While he waited for the answer, uncertain of what he wanted to hear, he permitted the water to take the gloves further. The elements under his own contortions and control buoyed them along until they were some twenty feet out, and he watched as they drifted in and amongst the current, not unlike the multitudes of fish. The ocean had once been the relic’s domain, after all, when the kraken had them in its possession all those years ago.

He shrugged, brows furrowing, thinking of all the lanterns, of all those old wounds, of torn lacerations and how much had been buried down. Or mended. Some days it was hard to tell at all. So I do not know either. I am only certain that it is not easy.
