Kaiden really didn't want to be here. The tide wasn't in so the water was shallow, but thankfully it was deep enough for the mer to swim in. It was still annoying. But the golden-eyed man had promised a free meal after they found the damn cat. And free food was free food.
The other person was far too colorful and sparkly to look at for long, so Kaiden made sure to search in the opposite direction of the woman. They knew what warning colors looked like and weren't going to risk being poisoned.
Turning a bend, they tried to spot anything orange or even vaguely yellow. "Come here, you damn cat. I promise I won't eat you." Maybe. Did a cat named Mango taste like mangos? What did mangos taste like? Kaiden doesn't think that they've ever had one before.
