It had taken the Alchemist a few days before he had the energy to climb the lighthouse steps to where Safrin's shrine lay waiting. Not only because of the horrors of LongNight and what it had done to his husband, but because he was oh so very weary of the goddess's tricks and demands of his family. Would she say they had not done enough? Would there be more that she asked of Torchline? Such might have been reasonable enough, but Remi was already so very close to his breaking point with Safrin, that was there anyone at all who would have care about his thoughts on the matter, he would have prayed fervently to them.
With those who wanted to join him holding their lit candles as before, Remi knelt by the goddess's altar and closed his eyes. [say]"Safrin, we have done what you asked. And now, with the light having returned to our sands, we ask for the people of Torchline to be reunited with the canals."[/say]

He’s thankful that he picked a home so close to the shrine, because he’s still really in no position to go quite far yet in his adventure of still healing. But he doesn’t want to miss it, partly because Safrin’s his chosen deity and he’d always choose to go somewhere just on the off chance of seeing her, and partly because he’d helped make those canals that they’re trying to complete.
So he makes his way there, slight limps in his steps, a slight curve of his back as he tries to not cater to the burns on his shoulder and side and being unable to. But he makes it up there, hangs on the inside of the entrance for some sort of support to lean against, eyes immediately drifting from the shrine to Remi as he knees, Sunjata clutching the lit candle and waiting, exhausted and tired, but hopeful it would all work out.

That fewer arrived this time was...interesting. Remi didn't give much thought to it though, chalking it up to monsoon-season preparation. All the hard work had been done already; perhaps Torchline simply wanted to reap the benefits than stand on ceremony for Safrin. Or, perhaps they simply didn't care. This was more for the merefolk anyways, and it wasn't as though they could be part of this.
With a nod to Sunjata (by the look of his face the pair should probably talk at some point), Remi looked towards the shrine, silently explaining all that they had collectively done to fulfill Safrin's requests of them.

It's a long time since you visited a Shrine, but this seems like a good enough reason. Besides, you're trying to be more involved in your community or something (read: keep an eye on the damn Outlanders), and you've become personally invested in these canals. Stands to reason you'd want to turn up and see the things complete.
You expected a larger entourage for the Alchemist, not just Tallyata, but everyone else must be preparing for these things to inevitably flood. Slipping into the small room without a word, you lean against the back wall with your arms over your chest, feeling deeply conflicted as you wait for a damned goddess to appear.
Well if they weren't going to come for her, why should she come for them? She would of course, they being three attractive men two of which were already wrapped around her fingers. And the third? Well. Who didn't love a good challenge?
Appearing in a haze of starlight that solidified into a gown of white that clung with flattering ease around Safirn's curves, the deity smiled benevolently at the three PCs and the other NPCs we're assuming are here.

I suppose we best not draw this out any further then...?"[/say] With a smile, Safrin waved them all towards the window that looked out into their darkened town. They'd not necessarily be able to see the grooved of the canals being formed, but as the ocean swept up into these new passages, the waters would being to glow, as if carrying with them thousands of flecks of starlight.

Mermaids may now travel to (almost) every board. Some boards are understandably still unaccessible (like the lighthouse). However the canals go through Haulani (you cannot post/go inside places like the Hanged Man or Halenani, but can be outside of them), can reach Apopo (but not go to the top), etc.
The canals are formed of magical stone and at night the water glows with starlight.
As she appeared the Alchemist could do little else other than hold his breath. His mind wanted to silently plead with Ludo? Mort? Vai? Someone else? for assistance, but of course there was no one else. Remi might have given his soul to Ludo, but the raggedy god would likely never serve as his own personal patron saint, to call upon in times of need. Theirs was seemingly not much of a two-way relationship.
So Remi held his breath, walked to the window, and waited.
Watching the world outside suddenly come alive with shining threads of water that snaked through the city, Remi felt a tentative rush of joy and relief.
[say]"Safrin..."[/say] He murmured, turning an appreciative gaze her way, lips parted in awe and hesitation. [say]"..Torchline owes you a great debt. No doubt the mermaids will be singing your praises for many years to come."[/say]

She's fuckin' gorgeous, let's get that out of the way straight up. Exquisitely gorgeous. Dangerously gorgeous, you think to yourself, eyes wandering to the closely-held curves beneath thin fabric before darting back to her face. Nope, nope, nope, not going there. Not even thinking it. The last thing you need in your life is to be tangled up in god shit, thanks all the same.
Swallowing down your blazing discomfort you drift toward the window, looking out upon the scene as the goddess directs. There lies your city, cut through with empty veins like a desiccated corpse. But even as you watch the canals begin to fill, ocean water, the lifeblood of your homeland, washing into starlit channels, bringing light and life.
It's fucking beautiful is what it is, and you let out a low, appreciative, [say]"Damn."[/say]
The last thing Sunjata really wants to have happen here, is for Zeph to arrive. But the smuggler arrives regardless, and Sunjata shifts his attention away – not acknowledging the man as he focuses on where Safrin may appear. And appear she does, in all her beauty and brilliance. She waves them to the window, and Sunjata follows with all the effort he can muster in his exhausted, sore state, moving to the window and offering a grin toward Safrin before watching the canals form and fill with the glimmering starlight.
Remi comments early, exactly what Sunjata was thinking, before a soft smile curves the corners of his lips up and he tears his steel gaze away from the canals to look upon his goddess with a thankful and appreciative eye for the beauty of the canals. “[say]Thank you, Safrin.[/say]” He hums with a dip of his head, leaning forward and bracing his arms on the edge of the window he’s at, watching the water continue to fill its way through it.

[say]"Most welcome, my darlings."[/say] The goddess coos, seeming to radiate their approval back at them in star-bright waves. Though this act might be double-edged in that Safrin takes as much joy from their gratitude as they will take from the canals, it should also serve as a warning for all future encounters, especially for those in attendance who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Safrin before.
With a wink in Zephyr's direction, an unseen and warm breeze tangling around his shoulders for just a moment, Safrin disappears in a rush of light leaving behind only the scent of juniper and lilac. And her canals, of course.
