Soleil
just because you're screaming for my attention
Does not mean I will waste my time
It's been a strange season of growth for Soleil, and coming home feels particularly profound this time around. She hasn't adventured much this season given the circumstances so it's not like she has been gone excessively - considering she is quite happy to still live in their family home when she's in Halo - but it's always nice when they can meet around the table as a trio. Does not mean I will waste my time
LongNight doesn't hold the same fear and trauma for Soleil as it does for others, and the empty blackness over the tundra is strangely beautiful when broken by the eternal glow of firelight from within the Citadel. Hugging her dad tightly when she arrives, she hands over her spear and leans over to prop her elbows on the table to watch him work his literal magic with eternally impressed eyes. It's so fast. Which is precisely why she had remained standing - not because she can hardly ever sit still or anything like that.
"Thanks dad," she murmurs warmly, slightly muffled with how her chin is plopped into her palm. Straightening, she moves into his space to press against his side and drop her cheek onto his shoulder. The gifts and increased protection are nice, but she only needs this - all three of them present and accounted for, with the uncertainties of their current world far enough away to forget for a moment.
We're only dreaming, what's your problem baby?
I don't mean to break your heart
I don't mean to break your heart
