It would have been nice to know a younger Soh. She might have calmed his wilder nature, and he might have managed to bring her out of her quieter one. But if they had, they might not have ended up where they were now, and he wouldn't want to miss finding out the gender of their child.
Setting aside any thoughts of alternate pasts, Zavien shrugged his shoulders. "I couldn't care less what they look or act like." He didn't have to speak the obvious of 'as long as they're healthy,' so he leaned close instead, gazing into her eyes as he smirked. "But I hope they have your beautiful eyes."
Just at that moment, they called her name, the force of it springing Soh to her feet faster than his heart slamming in his chest. It caught in his throat, the daze returning as they proceeded closer to that pivotal reality. He didn't register when he made it to his feet or when he followed the women into the back room or when they'd been left alone to wait for the doctor. The only thing he noticed was Soh's hand in his as he blinked back into the moment, tapping his foot against the floor. "How long do you think we'll have to wait?"
