"Mm, I think when the Family was around that was the case for a lot of the regions, especially towards the end," Niki agrees, letting his cane vanish back into the ring on his hand so he can rap his knuckles smartly across the wooden countertop. "Here is to many more easy Longnights from here," he says with a quick smile. He doesn't know if touching wood will actually make a difference, but every little bit of luck helps.
Chuckling at the wince he just about catches on Sunjata's face, Niki turns his attention back down to the treasures he's brought home. "There was a vendor selling roasted coffee beans, so I picked some up along with a coffee grinder," he explains, setting both before Sunjata so he can take a look if he'd like. "I also got some of this, in case of visitors," he adds, producing a small glass bottle of hazelnut syrup.
"Other than that, I got some dried herbs and cinnamon sticks for the fireplace to make it smell good." And the more of those little touches he adds, the more the house really does start to feel like home. "Have you had a chance to look around much yet?"
