend as she makes, perhaps, one of the best suggestions Thorn could’ve ever thought of.
“Yes!! We have to.” He grins with a laugh, trying to settle a little as his mind races with all kinds of things he’d love to see but hadn’t had a chance to go and view yet. “Well… Is it bad I kinda wanna see the Spire in the Grounds??” He asks, wincing as he says it, letting his voice end with a warm laugh. “An’ the bone bridges seem really interestin’. I still dunno how they keep ‘em up without some kinda suspension.”
