The first thing that Alys noticed was the thrashing of leaves nearby, a sound that drew Sascha's attention long before it reached the seer's ears. At the little ursur's grunted warning, Alys looked up from where she sat, doodling idly in the margins of a journal that she'd long since filled with various entries, squinting through the foliage in an attempt to pinpoint what, exactly, was making its way through the wilderness towards them.
When her sight was not rewarded, she sighed and closed the journal with a snap. Tucking it away in the small leather satchel slung across her chest, she rose and dusted off the seat of her pants before carefully picking her way through the undergrowth and towards the sound. She might not have spent much time in the Oerwoud, but she knew enough to recognize when a sound didn't belong. Sascha plodded along behind, grumbling softly as her bonded insisted on walking towards the noise. If the little ursur had her way, they'd be long gone by now.
Instead, they emerged from the dense trees onto the edge of the lake at the base of the Leap of Faith. Peering through the mist, Alys tried to find the source of the commotion and failed. Crossing her arms over her chest - and readying her magic, just in case - she started around the lake's edge, searching for whoever or whatever it was making the noise.
