But how does it work? she wanted to ask, fully understanding that it was magic and wanting to understand it anyway. Instead, she propped her head on one hand and sighed. ”That must be so nice,” she mused. ”Especially for the people who live in the Refuge. Are the rates reasonable? I would totally stay all the time if I lived here.”
As Thorn brightened, Noe laughed, his enthusiasm infectious. She sat her mug aside and nodded. ”Let’s go,” she said, rising and gathering her belongings. ”I guess it’s a good thing I travel light,” she added, gesturing towards the small bag that she toted over one shoulder. ”Otherwise I’d have been lugging around a suitcase through all this!”
